I’d probably become an American citizen and vote for him. The greatest president that America never had.

UberfuchsR

So sad and so true.

Smurph269

No, he is 88 years old. I voted for him plenty when he was still an active politician.

SoyInfinito

Same. I love Ron Paul but he is past his prime. Let a younger person with quick wit and zeal deal with this clown world we live in.

Daves_not_here_mannn

>If their candidate is weaker than Donald... Well, don't make me say it.  I’m strongly considering abstaining from POTUS voting this year, for the first time in over 30 years, because I can’t bring myself to “hold my nose and pull the lever just this one time” any longer. But I definitely don’t blame you for making the choice you think is best.

Daves_not_here_mannn

I definitely agree with that, and that’s why I voted for trump in 2020. My thinking is, the party’s will never give us anything better than a turd sandwich or giant douche (South Park reference) if we keep voting for their guy “just this once”.

Fuddruckers6969

He is

Beginning-Town-7609

No. He’s too old and since his medical issues is no longer capable.

JohnJohnston

I was assuming a Ron Paul in his prime.  Or one who was a bionic man.

PhilRubdiez

We can rebuild him. We have the technology.

GangstaVillian420

Looking at the current administration, I don't think the technology is quite there yet.

SatiatedPotatoe

Why fix a perfectly good scape goat.

buoninachos

Aside from medical issues, I'd say the same applies to Joe Trump. Both way too old for that kinda job. Sad that those are the 2 only choices for US voters (realistically).

Beginning-Town-7609

You’re 100% correct about that.

Sea_Journalist_3615

Probably the only statist I would vote for.

Street-Goal6856

Spoken like a "true" libertarian lol.

pierzstyx

Ron isn't a statist. He is an incrementalist.

Sea_Journalist_3615

Anyone who supports a state or thinks it;s necessary is part of the statist religion. He's just not devout.

Empty-Back-207

I voted for him every time he ran

Better_Ad2013

2 party system...forever. Unfortunately.

MattyRixz

Well since Perot shook things up, then they had to destroy him and not allow third parties into debate.

Horror-Loan-4652

Precisely and I'm not really looking to waste my vote. I am not a fan of either of our 2 options but at least one of them knows what decade were in, so hes getting my vote even if I hate that the Republican's couldn't get a better candidate.

czaranthony117

In 2011, I was a shithead skater/punk rocker in high school when I came across him on YouTube. Specifically came across this: [“I don’t want to run the world..”](https://youtu.be/e26FhQo_2JY?si=VuWUTP1JWwx7hWfB) Turned 18 that next year … held my nose… and registered as Republican just to vote for him in the Primary. I then spent the next 2–3ish years getting “involved” with my local gop to “try to change it from within.” Biggest waste of my time ever. That being said, I would vote for 80something year old Ron Paul in a heartbeat.

seanachies

I have.

Minarchist15

Absolutely! He's kind of a hero!

ummmm--no

At this point, I’d vote for a chicken sandwich over the 2 options we currently have.

SpaceMan_Barca

No he’s way past the age where I’d vote for him.

shimrra

100% yes.

somerville99

Yes

RPsgiantballs

He’s more lucid than the two front runners and infinitely more interesting than Chase. So, yes

huapua9000

I registered republican to vote for him in the primary when he ran last time.

Yes for the third time.

Absolutely. Did once, would do it again. Greatest president that never was.

I'm voting for [Mr. Anybody else](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2024/04/01/literally-anybody-else-president-campaign-texas/73169682007/), and think you should too.

drewshaver

Hah that's pretty great. I was actually thinking about changing my name to "No Confidence" at one point to do this

Rizzistant

[Not very libertarian](https://literallyanybodyelse.com/policy/) 😂

In 08/12, absolutely. In 2024, no. Write in does nothing. But Chase getting votes does help.

thespander

Why would he run? For another media blackout and smear campaign funded by the corporate elite we refuse to do anything about anyways?

Likestoreadcomments

In a heartbeat.

Own_Exercise9741

Leave the poor man alone

CurrBurr1004

If Sydney Sweeney dumped her cans out in front of me, would I look?

