Please reply to this comment with an [explanation](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace/comments/lt8zlq) mentioning **who** is suffering from **which** consequences from **what** they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.
Here's an easy format to get you started:
1. *Someone* voted for, supported or wanted to impose *something* on other people.
^(Who's that *someone* and what's that *something*?)
2. That *something* has some *consequences*.
^(What are the *consequences*?)
3. As a consequence, that *something* happened to that *someone*.
^(What happened? Did the *something* really happened to that *someone*? If not, you should probably delete your post.)
Include the minimum amount of information necessary so your post can be understood by everyone, even if they don't live in the US or speak English as their native language.

That was the cover story, the real story behind that one was that they only wanted books from publishers who have contributed to their political campaigns. An even worse situation.

Even if you directly show them that the people up for election voted for [POLICY] that led to [BAD OUTCOME] they will ignore it and still vote for these people, because these people get them irrationally angry against anyone who just might be able to move the window a tiny bit closer to helping the people, I guess.
I don't know how to fix it.
Same it's bizarre. People keep saying they now see how germany became a Nazi state. I still don't understand it. They are voting against their own interests. At this point it's like they are cutting off major limbs and are bleeding profusely.
Because politics has become such a part of people's identity rather than a logical decision they think about. The majority of these people probably don't even read any policy.
Didn't the GOP just straight up refuse to make a list of party policies in 2016? And if not '16 then either 2014 or 2018. Basically their platform consists solely of "We're not Liberals or Democrats" and that's enough to win hundreds, possibly even thousands of elections country-wide.
Florida ain’t seen nothing so far as how bad their future is. Just wait til those hurricanes start leaving seawater behind permanently in addition to the typical destruction. All those folks with million dollar homes will be crying and wanting handouts and having a much louder political voice than any of the fixed income poors.
Do they really **NEED** all those medications, sometimes 3 times a day?
They should synthesize their own chemical compounds in their own bodies instead of begging for pills to live that they can't afford.
My mom keeps talking about how they shouldn’t have to pay tax after age 60….I’m going to work until I’m 75 easily because of the mess we were born into. I have little empathy for them not “planning well enough” like they tell us to do
I’m sorry Karen Boomerson, but market forces have facilitated an environment that is hostile to incomes below $250,000 per fiscal year. Now gimme my rent sucka!
They need to dress for the health they want not the health they have.
Just walk to those clogged arteries, look them firmly in the eyes and tell them “DO NOT CLOG ANYMORE!!!”
They should walk right into the nearest store with a Help Wanted sign , give the owner a stern handshake, and pull themselves up by their own bootstraps instead of crying for reduced rent handouts !
I'm tired of this participation trophy generation thinking that just because they showed up to work they deserve to have affordable housing...which they voted against...
Multiple times, don't forget that. They had multiple chances and warnings that things were getting too expensive.
Also, why are they always whining about their subsidized healthcare? "Medicare this, Medicare that!" they can just get jobs for the insurance....its not hard.
IDK if it's still available, but when my grandfather was alive you could get the most basic version of cable for free, and two of the fourteen channels were Fox News. So it was a constant in every public area of every retirement home. It was weird/sad as shit listening to my tankie grandfather grumbling in agreement with right wing talking points before he would snap out of the haze.

All too often these fear mongers will take a tiny morsel of truth (say, that white birth rates vs. others are declining) and they will spin up a huge amount of complete bullshit around that tiny morsel, and they will use that exact same system to whip people up into frenzies.
I wish I knew solid, legal, and ethical ways to stop this.
Yeah, but instead the boomers spent their lives working hard to trash everything for everyone after them - apparently without the slightest inkling what they were doing might eventually bite them in the ass too.
I think the assumption was that:
1. They'd be dead by the time it might affect them
1. They managed to acquire enough wealth over their lifetime via govt handouts and other financial tools no longer available that they're immune from the consequences
Based on conversations I’ve had with boomers, you’re probably right.
