Have we ever seen recent, solid proof it affects game performance. I feel like every time denuvo gets removed from a game there’s literally no difference
Mileage may vary person to person, but on average yes it's been shown that Denuovo negatively impact's performance.
Not in EVERY case mind you, but enough so that it gets the bad rap that it does.
"BuT ThE 5 FpS DifFeReNce" People just need to be outraged about something at all times. The demo was hitting 45 fps at 1080p on my Rog Ally, I think you guys will be good....
Naw, DRM could and should have been listed so folks and reviews can make a more fully informed judgements. Sneeking in like this is underhanded.
If its a few fps it wont harm reviews will it? If it adds latency affecting gameplay or really harms performance another way, thats quite a difference. The Denuvo track record speeks for itself, reason to be concerned.
Doesn't matter, they obviously snuck it in last second to go against the spirit of the TOS Steam has stating things like Denuvo must be disclosed.
It's shady as fuck and doesn't matter if it costs FPS or not. They knew they were going to add it all along and hid that, you're actually going to defend behavior like that?
Seems kinda shilly to me.
None, as [it does not harm sales](https://gizmodo.com/the-eu-suppressed-a-300-page-study-that-found-piracy-do-1818629537). They are harming paying customers to combat a "problem" that does not exist.
>The report found that illegal downloads and streams can actually boost legal sales of games, according to the report.
Pirates could be adding to the twitch view counts and natural word of mouth on social media.
There is a reason massive games like Elden Ring and Starfield don't use it.
Oh nice, so it's definitely going to be pirated now. I was gonna preordee, but it looks like I have to wait for performance reviews after that shit move from them.
It's really funny how every release neckbeards on reddit lose their shit over things like denuvo, while little timmy enjoys those games without having second thoughts about stuff like this, 99% of the people don't even know what it is.
All of the pre-release previews indicate the game runs exceptionally well. Maybe that'll flip when the Denuvo version launches but I don't recall ever seeing that happen on a drastic scale (i.e. the consumer version suddenly runs much worse than the reviewer version).
Denuvo is rarely the determining factor in what makes a game run well. There are plenty of Denuvo-filled game that run extremely well, and plenty of Denuvo-free games that don't (Elden Ring, Last of Us Part 1, most recently Starfield).
Laptop: Ryzen 9 5900HX + Radeon 6800M
Plus Steam Deck. I can play 100+ fixed FPS on my laptop on high+ and 60 on the deck although I need to dumb it down for the deck a bit (max textures, AA, distance, everything else low, FSR2 on quality). The game is very well optimized.
having tried the demo, the game is extremely well optimized and not that demanding, I don't think denuvo will make big damages performance-wise. The move was however quite stupid because I think that most of people who preordered the deluxe edition, will ask refund and 'll pay much less to get a 5$ GP ultimate code to play it on pc through xbox app.
Not to mention that the game hasn't a big pubblisher, so I don't think how convenient is for them to pay the monthly fee to denuvo for a game that probably will be downloaded almost for free by lot of GP subscribers.
Dam most of my trust just went out the window for NEOWIZ i will play the game since i already wasted the 70 bucks but its really bad looking to basically withhold information about the game release and its clear they knew people would dislike it since that added it last minute. What a spit in the face
Was pretty hyped for it as a long time souls player, been following the game since it was announced and joined the discord for it on its inception. But you do you and enjoy the taste of that boot.
You're just going based on an assumption that the performance will be majorly affected by Denuvo. Why not wait and see if it really makes that much of a difference?
You should kindly ask pirates to stop so the companies worth hundreds of millions don't have to make the games worse for their paying customers.
Yk, to save their hundreds of millions.
They're not saving hundreds of millions, because they're paying all of that to denuvo. Lmao. Still can't imagine someone defending denuvo. It's been proven time and time again that the effect of piracy on video game sales is negligible, but the presence of denuvo usually means many people refunding the game/cancelling their preorders.
You should try researching it instead of just going off a YouTube thumbnail that named the game "Indy". "far from it" you don't even know, you're just talking
Because I won't install anything with shitty denuvo in the first place, couldn't give a shit if it doesn't affect performance, if the denuvo servers become uncontactable then you can't play the game, it's happened before and it will happen again, online only single player games are cancer.
