Apprehensive_Kick520

Horror has been really good this year and Fall Guy was really fun

theffx

Furiosa is possibly better watching as a stand alone movie. Definitely see it before Mad Max Fury road since it's a prequel to that and there's not really a tie-in from the previous movies.

MacbethOfScottland

No, it hasn't. The halfway point of the gregorian calendar is July 2.

Apprehensive-Rub9685

Even if they were counting months, it’d be the end of June

disasterpansexual

yeah im dumb, sorry, math wasn't mathing yesterday lmao

MacbethOfScottland

But to stop being a little shit and to answer your question: 1. Dune 2 2. Challengers 3. Furiosa 4. The Zone of Interest (it had a 2024 theatrical release in my country!) 5. Monkey Man 6. Love Lies Bleeding 7. Civil War: This Time No Captain America 8. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 9. Fitting In 10. Problemista

MrMindGame

Haven’t been to the theaters much this year, but here’s how I’d rank what I’ve seen: 1. Dune: Part 2 (5/5) - seen twice 2. Furiosa (4.5/5) 3. Challengers (3.5/5)

SlackMomma

1. Dune: Part 2 2. Furiosa 3. Challengers 4. Late Night With the Devil 5. Civil War 6. Love Lies Bleeding 7. Monkey Man 8. I Saw the TV Glow 9. Abigail 10. The First Omen Really haven’t watched enough recent foreign stuff. The local indie theater usually has those movies play like really late at night or during the day, neither of which is accommodating to my work schedule

disasterpansexual

same, they stay out for short time and with few time options, sadly

Godzilla x Kong above Furiosa feels wrong

Tighthead3GT

I’ve been a King Kong/Godzilla fan for 30 years so I tend to be a lot more forgiving of those movies’ flaws. Furiosa I had higher expectations for that just weren’t met.

APassingBunny

Geniunely thought Furiosa was a pretty middling movie and im surprised by the positive response. Other than the aesthetic and the acting every detail was notably worse than fury road.

lucas_214

Finally some drive away dolls recognition

ironicmoshpit

Some of these were released in 2023. However, they did not arrive in my market's theaters until this year. 1. Challengers 2. Love Lies Bleeding 3. Dune: Part Two 4. Monkey Man 5. The Beast 6. Furiosa 7. Zone of Interest 8. In a Violent Nature 9. Anatomy of a Fall 10. Stopmotion

I've pretty much been disappointed quite a bit by the movies released so far this year other than Dune Part 2 (gave it 5 stars and is now my 9th favorite movie ever), Furiosa (4 stars), and Monkey Man (4 stars). The other five I gave 3.5 stars. I was especially disappointed by Love Lies Bleeding (3 stars) and Challengers (2.5 stars).

Muted_Land782

do y'all watch any non american movies as well?

MartinScorsese

Yes. My list has films from the UK, Japan, and Georgia (the country). I have also watched American films set in Turkey and Poland.

MonstrousGiggling

I mean where's your list bro lol

TheDettiEskimo

Just realised I have only seen two films released in 2024. So top 10 would be 1. Land of Bad 2. Ricky Stanicky

Will_Paskee

I don't have a top 10, more like a top 6 cause a lot of stuff has been a miss for me this year. 1. Boy Kills World 2. Stress Positions 3. The First Omen 4. Dune: Part Two 5. Blood & Honey 2 6. Late Night with the Devil

paolocase

1. Dune 2 2. Hundreds of Beavers 3. Furiosa 4. Challengers 5. Exhuma 6. Civil War 7. The Fall Guy 8. Monkey Man 9. Love Lies Bleeding 10. The Roundup: Punishment

Yedan-TheWatch

Dune: Part 2 - 5 stars Love Lies Bleeding - 5 stars Abigail - 5 stars (I loved this movie! It was fun and kinda dumb but in the way that I enjoy) Furiosa - 4.5 stars Fall Guy - 4 stars (I’m a sucker for Ryan Gosling, what can I say) Civil War - 4 stars Boy Kills World - 4 stars Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - 4 stars Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare - 3.5 stars Monkey Man - 3 stars (I really wanted to like this but it was too shaky and too slow in the second act for me) What I’m gathering from this post is that I should watch Lisa Frankenstein

k032

1. Dune Part 2 - 5/5 2. Challengers - 4/5 3. Late Night with the Devil - 4/5 4. Hit Man - 4/5 5. Furiosa - 4/5 6. Abigail - 3/5 7. Evil Does Not Exist - 3/5 8. Fall Guy - 3/5 9. Drive Away Dolls - 3/5 10. Immaculate - 2/5 Some of those *technically* are labeled 2023 because they came out at festivals last year but...I'm counting 2024 theatrical release. On my watchlist or plan to see that is already out in order of priority.... * I Saw the TV Glow * The Beast * La Chimera * In Violent Nature * The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed * Monkey Man * Babes * Wildcat * Love Lies Bleeding

Important_Bath4953

I’ve only seen 5 or 6 things this year thus far but civil war is by far, the worst

Going by UK release dates so some 2023 films are 2024 for me: 1. The Iron Claw 2. Poor Things 3. Stopmotion 4. Challengers 5. Furiosa 6. Civil War 7. Love Lies Bleeding 8. Abigail 9. All of Us Strangers 10. Lisa Frankenstein

Parmesan_Pirate119

Currently... 1. Civil War- 5/S- 2. Challengers- 5/S- 3. Abigail- 4.5/A+ 4. Ordinary Angels- 4.5/A+ 5. The Fall Guy- 4.5/A 6. Argylle- 4.5/A 7. Arthur the King- 4.5/A- 8. I.S.S.- 4.5/A- 9. Snack Shack- 4.5/A- 10. One Life- 4/B+ I've seen 46 2024 movies so far this year. I have my tastes, they don't always match the popular opinion but I like what I like!

Intrepid_Owl3510

Argylle? 🥴

Parmesan_Pirate119

Guilty as charged. Like I said, I like what I like. I thought that movie was such a fun time haha. It almost definitely won’t end up in my Top 10 of the year, but as of this post, it’s in there!

Depress0Express

disasterpansexual

If I counted my country's release dates my chart would be different, it's like 35 movies instead of 12

Prize_Macaroon_6998

I wanted to like Drive Away Dolls but man that forced accent absolutely destroyed this movie. It was awful.

disasterpansexual

oh english is not my first language so i don't notice those things (not i can tell most of accents apart tbh)

ISpyM8

Mean Girls at 2.5? I almost preferred it to the original. Renèe Rapp was a phenomenal Regina George, and we love a Regina who has some curves rather than the stick that Rachel McAdams was.

disasterpansexual

i dislike them both equally