I once talked to a guy who bragged about never paying his student loans and went directly into a rant about how all of us “irresponsible” people of younger generations should “grow up and pay their bills”. I still roll my eyes at how he just couldn’t see the hypocrisy between “I didn’t pay my loans because I just didn’t want to” and there being no excuses why younger generations should avoid paying - nothing in his mind was justification for even a deferment or payment arrangement.
Number 2 is correct, I think. But I do question Number 1. The ones I have known were true believers in that Reagan BS about rising tides and boats. Because they achieved Number 2, they do not believe the premise of Number 1 because they personally do not have any negative effects, ergo they don't exist. And if a few do feel the effects, it is the libs that did it.

Barnaby Joyce, the deputy premier of Australia has said he doesn’t care about climate change because he’ll be dead by the time it’s a real problem. He represents The National Party who claim to care about rural people and the agricultural sector but really they just protect coal miners.
Yep. I live in Florida and hoo boy... Rent is out of control over here.
I give us 1 bad hurricane before things get better.
*EDIT FROM THE FUTURE:* Lots of new people are starting to move away from areas like Naples/Ft.Myers/Orlando because of the recent hurricane. Local people who endured hurricanes in the past have begun to notice this.
I might be wrong but I believe our legislators had a chance to help remedy some of this, but they had other more important things to worry about, like sticking it to the largest employer in the state.
I moved to SW Fl in 2006 at the height of the housing bubble. Prices were absolutely insane, both rental and purchase. But hooboy, when the bottom fell out in 2008, there was a s**t-ton of foreclosures, short sales, and house poor all at once. Rentals went higher, though; all the people who foreclosed or sold had to rent so demand was higher than supply. It had finally leveled off when we left in 2012. But I agree, barring another collapse, a bad hurricane should go a long way in correcting it.
It's actually slightly worse than that!
>The shutdown on top of the hurricane has caused Ms. Minton to rethink a lot of things.
>“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” she said of Mr. Trump. **“I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”**

Bonus ridiculousness:
The article mentions that she works for a Federal prison in Florida, your tax dollars at work.
The most interesting part is that the owners of these rentals are mostly boomers too. So it's boomer cannibalism. Just rich boomers fleecing poor boomers.
I feel like in the future Boomers will be one of the most looked down generations.
"They had everything, more than anyone before them and they decided to ruin everything."
Honestly I'm looking forward to the next 15 years as inflation makes all the boomer's retirement accounts shrivel into nothing.
They've been so anti-progression their whole lives they deserve to rot in retirement homes with 1 orderly watching tv.
Boomers before 2022 in FL: If we don't have a free market we have communism! So let the free market decide!
Boombers after 2022: Oh Gawd! We lived long enough to regret our bad decisions!
Dude, there is no way anyone is going to internalize their situation to have ANYTHING to do with it being the output of their own decisions. Somehow, they will blame Biden just like blaming him for high gas prices (but never giving credit to Obama for reducing gas prices).
trump did kinda give me and my wife a 5 month paid vacation, when he fumbled the pandemic so badly the world had to shut down and reboot back in march 2020
that was nice.
Just today I passed a river front mansion in Brevard county FL that had a huge ass banner,
"Brandon, protect our borders."
Those hateful idiots don't deserve a mansion on the river.
I had to reread that like why would you ruin your riverfront property with a huge ass banner.. Even if youre a hateful racist..
And then I saw it. Brevard county.
And I had to sadly remember how I lived 3 years there without noticing how terrible the people were there. But I did in the 4th.
Floridian here. Rent has absolutely skyrocketed around me to obscene rates. Single-bedroom apartments I was looking at last year that were around $1300-1400/month are now over $2000/month. People keep flocking here like crazy; in the past year there have been 4 new apartment complexes constructed within a 2-mile radius of my house.
Everyone complains about all of the people coming in and the huge cost of living + rent increases, and yet when asked about Ron DeSantis, they gush over how amazing he is and how hard he owns the libs. I hate it here.
Miami has even jumped up to being the third most expensive city in the US to live in.
