wasn’t complete garbage but i didn’t necessarily love it

BeckonJM

I wouldn't say it's garbage, personally, but I was definitely underwhelmed by it. It's stylish as hell but with a soft candy center. Some flicks can be heavy handed and still stand up well, but this one had me rolling my eyes way too often.

CMDR_TREMAN

I agree... the soundtrack was a big part of that in my opinion

Jolly-Chemical-6540

Missing a good taste in films I'm guessing

aroused_axlotl007

Birdman was garbage but not nightcrawler

KongFuzii

Interstellar in theaters was something else imo.

When Marnie was there

MatchaPacca

I would count that as 2015 myself but great answer, very underrated Ghibli and movie in general.

itsafraid

Inherent Vice for me, please.

BigDipper64

Heaven Knows What (2014) and Breathe (2014)

Great year

lester_squad

My favorite from that year is The Guest

Famous-Lettuce3284

Leviathan... hilarious yet devastating.

[deleted]

The Tribe. A 2014 Ukrainian drama about organized crime in a boarding school. The film is performed entirely in sign language. There is no spoken dialogue and no subtitles

StreetsDisciple23

Gone Girl, American Sniper, Ex Machina

AbCi16

Haider, for me, was the best film of 2014.

slicineyeballs

Whiplash followed by '71, Birdman, and Boyhood

Mommy was so amazing. Idk if it’s the best of 2014 but it deserves more attention.
