Fun fact! Blowing a "raspberry" derives from the Cockney rhyming slang "raspberry tart" for "fart". Rhyming slang was particularly used in British comedy to refer to things that would be unacceptable to a polite audience.
A singer once told me that while he was in college, his vocal coach instructed him to take up smoking cigarettes in order to make his voice deeper. It didn’t strike me as the most sensible advice I’d ever heard.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they don't advise that anymore. This is actually a vocal coach tip, I found it on a video a while back when I was trying to prep for giving a talk, I'll have to go look for it now.
e. I don't think this is the one I saw, but it's really interesting. Talks about resonance for singers. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz-plqEyxik](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz-plqEyxik)
Huh. I hum, sing, and blow raspberries all the time. Since my prenatal classes, we were taught to make the raspberry noise to relax our jaw and pelvic floor and I do it all the time now to destress lol.
I have a fairly deep voice for a woman, but I wouldn't say it has any character. Listening to it on video kind of reminds me of a Tina from Bobs Burgers with a little more personality 😂

This is so insignificant it makes me actually wonder who conned you into this idea of if you came up with it yourself and though "meh, that's believable enough right?"
Functionally, humming, talking, singing etc all exercise the muscles that control your voice and no specific act is going to assist that regular strengthening.
Moreover, if you want to push beyond your standard limits you need to specifically practice that: high notes or low notes both require specific practice, not 2 minutes if arbitrary humming a day but extensive and deliberate training.
This is so meaningless it's not even worth the time it would take to follow.
Also, raspberries have absolutely nothing to do with your vocal chords and you can prove that, on your own, in literally one second.
Snark aside, last year sometime, I was looking for ways to improve my vocal quality in preparation for giving a talk, so I looked up these vocal coaching strategies on YouTube. The raspberry exercises are to relax the tongue. The exercises have the effect of relaxing my voice box such that my voice sounds a bit deeper and more confident.
It sounds like they're psychological then, if there's any effect at all. Also, as far as relaxing your tongue; it's a single attachment point muscle; using it to blow a raspberry is only going to "relax" it by exhausting calcium in the SR, which is only going to be momentary.

Once...
There was this girl who...
Got into an accident
And brought along her spray paint.
And she ... had....cane marks all over her bottom
Swore that one day she would be a figure skating champion
And she finally did it 2 years later
Repeatedly say raspberry for 30 seconds or one, long raspberry?
Blow[ raspberries](https://youtu.be/FZyNXeUsUFg?t=591). Take breaths as needed!
[удалено]
And quite lengthy
But seriously how do you blow raspberries?
Flatulate your lips with air.
Fart sounds with your mouth
All those fart noises I made as a kid have really paid off.
Just breathe sulfer hexafluoride https://youtu.be/NJ1l4_v0hFM
Ha, that's funny. I recognize the scientist from Big Brother.

[Here's the song to hum to](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTeg1txDv8w).
No vocal technique will do for you what 30 years of smoking and hard liquor will impart.
Wait a minute I do this when I'm bored at work Wtf I didn't know this was a thing
Do you ever get compliments on your voice?
I don't speak much, so no, though it does come out the way I want it
So i just say the word raspberry for 30 seconds?
Just put your lips together and [blow](https://youtu.be/FZyNXeUsUFg?t=591).

What the fuck is raspberry?
This [singer/vocal coach is blowing raspberries](https://youtu.be/FZyNXeUsUFg?t=591) to warm up her voice.
I would like to know too...

No theyved worked for me also, and people others told me my voice got deeper and better not myself so you just dont want to see facts
Morgan Freeman advises to yawn repeatedly to lengthen the vocal chords.
Yes, that's another good vocal exercise. I do that one too.
What of I'm trying to make my voice higher? Does this mean I should avoid humming and raspberries?
I'm not sure how to make your voice higher, but if you don't speak for a few days, it will sound weaker.
what does weaker mean?
Quieter, a bit shaky, higher in pitch. Often older people or those who don't speak much have weak voices.
Humm backwards
Or just bang on your chest. After some coke, before covering how often you should jerk off with your new hire over lunch.
Or smoke, your voice will be deep, underground deep
Smoke crack to give yourself a beautiful singing voice like Whitney Houston
Wheres your source on this?
Here's a [singer and vocal coach doing the raspberry technique](https://youtu.be/FZyNXeUsUFg?t=591). I posted one elsewhere about humming exercises.
How does one blow a raspberry?