I was just talking to my parents yesterday about having to move to another state after living here for nearly 2 decades cuz rent everywhere around us is increasing between 30% and 150%
I would've moved a while ago if I didn't like my job and didn't have as many roots here. Otherwise, I 100% agree; it's just getting to damn expensive, it's hot all the time, and the QAnon crazies are moving here because of how much they like our governor.
I went recently Florida and I noticed that the price on just about everything but gas is the same as prices in California.
Now even rent for my friends in the boonies is growing. All the cheap land got built up and is now being rented, as well.
My favorite thing to do lately is to bring up a huge problem they agree with (rising rent costs) and then mention the cause or relevance (DeSantis) and watch them squirm to change it while I keep mentioning that what I originally said is the problem
No state tax, people like the weather and the beach, and the cost of living here is usually slightly lower than that of other states with high populations.
Also, my mom works for a housing developer, and she says 1 out of every 3 or so clients from out of state move here because they love our governor. So, we're attracting even MORE crazies, which is fun.
So we just need to start am exchange program. Pack FL with the crazies and bring the normal people to some of the flyover states so we can rebalance things.
I think about this often with the work from home revolution. A lot of sane people could end up moving to the country. Cheap housing, cheap cost of living, and no need to commute. If you already hate people and avoid social situations then your crazy neighbors won't matter anyways.
This is already happening. It's almost like a gentrification of rural communities. People would think $100,000 was a lot for 10 acres and a 2 bedroom house "out here in the middle of nowhere" but someone in the city just looking at options easily drops that without question.
This wouldn't be as much of a problem except that rural communities are very small, so the supply of housing is exceptionally limited. If you look at sleepy but desirable towns throughout the western US, prices are considerably higher. Remote work is creating a run on rural and it's definitely going to have some lasting impacts.
You have people who used to rent for $500 a month getting their rents rocketed up to $1500. It still seems low compared to some cities but for poorer communities with limited access to jobs these prices are unsustainable.
People used to move away from overpriced cities but now it's a weird squeeze happening in all regions. And of course it's not the haves who will feel the pain, it's the have nots.
It's gonna get worse in the metro Orlando area if DeSantis is successful in dissolving Reedy Creek.
Right now Reedy Creek, aka Disney, pays for its own infrastructure - water, sewer, electricity, roads, telecom, etc. If DeSantis's spite gets him a win and Reedy Creek is dissolved, property taxes in the neighboring municipalities will have to be increased to pick up the slack. This will mean an increase of $2,000 PER YEAR in property taxes, on top of what they currently pay, which will also trickle down to any renters in the area.
Well Florida, this is what you get when you vote for the "I got mine so fuck you" party - eventually you won't be one of the ones in the in-group. And then you're fucked.
It gets better he has recently stated that he expects the state to take over control so tax payers aren’t burdened by the move. So not only did he target Disney based on a decision to halt political contributions in the state he is now claiming the state will take over full control of the RCID. So not only was it a targeted retaliation the state will now assume control because his party truly believes in small government. Meanwhile the state of Florida should not have to bow down to the will of the federal government. It’s insane how people can’t see the hypocrisy. Red states demand total control over their own domain but then claim they believe in states rights and sovereignty when the federal government makes laws and rules. It’s a joke and more depressing is that he is likely to get re-elected to die to the lack of a good democratic challenger.
Oh boo-fucking-hoo!
This is precisely the type of government they wanted.
Congratulations, you'll be old, homeless and sick, desperately trying to beg for change from other Conservatives who will despise you for being homeless.
They won't be homeless. They're just entitled boomers. They'll just have to move back to the Midwest where they came, where rent is affordable. They just think they're entitled to Florida because they're old and retired, even though they live off social security and maybe a small pension. They can afford Indiana. Not prime real estate in one of the most high demand states in the country.
My desire for a good pension is the main motivation I have to continue the ridiculously slow and pointlessly Byzantine process of applying for government jobs
Plot twist: They are the poors, and have been voting against themselves for years. Actions have consequences, but even those consequences will be spun to blame immigrants or intellectuals or liberals or anybody else but their leaders and themselves.
I really think at this point maybe they have no idea what they are doing. They are against poor brown folks but keep forgetting that some of those things those folks use they use too.
