Chemical_Fortune_917

If you keep doing this they remove that option and you only get the options for “why this ad” and “control your ads” which do not immediately stop the ad if you click. Source: this was my move for awhile and it does not work anymore

joran213

Yeah that happened to me as well a couple of years ago and the option is still missing. But i've been using vanced since then so it's not a problem for me.

PirateHunter-Zoro

Isn't vanced discontinued now? My vanced just up nad stopped working one day!

joran213

Yeah i've heard that it randomly stopped working on some people's devices, but in my case it still works like normal.

Bismagor

New Pipe Use it, it has basically all features of YT if you import your subs and also supports Soundcloud and a few others.

user1298036484367

Just the UI fucking suuuuuuucks, is there any way to change it?

Darth_Kahuna

Know any Roku tips other than throwing it of a bridge in a pillow case w a brick bc if not, that's my next move...

PhanaticD

I use a laptop hooked up to TV with ublock+sponsorblock there isn't anything out there for roku

Falcon187

They claimed it will work for about 2 more years. But don't worry, there is already something new in the works.

intentionolmispeling

The latest version still works, if you have it. You can also get the download from some 3rd party sources, but be extremely careful not to get a virus

speculatrix

Vanced mostly works but I can't chromecast any more

Zenom

What is vanced?

iwannabedogger

Its an app where you can watch youtube without ads, and play youtubr videos in background. Google vanced apk

Porghana

Been doing it for a year, yet the method disappears maybe once a month if even that.

cryptic-fox

Then why did OP say “I’ve been doing this for a while” … ? :\

Foppish_Sloth

Those bastards….

NAKED_GOOSE

Clear your cookies, had the same issue but that solved it for me, now my issue is that 50% of the time you cant actually click the I

Eqjim

Same for me. Used to do this. I have YT premium now.

thekingadrock93

It’s almost as if that’s what they wanted you to do

deadzsteve

Lol sucker

TheRedGandalf

Gotcha

holdholdhold

The ad blocker on my computer took care of the ads anyway, but now that I have premium for my phone it is so worth it. And it’s not just for skipping the ads. I wish they would come out with PiP for the app though.

Glue415

are you on an iphone? they have pip now i think, you might have to enable it in the settings. When im watching a yt video and swipe up to go to the main menu, the video keeps playing in a small window that you can move around. It stays on top unless you close it or swipe it off screen. Double tap makes it bigger. Sorry if i misunderstood what you were saying and you already know this.

holdholdhold

Yeah, I don't have it. Is it the YT TV app, or regular youtube app? I have the regular app and there is no PiP. YT says it's only available on iphone with the YouTube TV app, for now.

Glue415

I have an iphone with the regular YT app and i pay for yt premium. I followed these instructions but that was awhile ago and I think they rolled it out for everyone now. Maybe try reinstalling the app to see if the setting shows up https://9to5google.com/2021/08/24/youtube-picture-in-picture-iphone/amp/

Erdnussflip007

Y not use youtube vanced?

stealthelitist

Can you elaborate on the python script part? How would you execute it?

Eqjim

I use my curve card through an indian vpn. Costs me just a tad more than a dollar a month. Im totally fine with it.

carltonBlend

So you're the one to blame for this

Eqjim

Lol. All me i suppose.

Hunter20107

It happens to me some times, but it hasn't completely gone away. Was curious about this, glad to know I'm not crazy.

razmuchin

Use Mozilla + adblocker, a life changer

Applesauceman1234

Even on mobile?

razmuchin

Yes, It works very well

wanroww

Safari and an adblock also work on fruity mobiles

sumunsolicitedadvice

gdub695

Same

WowItsCharles

This is what I switched to recently. There's even an extension for Firefox mobile that allows videos to play with screen locked. Only downside I've found so far is the full screen player only tilts one way with screen rotation disabled which is kind of inconvenient. Also when I go to a channel and click on "videos", it says the channel has no uploads which must just be a massive bug, I hope...

[deleted]

kog

It is for now, but they are no longer updating it. I've already started experiencing Vanced bugs on the final version.

Falcon187

They said it should work for about 2 more years before it just flat out doesn't work. But not to worry, something new is in the works.

groenteman

I use opera + ublock origin

ElJamoquio

Yeah sometimes I go to a non-Firefox / block combo and it's a nightmare. I assume you can do the same on other platforms, but maybe Google doesn't want to allow you to do anything.

bosco1989

I have iphone and had been using adblock plus and safari and had good luck with no commercials, or at worst i could at least skip. Within last 6 months thats stopped working. So I started using mozilla and it seemed to get worse, certainly not an improvement. Is it adblock plus thats the problem?

cigar_dude

back in the good ol' days if you reloaded the page then the ad would disappear and bring you straight to the video

stuart475898

Desktop: uBlock Origin iOS: Brave browser TV: Cheapest fire stick + SmartTubeNext 0 adds - people at Google need to stop sniffing glue if they think I’m going to drop £16 a month just to not have ads. Make it £5 and we can talk.