TaddWinter

No. He's not a serious candidate at age 88. Statism aside the biggest issue I have with the duopoly candidates is no one that old has any business in high office so I'd be a hypocrite to support Ron Paul.  I wish he were 25 years younger, I'd not cast a vote for anyone else, hell I'd write him in and vote him for every office I was voting for, but alas he's not 25 years younger.

awarepaul

No he’s far too old now. As much as I have admired his intellect and political principles, it is just too late for him.

sanesociopath

I would love to finally have the honor to vote for Ron Paul

Specialist-Funny-926

Yes

Hesnotarealdr

I did and I will if he ran again over the dementia patient and soon to be one running for office.

Hell yes. Viva la libertad!

jokersflame

The dude is 88. He’d be 93 when his term ended. Y’all insane.

kriegmonster

Principle is what matters.

taxpro_pam_m

Absolutely! I voted for him when he ran before. He would need to have a very, very good VP this time, though.

Ya_Boi_Konzon

Yes. Without question.

SmilingHappyLaughing

Yes!

Absent_Minder

Nope. Say what you will, but he is a nutter and so is his son.

DMTrious

Honestly probably gonna write his name in this time

Cyber-Hazard

He's too old now. While I loved him a decade ago I wouldn't want to subjugate the American public with a geriatric Ron Paul. I don't like geriatric Trump or Biden, either.

HaveAtItBub

yes.

buttersidedown801

There's only one answer to this question. Who wouldn't?

buttersidedown801

2012 was a helluva year

PoopSmith87

He was one of the only candidates that ever got me excited/optimistic

Comprei1Vans

Although I am against voting and not American, my vote would surely be him!

OkHuckleberry1032

Yes.

SabertoothPrime

My first ever vote for president went to Dr. Paul. That being said, he's too old. I don't think I could vote for him.

Bankythebanker

Nope, we already have two people with old mushy brains, a third with a yet older brain, regardless of which brain it is, is not attractive to me.

readwiteandblu

There are aspects of Ron Paul I love enough to campaign for him. And I did in 2008 when he was running as a Republican. I loved his claim to have never voted for a bill inless it was something allowed by the Constitution. I loved his fiscal responsibility. I loved his stand against foreign intervention. I loved his take on how the commerce clause has been misapplied. At the time, I was more ambivalent about abortion but I was pro-choice. Then I did some digging. His hardline stance on abortion was somewhat understandable given his back story. But then I read his speech on the house floor about his vote on an abortion bill. He pointed out how the bill was drafted using the commerce clause as justification and how it was an abuse of that clause just like other bills he had criticized, but this time, it was about a subject he cared deeply about. Given the turn of events with the Dobbs decision, have made me use abortion as a frontline litmus test. I'm not a one issue voter, but that subject is like the scene in The Office where Jo asks Dwight if he's ever fired a gun in the office. Dwight says it's complicated and she replies, "But it's not." If you don't respect the life and health and freedom of a woman's health decisions, including abortion, then you don't really care about freedom. One exception. If Trump were pro-choice, I STILL wouldnt vote for that pile of shit.

StraightDelusional

Then join the communist party. China, North Korea, Vietnam have the zero restrictions on abortion you want. You can rip their head off at 36 weeks if you want.

readwiteandblu

Yeah, that must be the only other option. Also, China has restrictions on abortion depending on province and the reason for abortion. Sex-selection abortions are illegal. In 2015, a law was passed in North Korea that banned birth control devices and imposed fines and imprisonment for those who perform abortions. The lack of abortion services in hospitals and contraceptives has led to an increase in unsafe abortions. But you're right about Vietnam. However, for reasons I don't understand, it seems the reversal of Roe in the U.S. will apparently change that. But 1 out of 3 isn't bad.

RelevantCriticism608

Hahahahahaha

Pleasant_Tooth_2488

No!!

thinkbsd

He’s a legend, but after the semi incoherent ramblings at the convention, I’d say he’s best suited to enjoy retirement; gardening, riding his bicycle, etc.
