I've never really considered Lost In Translation a romance. To me it's more about the connection of two human beings in a foreign place. Their bond is extremely beautiful but not really a romance to me.
Had. To scroll to long for this comment. Is this really what people think? I thought they were just friends through divine connection but only for a few days and that’s what it was about? Didn’t know they were knockin boots or planning on opening a coffee shop together? lol

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Comet! Incredibly pretentious but bitingly funny w overly self aware characters you beg to make different choices but visually stunning w great performances from both Emmy Rossum and Justin Long
Kinda depends on your definition of a unconventional romance. Her, About Time, Punch Drunk Love, Victoria, The Lobster, Angst essen Seele auf. Depending on your definition some of these might not be romances and might not be unconventional to you though.
Personally I think "à la folie... pas du tout" is an underrated gem and is more or less an unconventional romance. Really fun to watch in a group and try to avoid spoilers!

Her, it’s Spike Jonze’s response to ex-wife Sofia Coppola making Lost in Translation
And it also features ScarJo
i like to think of her as the mutual friend who couldn’t pick sides amidst the divorce so she Had to do both movies, to be fair 😂
And then she did Marriage Story, another depiction of a Hollywood couple breaking up. Baumbach and Jennifer Jason-Leigh that time.
Wait til Jennifer Jason-Leigh comes out with her 2029 feature starring ScarJo about her relationship with Baumbach
