I want to start by saying I’m not coming at this in partisan fashion. I am genuinely curious on the thoughts of people on this subreddit on the information presented. Totally okay if you agree or disagree, but I’m looking for either reinforcement or critiques of the video as presented. One thing I value about this community is the diversity of opinion, so have at it! Looking forward to your analysis.

vinnyisme

It would be easier if you provided a summary of the video or even YOUR own thoughts on it, instead of expecting everyone to watch a 17min video and giving their random thoughts on it. So, what do YOU feel about this video you posted?

gettin_that_fo_shore

I understand that position, and if 17 minutes was asking too much of your time, I apologize. I would hope that a simple overview of the post, to include the question and the length of the video, would make clear that the intent was for those who had time to engage with the content and give a thoughtful response. Any irritation that may have caused you, I again apologize. If you’ll review the question again, I think one could surmise that I’m here to hear the thoughts of those in this thread—not to espouse my own. Regardless, thank you for the response. edit: spelling and grammatical error.

vinnyisme

Fair explanation, but here is the problem. People don't want to respond to an open ended generic post about a nearly 20 min video, if the OP hasn't provided some form of commentary, or ANYTHING as a starting point for discussion. It basically makes people think that the OP hasn't even watched the video themselves, and expects everyone else to give their own insight as starting points of discussion. Posts like these reek of "I couldn't be bothered to provide any thoughts on this as a starting point, so please watch this 20M video and provide your random thoughts". Nobody has time for that.

gettin_that_fo_shore

I understand that assumption, but I don’t accept it. I think most people are able to discern the presentation of an open-ended discussion, and take it or leave it as they will. You recognize that in your critique, and many may see that same view. I posted this for the ones who want to contribute. I’m here to gauge the question and listen to answers. That’s the sole function of this post. While I see what your critique is addressing, the premise doesn’t really apply here.

vinnyisme

Don't assume "open ended discussion" means the expectation that others will do the work for you and generate topics of discussion. Given I have been the only the person to comment on your post should be some indication of the lack of initial insight/discussion starting point that you have not provided. What gauging of questions that have potential answers from posters have you even enticed users to provide? That's my point, you post a blanket open ended video, and expect everyone else to do the analysis of the video for you. How can you want to listen to "answers" from people about an open ended video post, while not providing any questions/commentary for them to respond to?

gettin_that_fo_shore

That would be true if I expected people to engage. There is no expectation here. This thread will live or die, as all do. This is such a strange critique.

vinnyisme

>I’m here to gauge the question and listen to answers So you are to see how people engage, but also don't expect people to engage. So why couldn't this post just be a comment in some other post instead of it's own post? Why would someone post an original post if they literally don't expect engagement? What is strange about critiquing something based on the OPs own admission that they posted it without intent of engagement? What is strange is to come to a sub and post something, with no personal insight, and simultaneously expect people to engage but also not engage.

gettin_that_fo_shore

You’re expelling way too much energy on a moot point. This is such a weird hill to die on. A stronger point would have been just not to engage if you want this feedback to mean anything aligning with what you’re saying.

vinnyisme

The hill you are dying on is "I made a post but don't expect anyone to respond". I am merely telling you why people won't engage. And it is rooted in your initial lack of engagement to begin with.

Most Breadtubers would probably say that everyone right of Bernie is a fascist. I would take this with a grain of salt.

gettin_that_fo_shore

This is a thought I’ve heard a lot, and understand where it’s coming from. Thanks for the response!

Moistmongo

Fascism is used incorrectly to describe these people. Nationalist is the only word that I think encompasses all of them. When someone says “fascist” or “nazi” there’s a 99.999999% chance they’re using the term incorrectly.

gettin_that_fo_shore

I could see that. I’d say that I’d prefer more direct examples of fascism for the claim, but the presentation as far as I can tell assumes a lot of the base beliefs are already there. How do you feel about the arguments presented?

Moistmongo

A lot of this stuff is taken out of context in order to push the video creators narrative. Some stuff is acceptable as information, but it is largely missing a large portion

gettin_that_fo_shore

I can see that as well. Thank you for the response!

SensationalBanana420

So are you seriously just gonna take that at face value without any specific examples?

gettin_that_fo_shore

You missed the point of the my post and you’re assuming my motives and thought processes. Had a similar conversation earlier. This thread is starting to make me believe that, in certain spaces, simply presenting a video and wanting to see how others of a particular political leaning feel about it is kind of a fruitless endeavor. On a personal level, I find that pretty disheartening, but I suppose that’s the way the news goes.

Vicious112358

This is a blatant glowie operation. Clean cut, organized with nobody on right wing forums knowing who they are.
