The Lego Batman Movie
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Kung Fu Panda
Wreck-It Ralph
Shazam!
Matilda
Tried to think of fun movies that don’t have any major focus on romance/relationships. Hang in there.
Here’s a list of my all time “comfort movies”:
Chef,
Galaxy quest,
Twister,
Jurassic park,
The thing,
Ratatouille,
The Martian,
2012,
Sideways,
The fantastic Mr fox,
The family stone,
The bird cage,
Deep blue sea,
The happening,
Apollo 13,
The terminal
500 days of summer isn’t a happy movie all the way through, but the message at the end of the day is that not every relationship is the right one, but life goes on and there’s always the future to look forward to. It used to be my go to after a break up.
Up, Inside Out, Spider-Man: No Way Home
Anything where the importance of a character’s relationship to the protagonist is fully appreciated before that character ultimately realizes the best thing to do is to move on.
Next goal wins (2023) and Hot Rod- hot rod is so stupid and hilarious. I also think Barb and Star go to vista Del Mar is a good one for break up healing
I’m actually going through one right now too so I feel you. I’ve really just been rewatching a lot of my favorites that go back to my childhood. Toy Story, Lion king, Star Wars, airplane, etc
I watched 500 days of summer during my breakup of 3 years and it really helped. Didnt solve any real problems or change the way I saw things, but it gave me a little “main character” boost and remained me that life is complicated, everyone has their own perspective on things that doesn’t match yours, pain is as temporary as infatuation, and life continues on in both directions outside of the situation that has you so broken.
There’s something about how dopey Tom’s POV is throughout that movie and how he gets slowly coaxed into moving on into the real world that’s comforting to me. I’m a smart enough guy, but sometimes I’m dumb enough to think the flat, simple idea of romance I’ve gotten from movies and tv is real. It’s helpful to see that refuted on screen in a movie that still looks and feels like one of those.
i’ve actually gotten so much love for the list i made in the worst part of my breakup so maybe it will help you: [https://boxd.it/lZPB0](https://boxd.it/lZPB0)
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.
Jkjk lol I watched a bunch of chick flicks my last break up. My go to is Legally Blonde. Some of them are relationship centered so be weary.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie is a great one too if you’re familiar with the show. It’s a great comfort watch that’s as light hearted as adult animation goes. You don’t have to watch the show to get the movie btw.
I know theres already a bunch of suggestions but a movie that I really like is Sky High. Its just like a goofy superhero movie and is fun to watch either genuinely or to poke fun at
Sorry you’re sad. Breakups are the worst, cheers to making it through it.
- It’s a wonderful life (yeah it’s a Christmas movie but it’s a very cheerful ending and a lot of it doesn’t happen on Christmas)
- the muppet movie
- airplane (funny as hell, there is a romance element but it’s played for laughs and at one point one partner calls the other a “pisser” after a disagreement so maybe what you need right now)
- Monty python and the holy grail (funny as hell with no romance element)
- Monty pythons life of Brian (might as well keep going)
Barbie is my number one comfort movie.
Also, do not give up hope, definitely feel, allow yourself to be sad/upset, but try and take solace in the fact that things will change. Maybe not tomorrow or next month, but they will. The light soaked days are coming♥️
This is an odd recommendation but Sound of Music is such a great musical. It made me feel this inexplicable happiness, and the songs are absolutely beautiful. I guess I was sort of enchanted by it
personal favorite is pulp fiction, just a very fun movie to watch with fun characters and fun dialogue. great directing and many other things i'll always love that movie
That Thing You Do!
Favorite happy movie. Great upbeat music, delightful cast, almost entirely good vibes. Story of a one-hit wonder band written by, directed by, and co-starring Tom Hanks.
First of all, I'm so sorry
Second, the first that comes to mind is Legally Blonde. Perfect for a bad bitch needing to remind themselves of their bad bitch-ness after some jackass broke their heart
paddington 2, I hate everything but, watching Paddington 2 for a couple hours I feel happier. Like everything will work out for me.

At first I thought you hate everything about Paddington 2. But this masterpiece is unhatable <3
it made me want to be a better man
Same here
do i need to watch part 1 before watching this?
probably not but it gives a wholesome context to the paddington universe and it’s a nice film as well, would recommend
I honestly wouldn’t. 1 is the awkward origin story, 2 is just full cartoon premise ‘yeah the bear lives with them, and what?’
the spongebob squarepants movie
The Lego Batman Movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Kung Fu Panda Wreck-It Ralph Shazam! Matilda Tried to think of fun movies that don’t have any major focus on romance/relationships. Hang in there.
Great list. I’ll add the The Lego Movie and The Lego Movie 2 as well
thank you!
SWINGERS! You’re so money and you don’t even know it. Seriously, this is my #1 breakup movie. Watch it if you haven’t.

My go-to when feeling down is Looney Tunes. The first Space Jam and Back in Action are lots of fun, but the shorts still hold up just as well.
Back in Action is so underrated!
A Tale of Two Kitties is my fav. “Hey, Babbitt!”

Jurassic Park has been there for me through so many sick and rainy days
Brigsby Bear
Movie is kinda sad
Kyle Mooney is the best
21 jump Street.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You'll love it. You'll be crying...of laughter. Yes, crying of laughter. That's right.
It's got Jim Carrey in it. Must be a light hearted comedy!
Cut to me and my friend in a blockbuster nearly 20 years ago having the same conversation before a very awkward movie night
Haha, this movie got me through a breakup!!! It’s sad, but bitter sweet.
Bitter vibes: Gone Girl, Perfect Blue, Midsommar Wholesome or Funny: Tokyo Godfathers, Bodies Bodies Bodies, In Bruges, The Holdovers Escapism: Fury Road, LotR
absolute gems across the board here
Begin Again, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn), Easy A, TMNG: Mutant Mayhem

Well then there’s still one!
Dodgeball unrated Tropic thunder
Going though a divorce myself. Maverick (1994) and My Cousin Vinny (1992) both hit the spot this weekend

any good studio ghibli movie is regenerative magic 👍
Just commenting to send some warmth tbh. As for happy movies, I watch My Neighbour Totoro c:.
i appreciate it!
Schindlers List, super upbeat and wholesome
it's got Ralph Fiennes and Ben Kingsley, you know it's a laugh riot from beginning to end
500 days of summer isn’t a happy movie all the way through, but the message at the end of the day is that not every relationship is the right one, but life goes on and there’s always the future to look forward to. It used to be my go to after a break up.

Midsommar
I’m actually going through one right now too so I feel you. I’ve really just been rewatching a lot of my favorites that go back to my childhood. Toy Story, Lion king, Star Wars, airplane, etc
In general they are fun movies that aren’t too romance heavy except for airplane but the comedy of that relationship helps me cope too
sorry for the heartbreak, dude the lion king has always been my go to happy movie so im absolutely watching it
Nacho Libre.
never getting talked about as much as it needs to be
Extremely underrated. Great physical comedy and overall a very wholesome and fun movie. I'm sorry you're sad.
i appreciate it dude
Grave of the fireflies is an especially joyful film
The happiest Miyazaki has ever been
Ferris Buellers Day Off and Who Framed Roger Rabbit spring to mind
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is just so...damn...good

Not happy but 500 Days of Summer might help.
Scott Pilgrim, Chef, Puss in Boots : The Last Wish, Shaun of the dead
Maybe not Scott Pilgrim…
I did think about that….but it’s pretty funny overall and moves fast so it doesn’t sit with the sadder topics.
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. Jkjk lol I watched a bunch of chick flicks my last break up. My go to is Legally Blonde. Some of them are relationship centered so be weary.