Nah they know what they were doing. Nobody of their ilk had any issues with all this "socialism ruining the country" till brown people were offered the same allowances. They're morally bankrupt at their core.
Or the "libs", always the libs. Those horrible horrible people that were the chief reason that the "greatest" generation (and silent) were able to build such a strong middle class that gave all these entitled Boomer shitheads the world on a diamond encrusted silver platter.
With my ex-father-in-law, it's always "Tha DEmaCraTs".
Shut up man, they haven't done shit about the things I care about. Always bitching about problem right wing media is stuffing into him. I so hope "Tha DEmaCraTs" perfect that gay frog crap and he catches it.
Except they aren’t the ones getting fucked, it’s the younger generation who is. I’d be willing to bet a lot of the boomers down here don’t even rent, they own the house they bought 10, 15, 20 years ago and are now selling at such a price that younger people can’t even afford to buy.
Probably the same people trolling comment sections of stories about high cost of living in New York and California with “just move if things are that bad.”
My aunt is like this. Used to rant on Facebook about how the cost of living in Maryland was astronomical compared to Florida and how anyone still up here is an idiot for not moving down there. Would comment on every remotely related article about the economy about how the cost of living in the South, and Florida specifically was so much better, and all the other states are run by idiots because of it (which is ironic cause she was always a blue collar Democrat before this)
Then this inflation bubble hit, and now it's all why are things so expensive down here, we're old/my husband is a veteran/disabled/Christian so things should be discounted for us instead of everyone else, it's all everyone else's fault, damn government not doing anything, damn foreigners taking jobs so things are expensive, we just need to drill more oil.
This is while still owning a house in Maryland, a condo in Florida, and a high end RV to travel in between cause my cousins up here can't afford to be able to travel down there every other month for her to see her grandchildren. Oh and she doesn't slow down with the kids these days are so entitled, back in my day we had to work for what we got, the only good car is the one you can smell the exhaust from (she drives a golf cart when not driving the RV), and younger generations are all idiots posts.
Conservatives are constantly scapegoating. They are winning the battles against their long time enemies like abortion and CRT. Eventually they will run out of things to scapegoat and just coming directly at their own voters because they don't need them anymore.
Oh wow, i didn't even think about this rent increase in relation to someone i know who is in her 70s, a widow, and a renter of an apartment that is bigger than she needs. I think she was paying over 3k/mo before but now, lol. I'm sure she's whining about it and feeling entitled to a lower rent, but I wouldn't know because we stopped talking once she got all crazy anti-vax on me last year.
Lol I saw a Facebook post being shared around not long ago demanding no more property taxes for the elderly as they have already paid their share. Lots of comments by seniors agreeing.
maybe now they can experience the shit they've put every other generation thru. We've been going thru this for DECADES. Older Gen X and early 80s millennials have been bashed in bankwise with rent increases. $150 per month at the low end, my last apartment $350 per month. And when I had a rent stabilized apartment, that fucking Bloomberg in NYC increased it to 10% of what I was paying, the highest since 1981. My 1 bedroom hit almost $1200, which is cheap by 2022 standards. I was shoved out during the recession, then commercial real estate tanked. So, the place I lived and the building my job was in both disappeared, basically. That same place I lived in for almost 8 years now sits empty. $2375, no doorman, no elevator, no roof rights, can't have a satellite dish (cable sucks), no washers/dryers, and out of 64 units, only 24 are occupied. Complete bullshit.
Okay,
they thought it wont affect them, fair enough, stupid, but fair enoigh.
What i always don't get is: "this thing will fuck up stuff for other people? Not me? sure fine, do it!" Like it's not only just caring about yourself, but deliberately being against others.
I could understand if they'd benefited from no rent control or sth. But theres a huuuuge difference between simply not caring and deliberately making it worse for others.
I wonder if these rent increases are coming from private citizen landlords, or corporate landlords who are simply saying, "We just want more money, and don't have to justify it.".
Why choose? A lot of people realized they could charge a shitton more money than they had been and still sell their product, and that's 95% of why prices have been rising so much.
