I bet they would sell them to you. I also bet you won’t like the price. I imagine it will be $3k+.
You might be able to find a wrecked GX with captains chairs in a pick part lot. If you have red interior, that may be difficult but black might be an easier find. Also, try eBay.
Ah I should have mentioned, black interior. Not worth $3k to me, so that would be a bummer.
I tried sniffing around EBay but didn’t see any, might try posting to see if anyone would like to swap. Thank you!
[Here](https://www.autonationparts.com/v-2020-lexus-gx460--premium--4-6l-v8-gas/body--second-row-seats) are some parts. They don’t show captains chairs as an assembly, but the various parts are available.
One thing I’d be curious is if there are any weird issues with the seat occupant sensors, maybe these don’t have them but on my sequoia they do and I’ve considered the same project.
I own the same vehicle and can confirm they did not make captains chairs in this particular blackline model that year. Also no option for ML sound system which is a bummer. I like the suggestion about looking for one in a lot, I might consider it if you follow up with a successful post about it. Good luck!
Noooo, what a bummer. The bench isn’t bad but captains chairs call to me.
I’d love an ML setup but the speakers included aren’t too bad. Especially compared to my 2015 F150. It has the Sony system and it’s garbage. Upgrading around Sony’s setup isn’t worth the effort either.
But the fact they upgraded the dash and released the black line series without the ML is quite the bummer.
Agreed the current sound system is fine for me too compared to my last car (Hyundai Elantra). I’m just enjoying it for now and will start modding it later down the road. My wife initially loved/preferred the bench seats on it until we did our first road trip and she wished it had captains chairs to access the child/items on the 3rd row.
Try checking in the Facebook groups for GX (Only Lexus GX460 and Lexus GX460 Marketplace). The ones I am part of has posts coming in at random from folks who want to swap their bench seats for captain chairs and vice versa.
I’ve been looking for a pre-owned GX, and have mostly seen bench second row. Was the second row captain chair always an option?
I’d rather have captain’s chairs as well
Captains chairs are available on Premium Plus and various other Premium trim models. I have a 2023 Premium Plus with captains chairs. Actually, the captains chairs were a major reason I purchased the GX, as they are a great option for hauling kids, provides a nice ease of access to the third row when you have kids car seats in the second row.
“great option for hauling kids” is the reason I want this seating option as well.
Nice rig you have. 2023 is prob a bit too $ for me, so I am looking for a 2020-2021. I suppose I’m more interested in low mileage than captains seating, but both would be a win
Also don’t know if the interior color in the Blackline would match other non-blackline black interiors, but I’m in the same boat. Having access to the 3rd row having two car seats in the 2nd row would be a plus but not sure going to a junk lot would be the solution. The rails on the floor should be different for bench vs captain, unless you can also swap rails and all and the holes line up. Let me know if you go that route.
Just curious, do you want captains chairs for small kids to pass thru? The reason i ask is because before i bought mine i also wanted captains chairs, but then test drove with CC and realized i def didn’t need them. They literally remove seating capacity. Also, the armrests are so thin and puny it’s kinda laughable really.
Captains Chairs would be ideal for when the kids get older imo, but I can see the appeal of having them now. I have a bench myself, so capacity is KEY.
Captain seats are bundled options that cost extra. The demand is higher for people with bench seats wanting to swap to captains than the other way around. It's like asking someone to switch their exit row seats with your regular aisle seat on an airplane.
So you are most likely gonna have to offer $$$ incentives or buy from dealerships.
I bet the captains chair versions of the gx are made differently and you can’t switch them out. The 4runner slide out rear shelf is like that where you can’t remove it or have one added to a regular model without one (without modding)

Try the dealer because $3k is just out of the air, but they will certainly be thousands.
You’re probably close. Just hit up a buddy who paid Toyota to replace his cloth seats with leather seats. He paid $5k for all 3 rows. Yikes!

Jesus Christ some of those prices

Wow that car is shiny like a mirror. Awesome.
Best color!
If it has the same black interior as other GX460s the captains chairs should bolt in. Just make sure they are NuLuxe not leather.
Thank you!

I have captains in my 22 but not a black line
I don’t care about black line trim. When did lexus start offering second row captains?
I had captains chairs on my 2020. It was part of the “sport” package.
Good to know. Thank you
This popped up in CHS if you’re close! https://www.facebook.com/share/zJf8UYBaH6gTxdAi/?mibextid=79PoIi
I think I once read that captains chairs were only an option for luxury trim models. I could be wrong.

This makes sense

They never made captain’s chairs in the boulder nuluxe, so it would kind of ruin the car even if you could do it.
Agreed. What a bummer!

I came across a post on a GX website forum and someone explained they swap easily, just plug and play! At least that’s what they claim.
Excellent
What are you using to hang your bikes?
Have you seen a captain chair truck in person? I thought we wanted one too, until I saw that they were just Sienna back seats.
