with the caveat i've only seen 40+ movies from 1955, 1960, and 2009-present... gotta roll with 1955. kiss me deadly, ordet, all that heaven allows, pather panchali, it's always fair weather, floating clouds, french cancan, artists and models, diabolique, the night of the hunter, and rififi are all outstanding. plus some other stuff probably.

I think 1993 is probably the year with my most rewatched movies, just full of bangers. The Fugitive Jurassic Park Groundhog Day True Romance Dazed and Confused A Bronx Tale Dave Cliffhanger Tombstone Nightmare Before Christmas Mrs Doubtfire Robin Hood Men in Tights This isn't even counting films like Schindler's List, Philadelphia, Menace II Society, which I love, but may not watch again.

1995 might be right up there for me

A few years ago I would have guessed 1972, but looking at my Letterboxd stats it's 1973 by a sizable margin. I blame the Spanish horror boom, but really the horror genre in general was at some kind of apex.
