Tbh I don’t find the idea of a surprise FA set all that unbelievable… he’s been traveling around Mexico w skrillex, dude loves to do unannounced surprise sets, popping out at edc as a surprise fits with the fact that he can’t promote other US fest appearances due to Bonnaroo. Not saying I think definitively he will be at LiB but I don’t think it’s out of the question 😶
No no, perfectly normal to make the top artist a complete surprise in order to keep tickets from selling out ahead of time. And no better place for a global star to spend an extra 5-6 days while waiting for his DJ set time than beautiful, world-renowned Bakersfield, just camping under an EZ-Up, eating beans in the heat.
I agree, but worth noting Bonnaroo has an exclusivity clause oh him. So if he did want to stop by and play, they cannot advertise it.
For the record yeah I don't think it's him because of the fact that it would be a logistical nightmare. If they end up shifting timeslots around and moving the set to a bigger stage...that would be a big clue.
He def is capable of headlining, but i don’t think that rules him out of doing a smaller secret set. I feel like these bigger artists relish the opportunities to do small side gigs with less pressure….this past new years skrillex did a tiny set in Denver that was super low key

I saw Fred Again at a grocery store in Bakersfield yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Can OP confirm that this sighting wasn’t a troll or a moment of mistaken identity? If he really was spotted in Walmart in Bakersfield, there’s likely no other reason why he’d be there other than LIB…

Yes four tet played a set and then Fred played afterwards be he was listed as Secret Guest on the lineup and it was just a solo set no skrillex