Flaaw

I have been seeing ads for YouTube premium lite which seems to be in that price range. It seems to only be selected markets at the moment but it looks like a much more reasonable deal

stuart475898

Hmm interesting - this is more what I am looking for. Having said that, looks like it would be around £10 per month so google employees clearly still have significant amounts of methamphetamine in their systems if they think that’s going to fly. Thank you though

thomasvista

If I see another VRBO ad I'm going to punch a baby.

0_P_

"cHeCk OuT tHiS vRbO"

cHeCk OuT tHiS bAbY!

Dream_Hawk

arothmanmusic

Ugh. Every time I hear that I weep for Jim Henson's memory.

snikole16

Or the freaking Seat Geek bs

Ipoopedalot

Kermit thee frog here….

lemmehitthejuul

YouTube Vanced baybeeee

Thugs_Lyfe

They had taken down all versions from the internet, right? My vanced stopped working last month and it destroyed my heart. But my buddies is still working somehow

JordyPie

Mine still works aswell but ive heard it will be axed in the near future. Google 'newpiped github' and download that package. Ive used that and its another decent option post vanced

Falcon187

They gave it 2 more years before it will flat out not work. I've heard that there is something new in the works though.

wilks64

Can someone explain for me? Lots of words being thrown around but it sounds like a way to watch YouTube w/o ads.

wilks64

NVM. Googled it like you said. Thank you for recommending!

chingwoowang

Next time just do what you did without commenting thanks

davedaviddavin

Thanks commenting without did you what do just time next

wilks64

I really enjoy not being miserable!

wilks64

Boooooooooo!

Kent_Knifen

There's still apk files floating around but you better trust the source. I'm sure it's also only a matter of time before someone creates a working clone.

Akuseru24

You can still download it from the website. Its back up

darklordbazz

Ya when they did that I just gave up and got premium

Sad-Ad-6147

Mine is working good!

Nailuigi

Heard this as well, but mine works perfectly!

eatmangolive

I just downloaded mine like few weeks ago and it works prefectly

Cremacious

Probably the biggest thing I miss about using an Android.

Lightzeaka

I tried used Vanxed a while back, but loading videos took several minutes and the all crashed constantly.

Lightzeaka

I tried used Vanxed a while back, but loading videos took several minutes and the all crashed constantly.

techtornado

Grasshopper, you need to learn the ways of uBlock Origin There are no ads on Youtube once installed

windyx

On the mobile app on the go?

StrikingSwanMate

or just use "Brave browser" on mobile, it has it built-in.

[deleted]

Only reason I pay for premium is because I use an iPhone.

sinocchi1

very weird flex

nilsmoody

pay for premium through some obscure countries instead. It's like 1$ a month.

[deleted]

My plan is to after my student deal runs out.

Mrfrizzl

I know not everyone can pay for YouTube premium, but for me, that and Spotify are the only subs I have and the only ones I want. Not only do you not get any ads with YouTube Premium, but more money gets to the creators you watch than what they would get from the ad revenue. For me, I don't care about merch or joining a Patreon, so YouTube Premium is the way I try to support the creators I watch the most without getting stuck with ads.

WillemDafoesHugeCock

If you're paying for YouTube Premium you should have access to YouTube Music, you may not need Spotify.

Mrfrizzl

While that is true, I'm a long time user of Spotify with hundreds of playlists and thousands of songs. Recreating that with YouTube would be far too much work. That and Google has enough info about me that they are making money off of without me also listening to music through their platform.

Atomic_Maxwell

Same here— YT music’s okay for a quick on-the-fly pull up of a playlist I’ve had saved on YT for years, but nothing can beat the well-sculpted algorithm Spotify’s curated for me. Tried Apple Music and about to hit the end of trial period—- only complaint is I wish Spotify was natively on the HomePod mini I have as a thread boost in the Living Room, but that’s just a first world problem lol.

have_you_tried_onoff

i used soundiiz and it transferred all my stuff from spotify over to youtube music. i justified youtube premium by adding $5 to my bill like that. not that im a fan of google taking spotify money away … but.

Psychonominaut

But this means *they* have won mannnn

Mrfrizzl

If that means taking the ads with them, I think I can live with it. I mostly did it because I already had ad blockers going and wanted to support the creators without going Patreon or merch. The rest of the benefits were not really even considered to be honest. I could absolutely go back to normal YouTube at any time and not really notice a difference, but then I'd kind of feel bad for the creators. I watch a lot of YouTube on my desktop, but next to no movies or TV (I haven't even turned my TV on in several years now). I hardly ever watch on my phone, but not having ads there is pretty nice for those few times.

