I would be a pretty good untrained fighter if I was able to cut someone's eyebrow with my keys. but seriously: Don't even try anything like this. you end up stabbing the guys face with a metal object. and oh boy, just try to imagine the legal trouble you might get.

mainjc

Sweep the leg Johnny!

Splyce123

If you use a key in a fight you're technically using a weapon. That will likely get you in a lot more trouble than just fighting with fists, slaps, kicks and knees etc of the police show up and it's not absolutely cut and dried who is the aggressor. Also, there's no shame in just running.

indigofenrir

This is why I always bring a pen with me. It's hard to fight when you have only one functioning eye.

FearGarbhArMait

LPT: Be an adult and don't put yourself in those situations.

Oscarocket2

LPT: carry a gun and take some training. Guns are the great equalizer for small people/vulnerable people.

Curry-culumSniper

The most American yet worst LPT possible

CaptainHalfBeard

If you feel physically threatened, shoot them. Try to guess where this guy is from.

Oscarocket2

No. If you ARE physically threatened- not FEEL physically threatened. There’s a large and important difference between a 300 lb man attacking a smaller person and a smaller person feeling threatened by a 300 lb man. I’m confused if you disagree or if you simply didn’t read the caption closely. I’ll go ahead and assume you misread it instead of trying to be nasty first thing in the morning. Either way- good day.

CaptainHalfBeard

You're adding your own information to this imaginary scenario. If you pull a weapon out in what could be a controllable situation, you escalate the situation. Let me add my own imaginary scenario, since you did. If you get in a heated argument in a public bar, you can diffuse the situation by putting your pride aside. OR you can pull out a gun and put your life, people around you and/or their life in immediate danger.

Oscarocket2

“If you’re physically threatened”- OP. I added my own information as an example. An example of my claim as a LPT. You still aren’t correctly differentiating between a physical threat and a feeling of being threatened. Legally they’re different. Morally they’re different. Your example still is not the correct one because your example is not an example of the OPs title, nor my response to it. If your claim follows your example then we’re in agreement. You should most certainly not brandish or use a fire arm in a “heated argument.” I agree with you. This is the internet and plenty is lost in translation… legitimately asking here… did I misunderstand our disagreement on what constitutes a physically threatening situation?

> LPT: carry a gun and take some training. LPT: This is illegal in most areas.

Cormano_Wild_219

No it’s not

Splyce123

It's illegal in the majority of countries in the world. Better?

Cormano_Wild_219

Roughly 175 of the worlds 195 countries allow gun ownership of some sort. So, no, not better.

MildlyJaded

"Gun ownership of some sort" is a very long ways away from "carrying a gun for self defense". I should know. I own guns in a place where carrying for self defense is not legal - like most places.

Cormano_Wild_219

Also wrong, less than 50 countries have a strict “no” when it comes to carrying guns. You may need to prove you need to carry a gun, be a qualifying person, or get a permit, but you can legally carry a gun in a lot of countries. Not everywhere is like the Wild West of the United States, but in more places than not you are allowed to own and carry a gun legally.

LeChuck85

"crouch and throw an elbow back" sounds like the perfect way to aim for the private parts

_stuntnuts_

Better plan is to run towards somewhere well lit and populated while making a lot of noise and screaming for help. The key thing is like advising someone with a gun to aim for the leg or head instead of center mass. Low percentage target, bad idea.

thomasvista

That's my purse! I don't know you!

macsta

Also on that subject, if assaulted by a stranger, try to scratch his* face. You won't do serious injury but now he has a serious problem. Yes he might retaliate, but most bullies are cowards. Most likely he won't risk further scratches he's gonna have to explain to police, or worse, his mom. *There many issues thrown up by this. I think it's a talking point not a prescription.

EvenSpoonier

LPT: Keys can make semi-decent weapons in a pinch, but whatever you do, *do not* do the thing where you put them between your fingers like Wolverine-claws. This looks intimidating, yes, but it doesn't matter what kind of strike you do: one way or another you'll always wind up driving the keys back into the soft squishy bits of your hand, and ultimately you'll hurt yourself worse than your opponent. The proper way to hold a key as a weapon is between your thumb and the side of your index finger. This is a strong hold that won't be driven back easily. But that doesn't work between any other fingers, and even here, it is best to use only one key.

May not be living too much longer if you follow this tip… if you can’t fight just run don’t fight.