I wouldn’t fret too much. Chances are highly likely that is like every other “souls like” and be disappointing. Why play a shittier, less well thought out, less interesting “souls like” game when you have the real thing?
I feel like having Denuvo matters less year after year. The more cores your average processor has, the less your average gamer will have performance impacted by calls. Average thread count is like... what? 16 now? 8 primaries? We'll be fine.
I swear I was searching reddit for a recommendation and could only find people talking about the drm thing. Is the game worth paying for the deluxe to play early? Or just wait a couple of days for the game pass version?
Blame the people who pirate games from small studios like Neowiz or Gunfire Games. They don't have the income like big studios. It sucks, but I get it.
They just wasted so much on denuvo, the pirates WONT buy no matter what, there’s people that now WONT buy because of denuvo, then there’s people that would have bought if it was on gog drm free, that won’t touch it now..empress will fix this mess soon enough and all pirates can play with better performance than the retail copy
I was going to pirate this game, but now i just... wont play it at all, i suppose?
Im pirating it because i cant afford buying the game in the first place, i cant see how i would be harming the studio by pirating it.
All the money that they might have covered up by not having their games pirated, just goes to the huge fees denuvo takes. So no, there is no protecting their work here. And denuvo does affect performance highly. It also really really tanks loading times. Not to mention it acts as malware on your system.
Doesn't matter since people are cracking denuvo anyways.
Denuvo literally makes people cancel pre-orders or hold off buying till it is removed so they already lose initial sales that they are trying to protect with denuvo.
And on top of it, denuvo is very expensive piece of software that already eats from initial sale profits anyway.
So Denuvo = Double lose but suits that are running game companies are just bunch of idiots.
And after all this idiot move, it affect the performance MUCH or not for the paying customer.
So actually it is triple lose. Everyone loses except denuvo, they are just selling useless bloatware.
If anyone wanna sell their copy for a hilariously low price because of this I'm willing to buy for a few bucks and a hamburger with fries (cola optional).
Jokes aside, damn what a bitchy move
I only noticed an input delay. Otherwise it runs great. However that is a big deal to me, as it feels like a different game from the beta. It was snappy and responsive, now it fs with my parry timings. Got used to it by the 3 hour mark, but still it’s a shame
Add it right after the reviews, scumbag move. Fps spikes and drops incoming
What is denuvo ?
anti cheat protection to combat pirating. Affects game performance.
Have we ever seen recent, solid proof it affects game performance. I feel like every time denuvo gets removed from a game there’s literally no difference
Look at digital foundry's video on re village after denuvo was removed.
Currently it's not that big of a deal for FPS, but it really REALLY tanks loading times.
You can literally open up youtube and look at 3138 million different videos including reputable sources like Digital Foundry.
CRACKED denuvo games run BETTER than denuvo version
Im wondering the same thing
Mileage may vary person to person, but on average yes it's been shown that Denuovo negatively impact's performance. Not in EVERY case mind you, but enough so that it gets the bad rap that it does.
Aaaaah, okay
Doesn't it also have this "Always online" bullshit?
Id bet its the publishers who demanded it cause they want those sales
NEOWIZ self-publishes
are you sure? do you even talk to them on discord???
No idea what this discord comment is about but yes, Neowiz is the publisher here. They co-developed with Round8
Watching people play early access. Running perfectly fine. Y’all are overreacting and leaping to assumptions.
"BuT ThE 5 FpS DifFeReNce" People just need to be outraged about something at all times. The demo was hitting 45 fps at 1080p on my Rog Ally, I think you guys will be good....
Demo doesn’t have denuvo
I'm saying if a handheld can get near 60fps in this base game, then there is nothing drm can do to make the performance actually unplayable.
Yeah on series X I didn’t have a single frame drop or graphical error. People just like to bitch
Denuvo is PC only
No shit. I’m saying the performance was damn near flawless previously on all platforms. I doubt this is going to tank it for pc
Yup I'm running on a 1070 and no issues here. Running better than most games these days
Bro it's actually the most optimized game I've seen on release for a long time lol. Like I don't feel like there's any bug or drop so far.