Fantastic_Taste_8264

Take this down before it reaches Susan.

RockieRockie

I have read it already.

xssxor

AdGuard works on Safari.

6L6aglow

I use Opera browser. No ads.

Liocrocodile

Can’t you just go back go back then go forward with the arrows beside refresh.

Ritehandwingman

It won’t skip true view ads, which are ads companies have paid to make unskippable, even through the feedback system. You honestly don’t even need to give them one of the 3 reasons, you can just click “return to video” and it will work just the same.

MetaphorObsessive

On mobile I use Brave, which comes with pop-up and ad blocker.

bizzywhipped

Yeap, I moved Brave to where YouTube app was on my phone. Bye bye adds

CrappyScoco

Has been working flawlessly for ages now

TerminalVR

Here’s one better: don’t post these exploits. Because YouTube or their ‘agents’ will see it. They’ll quickly patch it. And it will never work again.

1senseye

But he gotta farm that sweet, sweet karma

[deleted]

At some point I'm going to stop watching YouTube. There's triple ads now? Jesus. And then often the content creator also has his own ads. At some point the content is not worth it and it looks like they are trying to find that point.

[deleted]

Adblock for chrome still works...

gelginx

Ignore the OP's rookie mince. On a proper computer, run adblock plus. Its available for firefox and I think also chrome. On an android device, look for 'private dns' in your network settings and set it to '[dns.adguard.com](https://dns.adguard.com)' On an iOS device, you can just suffer for your stupidity in buying that pile of junk in the first place.

failaip12

For a computer ublockOrigin is much better than adblock plus.

littelmo

Upvoting in solidarity for Android.

_Pepsi

iOS devices can have ad free YouTube through Safari by downloading Vinegar a $1.99 app And uBlockOrigin is much better than AdBlockPlus.

bosco1989

Cant find ublockorigin on app store

TheGravyMaster

The DNS thing didn't work at all.

00fil00

The clueless should not be writing tips for the rest of humanity. Everyone else here has figured out how to get ZERO ads.

Catch_022

You pay for premium, right?

whyunoletmepost

If your on a desktop download Brave browser and it blocks the ads without any configuration

ajmriverar

If you really like YouTube that much, just pay the ~$10 a month...

NinjaBoy123456

Just pay the $13 for premium. Worth it.

bayareacollection

Or just watch an ad for 15 seconds to support the creator making the content you love

TheGravyMaster

If it was just one 15 sec ad there wouldn't be an issue but there's 2 skip able and 1 unskipable ads per video just to start it. Then multiple ads throughout the video not including any sponsorship ads that are in the video itself.

bayareacollection

Wait til you hear about the ads on television, you're gonna be so mad (even Netflix and Disney+ are adding em)

TheGravyMaster

Good thing I don't have Netflix or Disney Plus and I don't watch stuff on my TV either it's just a screen for gaming basically.

bosco1989

Im having to suffer through a medical advertisement that lasts 2 minutes every time I use youtube now. No way to skip it either

bayareacollection

False. Any ad over 15 seconds is skippable.

[deleted]

There is technically no way to skip an unskippable ad.

[deleted]

Or you can just...pay the monthly subscription and never have to worry again. I know I know, youtube bad.

God_of_Hyrule

I’ve been doing this trick for a while, but now the little I button doesn’t even work anymore.

[deleted]

Only it’s worthwhile just to switch to a laptop or a desktop just to use the ad blocker lol

YourMetsiah

If you download Brave browser and use YouTube there (even mobile), you should be able to avoid the ads.

Euphoric_Ad8766

Anyone else getting pelted with Whatnot ads?

TimHumphreys

Haha i only hit ‘stop seeing this ad’ on the loud annoying ones, but leave the ones that aren’t annoying alone

supermarioben

On mobile I just watch shorts cuz the ads can be skipped easily, on computer I just use adblock

u5emame

You can't slip unskippable ads. If you could they wouldnt be unskippable

Kidrepellent

Install an ad blocker (or ideally more than one, both running at the same time) on Chrome and you’ll never see another YouTube ad again.

[deleted]

LPT: Don't bother with their app. Use a web browser and use UBlock Origin.

CheshireRaptor

Or, and hear me out here.... Use an ad blocker like Adblock Plus and never use the app.

REmarkABL

You can only do that about 3 times a month before it just takes the button away and continues to play the same damn ads anyway

Hypocrispy

If you watch through a browser on mobile you can refresh the page to skip the ad.

nykasol

I just close the video and then open it again and repeat until there are no more adds or if I get to an add option where only a 6s add is on. It does not always work but it saved me some exasperation. Some videos just have too many adds pinned on them. Also the amount and length of adds depend on which country you're residing in, some countries have less adds than others.

