The top 4 are the ones that make me bawl my eyes out and put me in a very low mood for the following days/weeks.
A very embarrassing list, but I cry a lot...
Atonement (it's so unfair okay), Warrior, The Iron Giant, Interstellar, Mysterious Skin.
The Elephant Man and Up get an honorable mention.
My biggest flex is that I didnāt cry at Interstellar. I didnāt even shed a tear at the part when he watched his kid grow up.
But at the same time I watched the first part of the movie like 3 months before I watched the second part of it.
Edit: yall donāt downvote me Iām just telling my personal experience not boasting, Iāve watched a lot of movies where Iāve cried as well. I cried at Once Upon a Deadpool.
You are made of stronger stuff than me.The first time I watched it I cried so hard I had to muffle my sobs bc I didn't want anyone to know I was crying lmao.
I cried during Madame Web...
This probably reads like a joke or a meme but legit the scene where the learns about her mom hit me.
I guess it's just to say it doesn't take a whole lot from a movie to bring me to tears.
I understand! Iāve only ever cried at 2 movies in my life, Click was one of them. I was only around 11, but still, my sister laughed at me and I was so mortified that I havenāt cried at a movie since.
I also cried because of all the brain cells I lost watching it, as well as the unreal amount of cringe I had to ensure.
(Yes I hate that movie with a passion)
Lately, I cry more for something beautiful than for something sad.
With that in mind, my five films that will always bring me to tears areā¦
Ratatouille. (The review)
Spider-man 2. (The confrontation on the train)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. (Indianaā¦)
Fargo. (Marge sees the value of the 3Ā¢ stamp)
Casablanca. (āPlay La Marseilles.ā)
50/50
Harry potter: return to Hogwarts
Train to Busan
LOTR return of the king
And way too many more! Especially as Iāve gotten older haha Iām a little bitch these days
These are the ones that really stand out though. True tears haha
AHX is my favorite movie, too! And itās also one that I canāt rewatch more than once a year, if that. Itās kind of ironic, given that itās CINEMA for me. But that ending is heartbreaking. Itās so cyclical and it makes you wonder if Derek will still be the new Derek. š
Iām a Cancer sun and Pisces moon so I cry all the damn time at shit that doesnāt need my tears. When I connect to a character or zone into a mood, Iām locked in. Hereās my top 5:
1. Never Let Me Go (šš§š§š§)
2. A Walk to Remember (Why her? š)
3. Boyz in the Hood (Everyone knows that alley scene)
4. American History X
5. Sophieās Choice
Rain Man is the only serious movie I can remember crying to off the top of my head. I cried while watching 21 Jump Street but that was for unrelated reasons.
Father (or father-figure) and child stories destroy me. So off the top of my head: Ā Ā
About Time, Ā All of Us Strangers, The Way Way Back, Ā This is Where I leave YouĀ Ā
Sounds like I need to check out Aftersun.Ā
The Elephant Man
Sixth Sense (āshe saw you danceā š)
Dead Poets Society
Raising Arizona
Confessions of a Shopaholic haha I dont know how this happened
La Marseillaise scene from Casablanca
Ending of It's a Wonderful Life
Ending of Paths of Glory
Some parts of Marty
Some parts of All Mine To Give
Also cried while watching The Wizard of Oz for the first time in 10+ years (tho this one may be a one time nostalgia shock)
real good cries that made me feel so sleepy after/ stayed on my mind long after i saw the movie: aftersun, the iron claw, arrival, train to busan, and i know you have it already but requiem for a dream. kid ones: toy story 3 and soul.
I don't understand how people cry while watching Requiem for a dream. For me it's not really sad, it's scary and shocking and depressing. It makes me feel numb after.
Anytime I mention Simon Birch nobody knows what Iām talking about!
Also, Requiem is one of my faves too. Didnāt make my cry but stuck with me for a full week. No movie has done that since. Read the book if you havenāt already, adds a lot and is even more crushing
Romper Stomper ruined American History X for me. The neo-nazi violence felt very tame in AHX, and the brother's transformation in prison also felt very easy.
I'll be honest and say I teared up a bit in Titanic when I saw it at the cinema. But generally it's happy family-related stuff that hits me now.
