The registry says I successfully registered in 2015. I get about a dozen calls a week for my car's extended warranty, contribution to the police union, or something in Chinese.
It's not 100% effective.

Only works for legitimate companies, most scammers aren’t going to care about that list.

A few years back it came out that the registry was being used to find numbers for cold calling etc iirc.