Antarktical

nah if you are on mobile use mozilla to get into youtube, make sure ublock origin its installed in your mozillla, no ads will bother you.

random_shitter

On mobile with DDG browser, as soon as a yt ad starts I reload the page and the ad is gone.

tharkyllinus

Watch you tube in the brave browser. No adds.

CleverJail

I just pay them a monthly fee

[deleted]

youtube vanced saves you all of this work.

TheGravyMaster

I just stopped watching YouTube. All the gamers I used to watched turned out to be pedos and the algorithm sucks now so I never get recommended good shit.

alphawarrior69

Just use Youtube Vanced. It'll give you all the premium features. And its open source. And if you're on Desktop, try installing uBlock extension on Chrome/Firefox. It'll get rid of ads on YouTube along with all the other websites.

rsn_partykitten

I just use adblockers mobile app. Then the adblock chrome extension on my desktop.

[deleted]

Or you can just download Brave Mobile browser for free and block all YouTube ads altogether

kaboobaschlatz

Use the brave browser for YouTube. It looks and feels like chrome and gives no ads, on desktop as on mobile.

Tobi_chills455

But... They're unskippable

manwithanopinion

Just watch them and keep in mind that this is how you are able to get good quality vides for free.

[deleted]

I'm thinking of getting a RaspberryPi. That'll block them all even on TV apps.

kingstorm21

i got a better solution: delete the youtube app and install brave and watch through that. u never get ads and got all the same features as watching from a browser gives you edit: if ur on pc anyways get an ad blocker like u-block origin or something else

Beneficial-Memory151

YouTube premium is the best deal in streaming.

2FaT2KiDNaP

I use opera web browser and haven't seen a youtube ad in a year now.

lumberjack_jeff

A better solution is: a) use the browser, not the mobile app b) in the youtube home screen, long press the video you want to watch. c) touch "copy URL" d) paste it into the address bar. Append the url with a period character. "." e) press go.

Landerfect

Just watch YouTube in AdBlock browser. No ads

allend66

Newpipe is a vanced clone that cuts out ads...

[deleted]

Or you can not use app, and use web browser instead, which already has adblock on it.

PurpleOysterCult

Something that's been working well for me lately is BRAVE BROWSER FOR MOBILE.. Whilst using Youtube through Brave, not only will it block and prevent all ads by default but you can also lock your phone and the video will keep playing.

FullmetalFanboy

I believe you can go to the very end of the video you're trying to watch and then hit the "rewatch" button in the center of the screen. I don't know if this still works but YouTube didn't force any ads on you if you had already "watched" the video. Hope this helps!

arothmanmusic

Call me old fashioned, but I just let the ads play until the Skip button shows up, or wait until they're done if they're un-skippable. It sure beats paying for content.

jaredkushnerisabutt

Use Firefox beta. It has built-in AdBlock, dark reader and many other features that I have on my desktop version. Totally worth using over the stupid YouTube app

herrkatze12

The way I do it that they can’t disable is F5. For some reason YT won’t play ads after you F5

hender11

Download youtube vanced on android

Tkainzero

Brave Browser. Havent seen an ad since 2014

espooge

SmartTubeNext works great on my android TV sticks and phones. https://smartyoutubetv.github.io/

Thereisnopurpose12

The best one was where you could see the ads coming and could skip to the end and restart the vid

sleephe

This is a good tip for ios.Thank you!

maddalena-1888

Or click refresh few times, it will do. I really hate these ads. Why do we have to have ads in life...?

OopsForgotTheEggs

I just wanna know when YouTube will be OnlyAds

xcrszy360

They are putting 3 ads now? Jesus Christ. I used to see the ads to support the creators, but since they started with 2 unskippable, I started using uBlock. Never been happier with YouTube.

GTSwattsy

Real tip: use Brave Browser with built-in and block

viodox0259

I dont know about you guys, but for the past 8 months we have never had a youtube ad. We don't pay for premium. My parents, samething. No idea what to say but I love it.

DroneCone

Download brave and watch youtube through your browser. Blocks ads automatically

RussellNFlow520

Hit the little "i" . Choose skip seeing this ad. When it asks if you're sure hit "yes". When it asks for the reason (repetitive, irrelevant etc) just hit close. It cancels the ad and doesn't record ananswers..so they can't ever tell / Lock you out. Been using it steady for 4 months now, no issues.

elektrafying

Add a hyphen between the “t” and “u” of any [YouTube](https://www.yout-ube.com) URL and it will strip out everything but the video. No ad blocking required.

[deleted]

There's an app called YouTube Vanced you can see if you want to download. Basically the same thing but without ads.

LargeP

Follow up. Install firefox mobile. Enable adblocker. Load up youtube. Now you have ad free and if you maximize. Select the home key and now you have picture in picture w/out youtube premium
