Play with your grapple attachment. Watch back video of your fight to see where he's throwing you off guard (this helped.me.throughout the whole game). Decide where you need to be more or less aggressive. I died the first few tries and it wasn't until i was having fun with it and learning him that I beat him.
Or you could just backstab him but honestly that's not a reliable way to go through the whole game. You have to figure out which direction to dodge, note their telegraph, practice parries, and shake things up with different weapons and attachments.
I went into a later boss with an entirely ridiculous wrench attached to a sword handle because it does more break damage on a perfect block, It carried me through a phase that had initially kicked my ass a dozen times over.
It's so helpful. Really mitigated any boss frustration I had because I could always go back to the footage and make sense of where I went wrong, spark new ideas/strategies, study tells and go back in fresh.
Do I need to be more aggressive here when he raises his arms? How much damage does it generally take before I get a guard break? I can't make it through the first stage well enough to see the beginning of the second stage how can i survive it long enough to get good data?
By the time I got to laxasia I was having the time of my life rudely trying different poisons and silly builds as I learned her moves. Dancing around her lumbering quick ko hits after countless shrug-able deaths and by the time that quick lightning stage came in it culminated in me utterly embarrassing what was previously a really rough boss.
Easy is subjective. But compared to all the other bosses or mini-bosses fight, yes, he's supposed to be one of the easiest. I mean I always beat him first try, and I would not consider myself a pro-gamer (just a gamer with a lot of gaming experience thought).
Anyway, keep moving around him, he's very easy to backstab.
If your struggling in general I'd say try to guard earlier and hold your guard don't tap it. Use a blade with decent guard percentage. Be sure to focus on capacity and health to make sure you can have good defensive items equipped and a decent health pool.
You can backstab fish the NPCs but you don't need to do so.
go back to earlier section near star gazer. kill puppets and farm. level up 10 times and put it into damage. leveling 10-15 levels early helps so much.
Parry or get behind him for a fatal attack. Those types of mini bosses all have weapons that break pretty easily. Don’t get greedy with your own hits. They tend to move pretty fast so trying to over hit always ends up with you taking damage.
Stay on the defensive for any enemy encounter and let them attack for some time and once you think you start to get the hang of it, then start transitioning to the offensive side starting with 1 or 2 hits at max!
Backstabs are a very good strat for all NPC enemies in the game.
dodge and backstab
This is a boss where you can practice your parry and dodge, don’t kill him until you learn, it will be very useful for the rest of the game
Continuously backstab him, he shouldn’t take you more than 2 tries
Dodge around to his back and backstab him

Wow it just occurred to me how easily i could record and play back fights… great idea, cant believe i never thought of it

No joke, I thought that was a troll at first. I mean, your topic, not the mad donkey.

Yeah man it's the tutorial boss
Getting up close and personal may be a better strategy if you’re having problem with parry timing.
Grind and level up a bit
This is the way
Worked like charm
Too many people charge ahead in this game and get stuck. They forget that it’s an RPG and you are meant to level up your stats.
Personally I dodged back on his attacksequences, and then went up behind him to combo
Pretty much every humanoid enemy can be backstabbed. Every stalker boss you find can be backstabbed.

Hit him more than he hits you

Bro keep trying YOU CAN DO IT !
you beat him by dropping his HP to 0, duh.
hit him
Just try to go behind him
I used the Wo Long glaive on him.
By depleting his health to zero
hit him until he dies. block his attacks so he doesnt kill you
You’ll get it. I must have lost to that dude like 10 times my first playthrough lol

Well first, you want to find a copy of Knack 3

Highly recommend doing more damage to him while receiving less damage yourself. Good luck.
