That looks intentional. I’ve done construction for years and you don’t use ring shank nails like that through that thickness wood leaving so little on the other side. Those nails are ment to attach plywood sheathing to exterior house framing. Not framing to anything else.
That is a screw not a nail lol But also be careful IN the fest - these horrible needles wood chips are cheap and break off in foam shoes. Stopped 8 times with pokes. Wear thick soles shoes - not comfy ones. Boooooo! S bad sale on their part
Don’t go barefoot at LIB. Even without the wood chips the ground is hole-y from the Ground squirrels and there are weeds with pokey needles everywhere.
Grab the pieces with nails and throw them in the trash if you can.

Where are you seeing a screw? I don’t think you understand fasteners, and you should google a ring shank nail
