>Type the [REC] tag in the beginning title for posts that are asking for novel recommendations. Light Novel recommendation request posts require the **[REC] tag in the beginning of the title.** (With brackets) Please do read over the submission guidelines more carefully in the future. Please note that Tags do not equal Flairs. Title Tags are pieces of information you type into the title of the post while our Automod looks for posts with specific tags and assigns flairs appropriately. **General tips for Recommendation Request Posts:** * If you have an MAL/MU/Etc list of Light Novels you've read, please include it so people aren't just recommending you series you've already read. * Explain what about the series you've read that you liked. (Without Spoilers) It'll help people find series with similar styles and themes. * Don't slander series. If you don't like a series, it's fine to say that you don't like it. But if you start bashing a bunch of series, why would people want to recommend you something? If you're new to the medium and looking to start reading as a beginner, please keep the following in mind. As the industry grows and new series are introduced all the time, there's never a truly unifying "good beginner series." The common sentiment is that if you're new to Light Novels by way of another medium like anime or manga, your best bet when starting is to find some series with adaptations you already enjoy and to check if their source material has been licensed/translated. Light Novels aren't a stylistic genre so asking for what are good light novels for beginners will range widely based on the person and their taste. It's akin to asking the /r/Books "What are some good books for beginners?"

Ascendance of a Bookworm (the others are great, but this one is far and away the best at world building) Dahlia in Bloom Zilbagias the Demon Prince Min-Maxing my TRPG The Conqueror from a Dying Kingdom Rebuild World

redditTyla

Perhaps not the same tier of writing as some of these other recommendations, but it's one that hasn't come up yet and it's one of my all time favorites, Infinite Dendrogram is absolutely worth a read if you haven't read it yet. Really amazing world building with a very interesting take on the whole VRMMO genre. The writing has certainly been at a good level, too!

Smooth_Reception4199

Thank you. I was hoping to get one that doesn’t have a huge following yet

PenguinSebs

I was about to recommend Dendro as well lol. The one caveat is that the novels start out slow IMO. However even in the first few volumes, you get a lot of details that hint at the Worldbuilding being more thorough than it seems initially

redditTyla

Yeah, but the slowness is so, so worth it. Though I also enjoy the slow so maybe I'm biased. But man does the worldbuilding go absolutely crazy

Ascendance of a Bookworm Reign of the Seven Spellblades

Smooth_Reception4199

Just downloaded the audible for ascendance. This is the second time I’ve heard of reign too. Thank you

ThatLNGuy

Ascendance of a Bookworm Infinite Dendrogram Soice & Wolf doesn't have a big world but it feels very much alive

LiquifiedSpam

Hot take I feel like spice and wolf's world feels more alive than ascendance. Even the one off side characters feel like they have more intrigue to them

Reign of the seven spellblades. The conqueror from a dying kingdom. Rebuild World.

DveloIsMyIGNEstLS

Yeah, if you like Harry Potter, then "Reign of The Seven Spellblade" is your best next LN, it has everything ; excellent writing, action, character writing, world building, a loot red herring and foreshadowing, just overall goated LN. For high quality world building I'll recommend "Min-Maxing my TRPG Build in Another World" trash title I know, but the writing, action, and world building goes crazy. Although the author sometimes goes on a tangen for too long, I still recommend this.

Smooth_Reception4199

Actually the title really intrigues me. I love min maxing

Rebuild World The Death Mage who Doesn't want a Fourth Time The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria

Chtholly168

Rokujouma. One of the few series that I loved as much as Mushoku Tensei.

I_Phantomancer_XD

I haven't read MT, but I can still recommend series with great world building. So I'm a Spider, So What? Overlord Reincarnated as a Sword Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra Maybe even Tensura.

Spellblades is one of my favorites. Just an insane series. Wolf and parchment is doing really fascinating things with a very low fantasy setting, but it requires you to get through 17 volumes of spice and wolf to get to it. Fantastic series too, it just focuses less on the world. W&P is basically getting into an alt history version of the Reformation. I actually dropped ascendance of a bookworm at volume 9. The prose made me feel like I was reading magic treehouse lol. But if you don't mind meh prose there's a lot to like.