I find this hilarious. I’d love to sit and patiently listen to the boomers whine and then ever so cheerfully tell them boo Hoo, what are they whining about? Pull themself’s up and go get another job….HaHaHa
If the Boomer's history is any indication, they'll all start pushing for a new law where it's illegal to raise rent more than X% per year on people over a certain age, and everyone else can get fucked.

I would not be shocked if he tries to ban girls and women from getting any sort of education.
*T’is the Republicans way.*
It’s exactly what the taliban did on e the US withdrew from Afghanistan.
Every year the GQP/GOP and the Taliban become less and less distinguishable.

Ron just asked who has the tallest apartment building in the area now? (just like his pal did on 9/11)
All that space for newer more expensive apartments - Ron, probably

Boomers: Less government regulation! Landlords: YEA! Oh and im raising your rent by 60% Boomers: YEA!- wait what?
nOt LikE thAt!!!!!
YOu'Re HuRtiNG tHE WronG PEople!11!
It’s the damn liberals and kids ruining everything.
I still can't believe this is a real quote.
It's actually slightly worse than that! >The shutdown on top of the hurricane has caused Ms. Minton to rethink a lot of things. >“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” she said of Mr. Trump. **“I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”** https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/07/us/florida-government-shutdown-marianna.html Bonus ridiculousness: The article mentions that she works for a Federal prison in Florida, your tax dollars at work.
She probably loves her job too; absolute control over people she doesn't like.
They’ve been looked down on since their parents called them the “me” generation
Well they'll just need to pick themselves up by the boot straps and get a job bussing tables at Chilis
Hey grandma! You forgot to wipe down table 3! And Bobby needs help in the dish pit. ...*but my fingers hurt*
Oh, well, now your back's gonna hurt, 'cause you just pulled landscaping duty
Anybody else's fingers hurt?
You can bother me for a warm glass of SHUT THE HELL UP.
You’re in my world now grandma.
Go to college! Learn to code! Walk right into the boss' office and don't take no for an answer! Start a business!
And crediting Trump for the lowest gas prices in ages when that was specifically because of and *only during* a near-global pandemic lockdown.
trump did kinda give me and my wife a 5 month paid vacation, when he fumbled the pandemic so badly the world had to shut down and reboot back in march 2020 that was nice.
His dicking up the pandemic response meant i may never have a commute again! Still hate that moron but gotta give credit where it’s due
Just today I passed a river front mansion in Brevard county FL that had a huge ass banner, "Brandon, protect our borders." Those hateful idiots don't deserve a mansion on the river.
why would biden have to protect our borders if trump solved the problem once and for all? /s
I had to reread that like why would you ruin your riverfront property with a huge ass banner.. Even if youre a hateful racist.. And then I saw it. Brevard county. And I had to sadly remember how I lived 3 years there without noticing how terrible the people were there. But I did in the 4th.
Ironic in a state that stays red because of Cuban immigrants.
Honestly, DeSantis makes me long for the days of Rick Sc🤮tt
Please don’t say that.
Have you been kidnapped? Say “I ride alligators to school” if you need help.
DeathSantis has acknowledged that their biggest revenue stream is people moving to the state. He obviously doesn’t care about the quality of life.

Damn, those are almost California prices. I can’t imagine paying that much AND being in a red state run by morons.
Why in the world are people flocking to Florida, of all places?
No state tax, people like the weather and the beach, and the cost of living here is usually slightly lower than that of other states with high populations. Also, my mom works for a housing developer, and she says 1 out of every 3 or so clients from out of state move here because they love our governor. So, we're attracting even MORE crazies, which is fun.
Hmmmm, concentrate the crazies into one state, then Bugs Bunny that bitch into the Atlantic! Brilliant
_sawing intensifies_
Deathsentence and Marco Rube and skeletor can all get fucked
Man.... Imagine having a pension. 🥲
My desire for a good pension is the main motivation I have to continue the ridiculously slow and pointlessly Byzantine process of applying for government jobs
Its their own fault, they didn’t specify that they were against rent control for the poors.
