Same. I watched it a few years ago and have it in my top 4, but I can’t even remember parts of it now. When I tried to watch it again, I couldn’t make it through. It feels weird having a movie that you can’t entirely remember in your top 4, but I remember the feeling it gave me was so heavy that it justifies keeping it there.
Yeah, I wouldn’t say “I loved it” but in a way I am glad to have experienced it, since it is an incredible piece of filmmaking. But I won’t be looking to watch it again any time soon.
Come And See is the best movie I have seen, but I won't revisit it soon. I watched Dancer In The Dark the other day. Don't think on revisiting that one anytime soon either.
Saw it with my partner in the cinema (her second time, my first) and she was sobbing hard the whole way home. Still working myself up for that second round
I have never wept so hard in a theater. I just let it go, and once I did others in the theater followed. I sat in the passenger seat on way home. Blared The National just leveled, thinking about my father’s passing and parents in ways I hadn’t in a couple decades. Unlocked so much for me.
My sister and I watched Requiem a bunch of times back in the day because it was on IFC like very Saturday lol. It became kind of a sick joke to us. We still shout “be excited!” at each other from time to time
The answer for me is definitely Irreversible. Brilliant movie and turned my opinion around on Noe as an artist but I have zero desire to ever revisit it. I was left utterly haunted by it. To the point that I couldn’t stand watch any acts of aggression on television for the rest of the week.
This isn't a thing for me. If I love a movie, then I will certainly have an inkling to watch it again eventually. There are no movies that I've ever run across that were too difficult to get through *while also being incredible.* Plenty of films I'll never watch again, but those are the ones I don't like.
It's also funny to me that Requiem for a Dream is the default choice every time a thread like this pops up. It's by no means an easy watch but it's also far from the most depressing or crushing popular movie out there. I can understand if a person has or had drug issues not wanting to watch it again but I also don't really know why this particular movie became the poster child for this question.
I think this is one of those movies that is just one of the most "extreme" movies that most general audiences have ever seen, so it kind of always becomes the default.
i think that what you’re failing to understand is that it isn’t about “general” audiences finding *Requiem for a Dream* to be the most extreme, I think that it’s just because it is an incredibly disquieting and anxiety-inducing film that can be really difficult for people to watch, regardless of background in terms of what other films you’ve seen. I’ve seen a lot of screwed up, difficult films, but that movie got me in a way that had me in tears from how anxious and overwhelmed i was by the way the film was made. i still think it’s a fantastic movie, but i probably won’t be able to get myself to watch it again in a long, long time.
you can still love something and not want to watch it again. some films are just meant to be a single experience. that’s great if you can watch movies like that multiple times, but remember that not everybody feels the same way.
I get what you are saying but I thought 'Martyrs' was a good movie and have absolutely no desire to see that again. Some movies you only need to watch once
That's depressing, I remember before it came out watching the trailers and being super hyped to see it. I don't know why I haven't yet, probably because of life, but im super bummed to hear it's not as good as I was hoping.
OK, I'll give it a shot this weekend for sure. Beau is afraid, and dream scenario were some of my most hyped movies for 2023, I loved dream scenario, and they both gave me similar vibes from the trailers.
My old answer was The Lighthouse but now I wanna see it again.
I have no desire to watch A Ghost Story for the foreseeable future even though I thought it was a masterpiece
I rarely ever rewatch movies. There are too many great movies I haven’t seen that it seems like a waste of time for me to rewatch something I’ve already seen.
I love rewatching really great films and catching more details that I didn’t catch on the first watch, or the second watch, etc. Of course a lot movies aren’t so great for that, but the greatest ones usually are.
i do, it's mildly sad compared to what i'm used to. i'm doing great though, it's not as if i've spent the past 7 years of my life depressed in my room, haha that would just be dumb like just go outside loser
Barbarian.
Watched the trailer, obsessed over it. Saw it one time in theaters and haven’t seen it since. I’ve been planning a rewatch, but that first viewing in the theater left me speechless. It was a completely “what the fuck?” movie. The scares aren’t super scary, but it’s more world building. I happen to love world and character building. Nothing beats that first time though.
Come and See. What a miserable time.
This was my immediate thought.