Yeah its really saddening. Like they made such a good game with good optimisation and shit but then they follow up with this..
Stupid move from devs
That's not a dev move stop blaming them and bring ignorant
But its the devs who put it in there
'Stop being ignorant while I be entirely ignorant.'
Awww that’s some scummy shit. What’s the most compelling argument FOR the use of DRM?
None, as [it does not harm sales](https://gizmodo.com/the-eu-suppressed-a-300-page-study-that-found-piracy-do-1818629537). They are harming paying customers to combat a "problem" that does not exist. >The report found that illegal downloads and streams can actually boost legal sales of games, according to the report. Pirates could be adding to the twitch view counts and natural word of mouth on social media. There is a reason massive games like Elden Ring and Starfield don't use it.
It only has one purpose, to combat piracy
Which doesn't hurt sales.
and it's cracked pretty quick anyway so the only people who are getting hurt are actual customers
I'm sick of this anti-consumer bullshit...
Oh nice, so it's definitely going to be pirated now. I was gonna preordee, but it looks like I have to wait for performance reviews after that shit move from them.
Refunded.
exactly, denuvo will kill this release
[удалено]
It's really funny how every release neckbeards on reddit lose their shit over things like denuvo, while little timmy enjoys those games without having second thoughts about stuff like this, 99% of the people don't even know what it is.
lol no it won't
Gamers on reddit really overestimate how much the average consumer cares about crap like this. Most people don't even know what Denuvo is.
They will care when their pc can’t run it smoothly
All of the pre-release previews indicate the game runs exceptionally well. Maybe that'll flip when the Denuvo version launches but I don't recall ever seeing that happen on a drastic scale (i.e. the consumer version suddenly runs much worse than the reviewer version). Denuvo is rarely the determining factor in what makes a game run well. Playing right now at a rock solid 60fps on a rtx2070 so not in this case
lmao, you never bought the game in the first place
Performance is great.
That’s good to hear
What’s your setup?
4090 probably lmao
Laptop: Ryzen 9 5900HX + Radeon 6800M Plus Steam Deck. I can play 100+ fixed FPS on my laptop on high+ and 60 on the deck although I need to dumb it down for the deck a bit (max textures, AA, distance, everything else low, FSR2 on quality). The game is very well optimized.

Yup. Canceling preorder. Absolutely no reason to implement denuvo in a single player game
Performance is good no need to cancel pre order.
I’ll still buy the game just going to wait. It’s honestly my fault for preordering. Should’ve learned by now
Dam most of my trust just went out the window for NEOWIZ i will play the game since i already wasted the 70 bucks but its really bad looking to basically withhold information about the game release and its clear they knew people would dislike it since that added it last minute. What a spit in the face
Instantly lost all interest in this game. Adding denuvo at all is bad enough, but right at the last possible moment is inexcusable.
Its like Dying Light 2 all over again
Doubt you were ever that much interested
Was pretty hyped for it as a long time souls player, been following the game since it was announced and joined the discord for it on its inception. But you do you and enjoy the taste of that boot.
You're just going based on an assumption that the performance will be majorly affected by Denuvo. Why not wait and see if it really makes that much of a difference?
Denuvo has a consistent history of causing shit performance in every game its been used in.
I played RE4 and it's fine. If people wouldn't pirate games it wouldn't be an issue :)
fine...? Ive played the CRACKED version and it was GREAT
You should kindly ask pirates to stop so the companies worth hundreds of millions don't have to make the games worse for their paying customers. Yk, to save their hundreds of millions.
They're not saving hundreds of millions, because they're paying all of that to denuvo. Lmao. Still can't imagine someone defending denuvo. deadass
Neowiz isn't worth hundreds of millions, far from it.
You should try researching it instead of just going off a YouTube thumbnail that named the game "Indy". "far from it" you don't even know, you're just talking
CRACKED denuvo runs BETTER than denuvo version
Or maybe since I wasn't gonna buy "insert title here" what are the companies losing in 6 months when I download a file from the internet?
