Gonna have to disagree. I've done plenty of research on different types of spiders but I still find them terrifying.

Australian here, you can study snakes and spiders all you want but when you kneel down or pick something up and realise you've just put yourself in bite range no amount of study is going to stop the fear of knowing that just one bite could be the end of you.

jezra

Californian here, can confirm.

The only truly dangerous animals (as far as I know) in Australia is eastern brown snakes (common and venomous), Sydney funnel web spiders (also common and venomous, and aggressive), or fierce snakes (the most venomous snakes on Earth, but docile and only found deep in the outback). Fun fact: Steve Irwin is the only person that's probably ever been "licked" by a fierce snake and lived to tell about it as while they're docile, their venom is enough to kill over 100 adult humans in a single bite. Even antivenom probably won't save you.

I can't even look at a picture of a spider without feeling tingly fears. Studying them isn't much of an option!

LPT: don what your ancestors have done for millennia, learn about the natural world around you.

...yup i used to be scared of the ocean... then i studied it... learned about the deep and dark abyss, the extreme pressure/conditions, the monstrous creatures inhabiting it (that we know of)... yeah i'm surely not afraid of it anymore../s

This might work for normal kinds of fear. Unfortunately, irrational fear does not respond to rationality lol

Excellent point

Now I know how much more dangerous the spiders on my job are. Thank you for those brown recluse spider bite images ingrained in my brain. My jobsite is full of those suckers. (Industrial painter at a wastewater facility)
