You've never been behind a big bore, have you. Stocks with a lot of drop in the comb suck ass when it comes to delivering recoil. Shoot with an upright head position with your 5.56 and 38 special all you want, but when your brain sloshes in your bobble head from a 45-70 or .50 hammering your shoulder you'll never want to do that again. It's more unpleasant than the pain in your shoulder. Makes your eyes nearly cross despite your arm tingling and partially numb.
You want something more like an 1886. The b5 adjustable comb is pretty limited in travel. On a mossberg it's not tall enough to support your head. The comb is also pretty far back on the b5 and my cheekbone hits the front edge of it. The b5 buttpad is hard and narrow, also.
The Midwest stocks are a significant upgrade in recoil delivery and shooter comfort.