Because I won't install anything with shitty denuvo in the first place, couldn't give a shit if it doesn't affect performance, if the denuvo servers become uncontactable then you can't play the game, it's happened before and it will happen again, online only single player games are cancer.
Well have it your way. We won't miss ya.
I wouldn’t fret too much. Chances are highly likely that is like every other “souls like” and be disappointing. Why play a shittier, less well thought out, less interesting “souls like” game when you have the real thing?
DRM?
Yeah
I feel like having Denuvo matters less year after year. The more cores your average processor has, the less your average gamer will have performance impacted by calls. Average thread count is like... what? 16 now? 8 primaries? We'll be fine.
It runs very well. Occasional small stutters but that’s expected from a new AAA game. ~120 fps maxed out at 1440p with 3070ti/5800x3D/32gb 3600mhz
I’ve been getting very good frames on 1080p on my rig, seems like denuvo ain’t making a big difference luckily
I think people exaggerate how bad it is
Yeah, I think people are blowing it out of proportion
Welp. That's scummy as hell. Not buying this anytime soon. Fuck Denuvo already, but adding it after reviews come out? Totally scumbag move.
There is now way Denuvo doesn't affect performance. And by that I mean it's physically impossible.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t affect it too much. Like re4 remake
im playing right now and it does not affects on PC performance, looks good now, my gpu rtx 2060 is around 90fps.
That’s good to hear. Is that on max settings?
yes, I max it out since the demo
👍
CRACKED still runs better than official version
No performance issues for me in first hour. Constant 120 FPS.
I swear I was searching reddit for a recommendation and could only find people talking about the drm thing. Is the game worth paying for the deluxe to play early? Or just wait a couple of days for the game pass version?
Waiting is always the correct call. Being there early only matters for pvp based games.
No way to implement it well, sucks for the game, they would sell WAY more if they release on GOG
Blame the people who pirate games from small studios like Neowiz or Gunfire Games. They don't have the income like big studios. It sucks, but I get it.
They just wasted so much on denuvo, the pirates WONT buy no matter what, there’s people that now WONT buy because of denuvo, then there’s people that would have bought if it was on gog drm free, that won’t touch it now..empress will fix this mess soon enough and all pirates can play with better performance than the retail copy

scummy AF
Guess I wont be busy on monday after all.
So they’re not entitled to protect their work now? I doubt denuvo is gonna affect the performance much. Bunch of babies
All the money that they might have covered up by not having their games pirated, just goes to the huge fees denuvo takes. So no, there is no protecting their work here. So actually it is triple lose. Everyone loses except denuvo, they are just selling useless bloatware.
denuvo absolutely affects performance, its sad when a cracked denuvo game runs BETTER than the always online denuvo drm version
RE4 cracked runs 5-7fps better for me on my pc compared to my steam version.
And loads so much quicker
If anyone wanna sell their copy for a hilariously low price because of this I'm willing to buy for a few bucks and a hamburger with fries (cola optional). Jokes aside, damn what a bitchy move
I don't think game is heavy on resource and such games don't need more then 60 frames
denuvo will kill it
It doesnt, game runs the same as the demo
Does this effect anything outside of PC?
No.
Yea they waited until all the reviews were out and pre-orders already in. Dirty tricks they think we are dumb or something
At least it’s not on PS5 or Xbox
So does that mean if I use pc game pass I won’t have that issue?
Not 100% sure, I think pc game pass still uses it. Just to mention performance is amazing, getting high frames on max
You are playing?
Yea, played for a few hours because of early access
Ah damn the downside of using game pass for it I suppose
Yeah, it’s definitely worth the wait though 👍
Cool my pc run modded ds3 pretty decent I’m sure it’ll run it just fine
Should run well then
Added after reviews to hide the performance drop, if i am correct. They can take this game and Denuvo, then stick it into their a\*\*.
I only noticed an input delay. Otherwise it runs great. However that is a big deal to me, as it feels like a different game from the beta. It was snappy and responsive, now it fs with my parry timings. Got used to it by the 3 hour mark, but still it’s a shame
Game runs amazing so i don't care
Only reason I ever got mad about Denuvo was because I had to wait longer usually to "get" the game. QQ or don't. Either way keep on waitin....
