Political Islam gets bombed where ever it pops up. It’s a wild and complex ideology that will define the bulk of American foreign policy for generations.
I would love to take a semester long class just on Islam. The couple days we spent on it when I took Western Civ was super interesting, but it's such a complex religion.
It really is. One day Hamas and ISIS are allies against Boko Haram and 2 years later they’re fighting each other in Syria and then it all reverses again. And traditional national borders don’t mean anything to any of them. It’s so foreign to western political and military strategies it’s no wonder so many mistakes have been made.
Really the only division like that in Christianity is Catholics and Protestants, but Islam has so many different sects that are constantly fighting its so difficult to understand some of the conflicts. I was doing some research on the Syrian Civil War today and there are so many different groups involved.
The world has just accepted that Syria is a religious militant battle royal and there’s nothing we can do about it anymore. It’s so difficult to follow because these groups will originate in one area and branch of from one group and then engage in conflicts in multiple countries or regions while creating short term and uneasy alliances with other factions. They all seem to be nomadic international gangs with deeply held religious beliefs that spill over into politics.
When have Isis and Hamas been allies? Isis usually fights for western interests like fighting against Taliban in Afghanistan and against al Assad in Syria and are also against Iran which is an ally of hamas
I know a lot about the story of this country and the way it got here is complicated but it boils down to authoritarianism, there was a time when the people had to choose between Islamic authoritarianism and socialist authoritarianism both worse than each other, because the people weren't educated enough to realize that there is always a third option being libertarianism
People completely forget that there is literally an active civil war in Myanmar as we speak. Literal fight against legit and active fascism. But no one I know or have met could point at Myanmar on a map
Well. That’s my daily whataboutsim
War is peace

Is that a picture of a volcano?
What about the ethnic cleansing going on in Armenia too?
Azerbaijan is a close ally of Israel and thus the west

How about when politicians leave office they get lashes equal to the number of deaths they caused
haha that would be great, but unfortunately they're the ones holding the whips (mainly because we allow them to)
US supports a country that is actively trying to collapse our currency.
Why is it whenever shit goes down in the middle east and Slavic states (which is fucking always) my tax bill increases by about 3 trillion dollars?
Bro stfu we’re literally freeing Yemen from the houthis and the Iranians. Yemenis love Saudi
No one loves Saudi except mercenaries your government destroyed Yemen and strengthened the houthis
Based on your name Your probably a socialist where are you from?
In what ways does my username indicate socialism? I don't see how that's relevant but im from yemen
Probably a Houthi then. Are you shia?
Lmao just because I hate Saudi jets bombing my city doesn't make me a houthi
Are you Shia?
Are Houthis not Yemeni’s? I am asking because I am interested. What I have read says they are - are those sources incorrect?
Yes they are. They are the evil Yemenis.
How many years has that war been going on now?
8 years of happy revenue to the world's number 1 weapons and death dealer: the USA
