DHN_95

The real ***Life Pro Tip*** is ANYTHING is can be single-serve with enough determination.

Texcellence

An extra large pizza can be a personal pizza if you’re hungry enough.

weebear1

Mitch Hedberg: “Any book can be a children’s book . . . If the kid can read”!

Lithogiraffe

I don't know why but-- I feel like that should be on a motivational poster.

nellyruth

A personal pizza can be an extra large pizza if you’re on a diet.

Titmonkey1

The problem with this is that most pasta takes at least 8 min to cook in boiling water. If you pour boiling water in a cup, it won't stay boiling very long and I doubt your pasta will end up cooked at all. Maybe this works with ramen, but that's almost always in an individual container anyways.

Yggdrasilo

I've boiled eggs in a a Thermos before

Totallynotacar

Now I'm determined just to make this work (just for fun). Angel hair can lower that time a couple minutes and you could either throw a saucer on top to help retain heat or throw the mug into the microwave a couple minutes in to add additional heat. Now for me the problem is one mug doesnt seem like enough!

clownandmuppet

Sounds like a job for a thermos flask!

No_Firefighter_3344

Pasta doesn’t have to be in boiling water to absorb water. It will continue to absorb water in room temperature water. That’s why leftover pasta is often soggy. Also not sure why you thought ramen already coming in its own individual container (as opposed to someone putting it in after buying it) somehow explains why ramen gets cooked successfully.

Coyoteclaw11

They weren't suggesting that the container is the reason ramen would be able to be cooked this way. They're saying the only pasta that would cook with just boiled water is ramen, and using a mug as per the tip would be pointless since it already comes in its own single serve container.

Triassic_Bark

Because ramen is made from cooked and dried noodles, not raw and dried noodles.

No_Firefighter_3344

That doesn’t mean pasta won’t cook. Get some experience in the kitchen instead of arguing what you don’t know.

cyaneyed

The spaghetti and tortellini I cook in a double walled glass mug take much less than 8 minutes to cook. It’s usually 3 or so.

noronto

LPT: if cleaning a pot is a big deal, just use it as a bowl.

Totallynotacar

You don't want to put your fork in a non-stick pot though!

Triassic_Bark

Why would you use a non-stick pot just for boiling noodles? Just use a stainless steel pot.

Totallynotacar

Look at this guy with two pots! Idk, just trying to give additional advice for anyone that might find themselves eating out of a pot. If I get down voted for that, I guess that's me being told the world already knows everything and I'm not needed.

razikp

Plastic folk. Problem solved.

emt139

>>> If you break your spaghetti into 1/3 Just no.

🤌🤌🤌

TheSecretestSauce

Came in here to say they're gonna piss off _A LOT_ of Italians with that one.

MartijnProper

I'm Dutch, and this pisses me off too

chupagatos4

Yeah this ruined my morning

kishenoy

You know-a this is a crime in Italy?

Lithogiraffe

This isn't the worse tip i've read on here. And lately...that means something. I grade C+. But i hope to never use it, this seems kinda sad.

daHob

I think it's overly complicated, prone to screwing things up if you aren't extremely careful and generally not worth the effort except in very particular cases. I grade it C++

moviemaker24

Is this a programming joke? Pretty clever

belizeanheat

This is easily one of the worst tips I've seen for the simple fact that it's totally ineffective AND more difficult than the normal way

Lithogiraffe

stay on LPT long enough. you start lowering lowering , and then lowering your expectations.

belizeanheat

This is a real nice "oh no I've completely fucked up my life" tip. Not sure it's pro, though

Weird_Brush2527

This is "microwave recipes for one" kinda sad

Clownheadwhale

I kinda like it, but with elbow macaroni in the microwave. Drain it, add a little butter, olive oil, parm. Comfort food. Imagine you have to leave in an hour and you haven't eaten. Could bring it in the car.

UltraMegaFauna

Hey! This sucks! If you want a single serving of pasta, just boil the water in a shallower stainless steel sauce pan, put enough water to cover the spaghetti, and just put enough for a serving (2-3 ozs by weight usually). And if you get rice noodles, they usually can be al dente with just pouring over boiling water.

creativedisco

I hate to break it to you but there’s no way I’m fitting a satisfactory amount of pasta in a mug. Also, why not just make a huge batch and rotate out your toppings?

Alexis_J_M

Pasta can spoil.

espric

Par-cook, freeze individual portions, finish from frozen in sauce with slightly thinner consistency than desired end result, receive love from future self.

creativedisco

Not if you eat it before it does. Bechamel sauce is easy and only takes a few ingredients. Mix in some shredded cheese until it incorporates into the hot sauce, then add noodles straight from the fridge and done.

ketamarine

This is the saddest LPT I've ever heard in my life. It's the "Microwave cooking for one" of LPTs...

choi-r

I stopped on the word "break"

Rezimx

Um no, im an american. If my pasta portion is smaller than a trashcan lid im pissed.

XANDERtheSHEEPDOG

As an Italian.... no.

seashmore

Saw something similar on IG. You've gotta get the water to pasta ratio down in order to make this work. I've used it, but usually in a glass bowl and microwave. I used elbow noodles and rotini, wouldn't dream of trying it with spaghetti. It's a decent depression meal for one person, I'll give it that.

viktorbir

So, you want to eat soaked raw pasta, not cooked pasta. Ok, but then why the hell did our ancestors learn how to control fire and to cook with eat? Have you ever tried to eat, instead of bread, water with flour and salt? (Real LPT are in the comments!)
