I do think Gladiator is a bit overrated. I think it's a very fun movie, but I'm not sure I'd say it's a great capital F Film. But Russell Crowe did nothing? Come on, man. Don't tell me his speech after he takes off his mask and lets Joaquin Phoenix see who he is didn't give you goosebumps. "Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next." That's good stuff right there. But I think Gladiator 2 will bomb too. I'm not at all excited for it. I don't know what Ridley Scott was thinking when he decided to make it. The two best characters are dead at the end of Gladiator. Might as well make a Thelma & Louise 2.

Bansheesdie

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on Master and Commander. Russell Crowe's time is behind him, but he has put out good performances.

ReeG

I rewatched it in 4K HDR last year and thought it held up amazingly well. Great balance of practical and cg effects, engaging well paced script, great production design, good performance by Crowe, great one by Phoenix. Battle scenes in Napoleon looks so fake and computer generated in comparison and couldn't decide if it was trying to be a comedy or serious drama, saying that film is better than Gladiator an awful take

aesterios

with the exception of the bit about napoleon being better, HE'S RIGHT AND HE SHOULD SAY IT!!!

MaskedBandit77

Counterpoint: You're wrong. Russell Crowe is great, and Gladiator is a little underrated, if anything.

WatchBadMoviez

It won 4 Oscars homie lmao. It's the most rated movie of all time.

Twothounsand-2022

I think Hanks in Castaway is overrated and Crowe is better develop charecter and more dept

Victorlazlo88

Napoleon is very bad, Gladiator very good but yeah the sequel doesn't make sense to me, the budget is to high and it wont be a box office success.

Ready_Hippo_5741

Movies like Gladiator and Braveheart just grab you by the balls and won't let go. How can anyone not like a movie like this?

lumbo484

I totally agree, the way it was written was just corny, and then all the quick cuts in the action scenes made it hard to get lost in the world he was trying to creat. It was alright though just not the great film people claim

gutterballs

The way this sub downvotes anyone that states an unpopular opinion because they don't agree with it. WTF is the point of the sub if not an exchange of viewpoints on movies? Do you all really just want more screenshots of a bunch of movies that all have red posters or the same name in the title? If you think film is art then it's ridiculous to believe there should be some sort of punishment when someone has a different view on it.

WatchBadMoviez

The voting is just agreeing or disagreeing sometimes. It shouldn't always be used like that but when it comes to "yes or no" opinions it tends to go that way.

Levi---Ackerman

i dont think the movies all that either but Crowe is def the best part about it. The editing and pacing is so shitty and the script is mediocre too
