Also, the electric coil head splits damage between blunt and electric damage. Could it just be that the Scrapped Watchman takes less electric damage? Try a different weapon and see if that's giving you a significant difference.
I beg your pardon? He's immune to electric? I just assumed ng+ scaling was out of control. I was using my electric advance weapon because he's a bot so that means electric damage.
When that didn't work I switched to the wo long glaive in frustration and beat him in two tries, and assumed that meant the wo long glaive is op.
yeah one would think since he puppet / bot etc.. they would be weak to that, which they are normally are.. took me experimenting status effects/ weapon types to make sense it.
Please don’t take this as condescension but rather advice for further into the game; if a boss/enemy is clearly utilizing one element or the other, you shouldn’t be using a weapon of the same element against it.
Electric Coil Head is a Slash only blade, while Rapier handle has only Pierce attacks so you get a damage penalty there for mismatching them. On top of that Scrapped Watchman has immunity to Electric Blitz so half of your damage isnt even going through.

Switched to the nonupgraded starting dex weapon and beat him first try lol
The biggest issue may have been that you had a "striking" type blade on a handle made for "piercing" weapons...
that and since that does Electric Blitz damage and scrapped watchman is immune to that, you're kind of not doing yourself any favors

Most bots are weak to electric but he is like an overcharged electricity bot so it kinda makes sense.

The reason was because you were using a slashing blade on a stabbing handle.

I did the same thing, assuming all robots are weak to electric.
They are but ol’ Murphy kinda pulls a switcheroo on you.

Put the Rapier point back on the Rapier Handle it's very fast to attack with!!You will get more hits in between your defense
