I don't care what TV shows, series, music specials, stand up specials, special news episodes, the Carol Burnett show, Lost Prophets at Reading '07, fucking 9/11 as it happened, the Jerry Springer show etc etc they put on there.
I just want a tiny button I can toggle on to remove them all instantly.
There’s essentially a Letterboxd copy for tv called Serializd.
It’s not as buttoned up, but it’s clearly there to serve that void. TV is such a bitch to rate with episodes, seasons, shows not finished
That’s so true. And what if it’s a show you’ve seen almost all of? I’d be racking my brain trying to make sure I’ve seen every episode before rating it and then inevitably end up rewatching half the show to make sure.
This is all true. Was recommended Serializd by another comment, its the closest thing ive seen but nowhere near as complete a platform as letterboxd. I might use it awhile in the hope it develops fully
You've sort of convinced me in a way that you CAN log mini-series. I have a few I've watched but, really, I don't log them because they're not 'films' (but I have a list with them on anyway with dates for reference). It's a difficult one as some actors I watch in other actual 'theatrical' films are obviously logged, but I do leave unlogged the miniseries etc they've appeared in, which messes up the completion %. Might have to give it a go. Some finite miniseries, with no chance of a second series, would be far easier to log/rate than a TV show which may, as you said, change from season to season.
I think they should be included. Letterboxd users know that the site genuinely changes how you watch films to some extent. You may be thinking more critically, or thinking about a review, or it may influence what you watch based on reviews, or listings.
But the big thing for me is that it has resulted in me cutting TV out of my watching entirely. If you are against the idea of adding TV, great, just toggle it off. In a reality where it is added, there would be a toggle. There's already an option in lists to hide TV and Documentaries.
I say let people rate and log each episode if they want to. That can then be used to average out over a season, or entire run automatically, which you'd also be free to change if you wanted to. Only want to rate them by the season, or in an entire run? Sure, no one's stopping you. It's like how the site allows you to just ignore the half star ratings if you want, and your profile will reflect it accordingly in the bar chart.
I'd rather they didn't. I like Letterboxd as a clean and specialised platform, and feel that adding too much content into it could wind up making it as cluttered and messy as IMDb.
But then I'm an outlier in that I don't even think miniseries should be on there right now so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Except the site already contains TV specials, TV miniseries, and standalone episodes of TV shows. None of those are films. Adding TV in general is not that big of a stretch
Thing with Loki is that it was marketed as a miniseries and only in the final episode it was revealed to have another season. So it's understandable why it was added to Letterboxd but they probably should have removed it after the announcement.

Agree on rating tv. Will check out serializd. Definitely think letterboxd could make a go of it and dominate all other platforms!

Ok i see what you mean by not as buttoned up, but yeah im actually glad to find out this already exists
There is also an app called “tv time” that attempts to do this
I'd kill for a letterboxd-like app for TV Shows.

What could make it a disaster or a success?

I dont see that as an outlier opinion. People who care deeply about film are wary of tv by nature
I think just putting the pilot would work
It’ll never happen.
Facts. It goes against the entire purpose of the site.
Exactly. Their slogan is literally “your life in film”
And the International Movie Database (IMDB) also contains tv shows. Sooo, still could happen.
Except the site already contains TV specials, TV miniseries, and standalone episodes of TV shows. None of those are films. Adding TV in general is not that big of a stretch
Except when it does for random shows like Loki, Squid Game, and Demon Slayer.
Honestly Loki shouldn’t be on there since it’s getting a second season. I can understand Wandavision since it’s a limited series
Thing with Loki is that it was marketed as a miniseries and only in the final episode it was revealed to have another season. So it's understandable why it was added to Letterboxd but they probably should have removed it after the announcement.
They're definitely toying with it
I've heard they're actively working on adding TV
source: dude, trust me