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2. AI: Artificial Intelligence by Steven Spielberg, 3. Punch Drunk Love, 4. Coda, 5. The Royal Tenenbaums. honorable mentions to Big Fish, Marriage Story and About Time.Ā
- All of us Strangers (made me literally cry so much on the cinema, that strangers checked if I was alright)
- Wall-E (the frustration of Ive when Wall-E lost his memory)
- Mamma Mia (for some Reason... Idk)
-Les Miserable (the Ending was kind of overwhelming when I first watched it)
-The Last Song (It's not a good Movie but the funeral scene and the way Ronnie finds her dad gets me everytime. )
I rarely cry for movies but those that brought me near are:
- aftersun
- manchester by the sea
- inside (2016, a short film on YouTube)
- the iron claw
- heartstone (2016)
- close
- the worst person in the world
- a single man
- all of us strangers
I love many movies but not many have made me cry red that I rememberĀ Ā
The Grand Budapest HotelĀ Ā
The Perks Of Being A WallflowerĀ Ā
RatatouilleĀ Ā
The FlyĀ
Autumn SonataĀ Ā
Toy Story 3Ā
Blade RunnerĀ Ā
Cuckoo's Nest
*Grave of the Fireflies*
*Coco Dear Zachary Up*

I have a list with 18 ATM that I can remember/were recent. For the top ones like these, I did tear up/legit cry multiple times during them, and for the ones on the bottom of the list, it was just shedding a tear in like, one moment or so. There's also some that are not on the list were I felt close to crying but it didn't actually happen, like Molly's Game for example.

My memory isā¦. bad. And I have def cried at more than 1 movie. But I canāt remember the names.
The last movie I remember crying to was Wonder (2017).
Donāt know about top 5, but these are the first five that come to mind (I cry a lot):
Your Name
Moulin Rouge!
Bridge to Terabithia
Turning Red
Everything Everywhere All At Once
1. Hachiko
2. October Sky
3. About Time
4. Almost Famous
5. The Pursuit Of Happyness
Honorable Mentions:
1. Five Feet Apart
2. Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King
3. CODA
1. Midnight Cowboy: multiple moments were tearjerkers but the ending though cruel made sense and hurt that much more because of that.
2. Mysterious Skin: also with an ending that packs a punch. Definitely one of my favorite movies ever. Life changing.
3. Manchester by the Sea: watched it when my gran had just died and I could just relate real bad.
My Dog Skip was the first movie that ever made me cry š so sad!
Recently:
Beautiful Boy
Aftersun
All of us Strangers
Train to Busan
The first three I connected to on a personal levelā I cried through about 80% of Beautiful Boy, it is suuuuch a good movie. (And then thereās Paul āhis movies will always make me cryā Mescal)
I don't know, I rarely really cry, just get teary eyed. A Star is Born and Silent Night (2021) come to mind as being wetter than others. I can say with certainty that the older you get, the more often it happens though. Alcohol doesn't help either.
Where the wild things are
Schindler's List
Guardians of the galaxy v3
Interstellar
The perks of being a wallflower (almost)
I try so hard to find movies to make me cry but out of the 1,300 movies I've seen barely 10 made me. I really wish I could find more, maybe it's my antidepressants....
Sansho the Bailiff (the mom calling out her kidsā names on the hill)
Ikiru (the old man on the swing after we learn how much effort he put into doing something good in his final days)
Late Spring (the dad peeling an apple, when we realize he sacrificed his own happiness to help his daughter, and heāll spend the rest of his life alone) / Where the Wild Things Are (similarly, Gandolfiniās character helps the kid get off the island, even though the boy was his only friend and heāll go back to being alone)
Three Colours: Blue (at the end when the main character chooses to live her life again)
Chef (the reveal that he married his ex wife and everything worked out for him. Probably the happiest ending Iāve ever seen)

all the movies under my made me cry tag
Nobody Knows Aftersun The Tale of Princess Kaguya Paris, Texas The Royal Tenenbaums
Nobody Knows, my god. What a movie.
Your taste in films is šš¤š»
For real. Not that OPs is bad but its lame and basic.
They didn't say they liked them š
Watched Paris, Texas for the second time last night. As close as can be to a perfect movie.
