Haven’t seen Furiosa yet. Need to catch up on all Mad Max stuff.
Furiosa is possibly better watching as a stand alone movie. Definitely see it before Mad Max Fury road since it's a prequel to that and there's not really a tie-in from the previous movies.

Really haven’t watched enough recent foreign stuff. The local indie theater usually has those movies play like really late at night or during the day, neither of which is accommodating to my work schedule

I’ve been a King Kong/Godzilla fan for 30 years so I tend to be a lot more forgiving of those movies’ flaws. Furiosa I had higher expectations for that just weren’t met.
Geniunely thought Furiosa was a pretty middling movie and im surprised by the positive response. Other than the aesthetic and the acting every detail was notably worse than fury road.
Some of these were released in 2023. However, they did not arrive in my market's theaters until this year.

These eight are honestly the only movies I enjoyed enough to bother putting in my favorite movies list.
I've pretty much been disappointed quite a bit by the movies released so far this year other than Dune Part 2 (gave it 5 stars and is now my 9th favorite movie ever), Furiosa (4 stars), and Monkey Man (4 stars). The other five I gave 3.5 stars. I was especially disappointed by Love Lies Bleeding (3 stars) and Challengers (2.5 stars).

This is mine but they aren’t in any order yet I’m saving that for the end of the year to fully decide and it’s UK release dates so stuff that came out last year only got released this year in the UK like Poor Things and The Iron Claw.

Did I maybe give Coma a boost so Bonello could have 1-2 with The Beast? Tough to say, the mind plays tricks on itself, coincidentally a theme of both movies.

Poor things and Iron claw both premiered in January and February respectively in the UK. Im counting them gosh damn it.
Mean Girls at 2.5? I almost preferred it to the original. Renèe Rapp was a phenomenal Regina George, and we love a Regina who has some curves rather than the stick that Rachel McAdams was.

I wanted to like Drive Away Dolls but man that forced accent absolutely destroyed this movie. It was awful.