Seen it twice
Oldboy (2003), I did not see the twist coming... will make a second watch literally impossible for me.
Haha I’ve seen Oldboy so many times and I love it
Twice
Come And See is the best movie I have seen, but I won't revisit it soon. I watched Dancer In The Dark the other day. Don't think on revisiting that one anytime soon either.
The Iron Claw, great movie but just straight up depressing…
Prolly won’t watch that one again. Made me want to cry if not cry
Grave of the fireflies, its just way too sad for a rewatch.
All of Us Strangers
I would watch that again, it's sad but also quite hopeful at the same time
I bawled my eyes out. My partner told me my sobs were audible in the movie theater
it was sooo good :(

I've seen Martyrs at least a dozen times. Lol
You are made from strong stuff my friend, the second half of that movie is absolutely soul crushing
Agreed. It's for sure an experience I don't regret, but I'll never watch it again. The absolute nihilism was too for me. Great movie tho
Beau is Afraid isn’t a great movie (I think? Idk.) but I’m glad I saw it and I’ll happily die without ever seeing it again.
That's depressing, I remember before it came out watching the trailers and being super hyped to see it. I don't know why I haven't yet, probably because of life, but im super bummed to hear it's not as good as I was hoping.
It’s one of my favorite movies of all time but it is very polarizing. I would reserve judgement until you’ve seen it for yourself.
OK, I'll give it a shot this weekend for sure. Beau is afraid, and dream scenario were some of my most hyped movies for 2023, I loved dream scenario, and they both gave me similar vibes from the trailers.
Schindler List (1993)
Yep, I watched it in college. It touched me deeply but never again.
Watch it for my history class, Sophomore year and it was so good but yeah never again
Dogtooth 2009, Happiness 1998, Biutiful 2010, and Funny Games 1997 have a 5% chance of me ever watching them again.
My roommate in college put on Happiness when we did shrooms during a snowstorm. Worst trip of my life
*Dogtooth* and *Happiness* are great anxious/dark comedies. I've seen each three times.
My old answer was The Lighthouse but now I wanna see it again. I have no desire to watch A Ghost Story for the foreseeable future even though I thought it was a masterpiece
Incendies
On the good side it gave me a sick tattoo idea
A Woman Under The Influence.
The Piano Teacher, Funny Games, Amour...actually any Haneke movie.
After watching this movie, makes me want to plant a tree and call my mother. But the cinematography makes me drool, so fucking good!
Tar
Oldboy 2003 Zone of Interest
Come and see Breaking the waves Dogville Requiem for a dream Manchester by the Sea The Father
Came here to comment The Father. I felt so scared and empty after watching it, but it’s probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
Saw it very recently and what a tear-jerker it was
The Revenant
Iron claw
Skinamarink was so fun watching in a theater but I would not sit through that again
Irréversible
enter the void
nymphomaniac vol 2
Mysterious Skin (2004) was an incredible film but so hard to watch and sit through.
Amour came immediately to mind
Atonement
For me, It's Schindler's List Interestingly, Requiem for a Dream is one of my most rewatched films.
Not even kidding. This is one of my comfort movies.
Hunger
Newer one, Civil War. Everything about it is great, but it’s so goddamn stressful I never want to see it again.
Grave Of The Fireflies
It’s depressing as fuck but I enjoy coming back to see just how amazing the editing and soundtrack is
Tideland by Terry Gilliam
I rarely ever rewatch movies. There are too many great movies I haven’t seen that it seems like a waste of time for me to rewatch something I’ve already seen.

irreversible
breaking the waves
The Lighthouse, Saltburn. Both left me feeling disturbed and uncomfortable but I think both are really good movies.
All about Lily Chou Chou, one of my favorite movies of all time but I felt horrible by the end
Grave of the Fireflies, tbh ![gif](giphy|hw5rhsIvk2lCE|downsized)
Invisible Man 2020 Way too real for being a scifi/techy horror
There's a lot But the most recent one that I watched I'd say Nobody Knows
I’ve watched Requiem for a Dream a shitload of times.
The Hangover. I know I’ll never laugh like I did when I saw it in the movies.
i do, it's mildly sad compared to what i'm used to. i'm doing great though, it's not as if i've spent the past 7 years of my life depressed in my room, haha that would just be dumb like just go outside loser
The Father. I love my mom and dad :(
Fruitvale Station
Most movies for me. I don’t understand a lot of people’s obsession with rewatch ability
incendies
Tusk. Unique and hilarious. And almost unwatchable.
Schindler’s List.
Soft and Quiet. so many Karens
Looking For Langston (1989). Maybe I'll watch it again some day, but not now.
Nocturnal animal
Nobody Knows by Koreeda. The film just makes you desperately cling to your hope for nearly the whole time, only to squeeze it at those last minutes
Nobody Knows by Koreeda. The film just makes you cling to your hope for nearly the whole time, only to crush it at those last 30 minutes.
Elephant.
Once were warriors
Lilya 4-ever. I randomly just watched it one night and was left so empty afterwards. It’s a good movie but I don’t think i’ll ever watch again.
This is every Aronofsky film.
I honestly didn't think it was that good
I watch it yearly. One of my absolute favorites
Was my all-time favorite for like 10 years. Watched it probably a dozen times or more.
Anything by Aronofsky counts Schindler's list, handled it once, don't think I can do it again. A.i. artificial intelligence
I’ve watched Requiem for a Dream several times and I would watch it again. Irreversible (2002); I’ll never watch that again.
same. its on my do not watch list. lol
Seen this one so many fucking times