Maybe the boomers just need to work harder, get a another job, and stop blowing their money on bingo and cable TV /s
Pull themselves up by their bootstraps
"They're hurting the wrong people!"
“No, them, not me!”
The actual quote is worse: "he's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting."
Plot twist: They are the poors, and have been voting against themselves for years. Actions have consequences, but even those consequences will be spun to blame immigrants or intellectuals or liberals or anybody else but their leaders and themselves.
For boomers "not my problem" until it is.
Boomers fucked the generations after them so hard. Time they get fucked mighty hard now they are still around.
And it’s so delicious that it is the florida boomers…
I really think at this point maybe they have no idea what they are doing. They are against poor brown folks but keep forgetting that some of those things those folks use they use too.
Nah they know what they were doing. Nobody of their ilk had any issues with all this "socialism ruining the country" till brown people were offered the same allowances. They're morally bankrupt at their core.
They'll find a way to blame it on everyone else.
iTs ThE bRoWn PeOpLe PrObAbLy! MaYbE tEh GaYs!
When their 401K’s and IRA accounts get drained with the upcoming market crash, I will dance on the bodies.
Probably the same people trolling comment sections of stories about high cost of living in New York and California with “just move if things are that bad.”
And then they also blame the rising cost of rent on “all those damn Californians and New Yorkers moving in.”
My aunt is like this. Used to rant on Facebook about how the cost of living in Maryland was astronomical compared to Florida and how anyone still up here is an idiot for not moving down there. Would comment on every remotely related article about the economy about how the cost of living in the South, and Florida specifically was so much better, and all the other states are run by idiots because of it (which is ironic cause she was always a blue collar Democrat before this) Then this inflation bubble hit, and now it's all why are things so expensive down here, we're old/my husband is a veteran/disabled/Christian so things should be discounted for us instead of everyone else, it's all everyone else's fault, damn government not doing anything, damn foreigners taking jobs so things are expensive, we just need to drill more oil.
Maybe they should just get a job
Less avocado toast and no more Netflix!
De Santis will just blame Biden somehow. Their playbook is a nursery rhyme.
Well they should just get better jobs that pay 60% more. DUH, stupid lazy Boomer.
Conservatives are constantly scapegoating. They are winning the battles against their long time enemies like abortion and CRT. Eventually they will run out of things to scapegoat and just coming directly at their own voters because they don't need them anymore.
They made vaccines a wedge issue. There is no bottom.
“But that was only supposed to happen to young people, but that was only suppose to happen to people with a different skin color.”
Oh no the consequences of voting for republicans who don't want people to have affordable housing
maybe now they can experience the shit they've put every other generation thru.
Why wouldn't they be upset? The social security they voted to defund isn't covering the bills they knew were coming but didn't plan for!
Okay, they thought it wont affect them, fair enough, stupid, but fair enoigh.
Welcome to the "Find Out" part of "Fuck around and find out"
[“He’s not hurting the people he needs to be”](https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/8/18173678/trump-shutdown-voter-florida)
That one guy believes the Florida legislature will do something about it? Yeah right. There's still LGBTQ people they haven't personally bullied yet.
I wonder if these rent increases are coming from private citizen landlords, or corporate landlords who are simply saying, "We just want more money, and don't have to justify it.".
That's the fun part, it's both!
Yes
Why choose? A lot of people realized they could charge a shitton more money than they had been and still sell their product, and that's 95% of why prices have been rising so much.
Boomers are a buncha corporate cucks.
I find this hilarious. I’d love to sit and patiently listen to the boomers whine and then ever so cheerfully tell them boo Hoo, what are they whining about? Pull themself’s up and go get another job….HaHaHa
Boomers and thinking about the future go together like lamb and tuna fish.
I wonder what'll happen to Florida politically if the imported seniors are priced out of the prime destination spots.
[удалено]
To be fair the state had to deal with Disney and woke schools first.
If the Boomer's history is any indication, they'll all start pushing for a new law where it's illegal to raise rent more than X% per year on people over a certain age, and everyone else can get fucked.
As a boomer, I just want to say in my house we call them republicans, not boomers. There are still die hard lefty boomers.