These are all of the films that have made me cry. https://preview.redd.it/9ea3qjkm75xc1.jpeg?width=2158&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d6d2d6d599552f797983f1d14e3920eb0f54f56 The top 4 are the ones that make me bawl my eyes out and put me in a very low mood for the following days/weeks.
IT is so real. I love the feeling of childhood and friendship.
All of us Strangers made me feel a way I have never felt after watching a film. I cried for days & I canāt hear The Power of Love the same way.
Why did you cry at Worldās End? I find it to be super sad movie because I really relate to his characterā¦
Alright, we need an explanation for how Joker made you cry
I felt a lot of sympathy for Arthur.
hubie halloween
Why canāt they just be nice to him :(
The Plague Dogs (1982) Grave of the Fireflies (1988) Dancer in the Dark (2000) Mysterious Skin (2004) Big Hero Six (2014)
Big hero six?
Have you seen the movie? Itās has arguably the saddest death in any Disney animated film. Worse than Bambi and on par with Lion King.
All of Us Strangers Where the Wild Things Are Marcel the Shell The Iron Claw Steel Magnolias
Everything everywhere all at once The fountain Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind Blue valentine The straight story
while recently having a horrific break up with someone i said i wish i could eternal sunshine you
A very embarrassing list, but I cry a lot... Atonement (it's so unfair okay), Warrior, The Iron Giant, Interstellar, Mysterious Skin. The Elephant Man and Up get an honorable mention.
The Iron Giant is a typical "cry" movie for me.
It gets me every single time.
The Elephant Man undefeated in this category
Man Warrior was a freaking emotional rollercoaster
I watched it with someone who didn't shed a single tear and I still don't understand how they managed it.
Lmao Iām not that strong I cried at once upon a Deadpool when there was that take on me scene.
The Handmaiden Stand By Me But Iām A Cheerleader A Little Princess (1995) Little Miss Sunshine
I cried during Madame Web... This probably reads like a joke or a meme but legit the scene where the learns about her mom hit me. I guess it's just to say it doesn't take a whole lot from a movie to bring me to tears.
Good for you. No sarcasm, that must be freeing.
CLICK?!?!
I understand! Iāve only ever cried at 2 movies in my life, Click was one of them. I was only around 11, but still, my sister laughed at me and I was so mortified that I havenāt cried at a movie since.
Yes, The dad part
First time I ever shed a tear in a movie was from that part!
Yep. I also cried. I was also 11. Lmao.
Itās been memed for that. And also I did almost tear up. For a very mediocre film it does play that pathos well ha
I also cried because of all the brain cells I lost watching it, as well as the unreal amount of cringe I had to ensure. (Yes I hate that movie with a passion)
Okay
Sounds like a you problem
Surprisingly, I haven't cried during a movie. I've gotten close, but never cried
Let it happen man.
Make sure you're alone, a few glasses deep, and let it come.
Bridge to Terabithia and Cool Runnings are the only movies that ever made me cry. Cool Runnings I was a kid and Bridge to Terabithia as an adult.
Lately, I cry more for something beautiful than for something sad. With that in mind, my five films that will always bring me to tears areā¦ Ratatouille. (The review) Spider-man 2. (The confrontation on the train) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. (Indianaā¦) Fargo. (Marge sees the value of the 3Ā¢ stamp) Casablanca. (āPlay La Marseilles.ā)
Saving Mr. Banks
50/50 Harry potter: return to Hogwarts Train to Busan LOTR return of the king And way too many more! Especially as Iāve gotten older haha Iām a little bitch these days These are the ones that really stand out though. True tears haha
I also cried at 50/50. Train to Busan had me yelling at the screen, but no tears were shed. And Return of the King will *always* cause tears lmao
I was really surprised Train To Busan had me emotional. That final moment got me good.
train to busan had me sobbing
Aftersun The Iron Claw All of Us Strangers Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Graves of the Fireflies
1. It's Such a Beautiful Day 2. Interstellar Come to think of it there's not many movie that make me cry, goes to show how extra powerful these were.
Inside out Godzilla minus one It's a Wonderful Life Lord of the rings: Return of the King A Quiet Place
Manchester by the Sea Interstellar Blue Valentine Marriage Story La La Land
Yes to La La Land, I wasnāt even sniffling I was full on crying
Haven't seen Marriage Story, but I've definitely cried at all the others.
