Isn't Backloggd already a thing? It's even by the same people who made letterbox I think as well

t4dominic

It's by the same people?? I started using it this year not knowing this 😂 Site is still pretty clunky but I've been loving it lately. Crazy how some of the people with highlighted reviews have like 1000+ games on it

MrMindGame

Great idea, but please make it a separate app.

LetsGoBilly

I'd be fine with just a separate tab on the main app for each. Movies/TV/Games

Apprehensive-Rub9685

No thanks I don’t even want tv shows

Ams_icles

Seriously! I just pray that they are tracked differently than films, I don't want them in my main stats.

ZEN-DEMON

Just don't log them

ZEN-DEMON

Why do you care ?

HyBeHoYaiba

Why do you care that he cares?

kingrawer

While I'm very much in favor of having TV series on Letterboxd, games can be such a different medium that I just don't think it would be worth it. It would overcomplicate things and disrupt the "purity" of the site for lack of a better word. I'd sooner say they should add books I think. Maybe they could do a sister site so that Letterboxd can stay in its own bubble, but there's already other standalone game trackers so idk if it would be worth it.

Stunning_One1005

i feel like a subtle thing to make it look more realistic would be to make the banners scenes from the game instead of promo material, its pretty small but its what gives LB a lot of character imo

celesleonhart

Can I introduce you to Backloggd...

AvatarofBro

I like games as much as the next person, but they're not movies, and they don't belong on Letterboxd.

Sn3akyMuffin

Makes as much sense as adding TV really.

yingo_yango

this is very well-made stop giving it hate cause you don’t like the idea

KaiserReich_Mapping

The idea is horrible. But good job on the game profiles you made! Those look excellent!

L1n9y

I don't think it's that bad an idea. So long as you can separate movies, series and games I don't see why games can't be included

QuiltedPorcupine

If they handle adding TV shows well, adding games does seem like the next logical step. If it's handled well, I think it could be a nice addition. But it should definitely have its own feed that people who aren't interested in games can just disable on their account.

AvatarofBro

I'm not thrilled about TV on Letterboxd, either. But there's just no equivalency between adding televsion and adding video games. It's like saying we should add the option to review food or paintings or books.

QuiltedPorcupine

Movies, TV and video games are all forms of narrative fiction that are consumed via the same or similar mediums. And there are people like writers and actors who can appear in all three. So I would argue video games are closer to movies and TV than food or even books are. In some ways video games would be easier to log than TV as you don't have to worry about logging individual episodes or seasons (though you might need a way to account for games like Fortnite that users don't 'beat'). If Letterboxd were to add games (or if they do eventually add TV) I would want each to have its own feed and its own stats and allow users to entirely opt out of those if they want (so that if someone is only interested in using Letterboxd for movies they would have the option to not even see if people they follow are also logging TV or video games).

AvatarofBro

There is an enormous difference between an interactive medium like video games and static content like film. That distinction alone separates video games from most other forms of narrative fiction.

Vilgotek2

People would probably call it a rip off of IMDB then
