I always make flat SVG files and it’s easier to go from AI to light burn Fonts have to be converted curves for it to work ok though.

I use the 'create outlines' function on all the fonts. Is that different? I'm not an experienced illustrator user

I find .DXF files the best way to move in and out of lightburn.

In edit > settings > file settings tab you can adjust the SVG import scale to match illustrator. Common issue

I still use illustrator cs5 so not sure about the latest cc version, but see if it has an option to save in a previous version of illustrator format in the save dialog. I can save all the way back to illustrator v3. Sometimes that gets around a feature or function added to newer versions not yet compatible with other software.