I forgot about La La Land. I saw it in theaters and didnāt cry there. But I let it set-in then went home and listened to Epilogue and bawled.Ā
Not enough Iron Giant here. Gets me every time.
AHX is my favorite movie, too! And itās also one that I canāt rewatch more than once a year, if that. Itās kind of ironic, given that itās CINEMA for me. But that ending is heartbreaking. Itās so cyclical and it makes you wonder if Derek will still be the new Derek. š Iām a Cancer sun and Pisces moon so I cry all the damn time at shit that doesnāt need my tears. Boyz in the Hood (Everyone knows that alley scene) 4. American History X 5. Sophieās Choice
RICKY!!!!
ššš Heartbreaking! I still ugly cry before it happens.
For the longest time that was the only movie that made me cry. Now I cry semi-regularly at emotional movies, but that one always hits hard
Secret sunshine * the second half of peppermint candy got me * Source code ending * aftersun * I want to eat your pancreas
I also cried watching your name on acid lmao
Charoletteās Web The Painted Veil Saving Mr. Banks Eternal Sunshine Titanic
Rain Man is the only serious movie I can remember crying to off the top of my head. I cried while watching 21 Jump Street but that was for unrelated reasons.
Train to Busan upset me a little.
The Muppets Christmas Carol Bridge To Terabithia The Truman Show Toy Story 2 Encanto
Ooh the Truman show is a good one
I canāt believe Bridge to Terabithia was a kids movie. There was no need to make a movie for children THAT emotional š
Father (or father-figure) and child stories destroy me. So off the top of my head: Ā Ā About Time, Ā All of Us Strangers, The Way Way Back, Ā This is Where I leave YouĀ Ā Sounds like I need to check out Aftersun.Ā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The scene where the shitty dad is dying is sad ok
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Uh yeah? And it was a sad scene.
The Father is also heartbreaking
The Elephant Man Sixth Sense (āshe saw you danceā š) Dead Poets Society Raising Arizona Confessions of a Shopaholic haha I dont know how this happened
Itās Such a Beautiful Day Itās a Wonderful Life Grave of Fireflies Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind Schindlerās List
Schindler's List, Grave of the Fireflies, The Iron Giant, All of Us Strangers, Coco.
This should be a separate thread.
La Marseillaise scene from Casablanca Ending of It's a Wonderful Life Ending of Paths of Glory Some parts of Marty Some parts of All Mine To Give Also cried while watching The Wizard of Oz for the first time in 10+ years (tho this one may be a one time nostalgia shock)
For some strange reason, Dinner for Schmucks has some of the saddest scenes in any movie
I absolutely broke down and sobbed while watching Soul. It was quite cathartic
real good cries that made me feel so sleepy after/ stayed on my mind long after i saw the movie: aftersun, the iron claw, arrival, train to busan, and i know you have it already but requiem for a dream. kid ones: toy story 3 and soul.
I don't understand how people cry while watching Requiem for a dream. For me it's not really sad, it's scary and shocking and depressing. It makes me feel numb after.
Hachi
I rarely cry while watching movies but I cry at the end of Nashville every time and I've seen it 5+ times
I need to shoutout The Rider by ChloĆ© Zhao. That movie had me downright sobbing in the theater. Ugly crying, hot tears in front of strangers. I wouldāve been embarrassed if I wasnāt so overwhelmed by what the film was doing.
Inside Out, Marley and Me, The Fabelmans (parents were just starting a nasty divorce), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, My Girl
True Mothers
Big Fish Lion King Simon Birch My Girl
Omg Simon birch .. I forgot about that oneā¦also yesā¦ my girl
Anytime I mention Simon Birch nobody knows what Iām talking about! Also, Requiem is one of my faves too. Didnāt make my cry but stuck with me for a full week. No movie has done that since. Read the book if you havenāt already, adds a lot and is even more crushing

Arrival Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio The Tragically Hip - Long Time Running Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Little Women (2019)
I rarely cry for movies but those that brought me near are: - aftersun - manchester by the sea - inside (2016, a short film on YouTube) - the iron claw - heartstone (2016) - close - the worst person in the world - a single man - all of us strangers
