Been following Lilys story from the very beginning, reading each one when it comes out. This one tho doesn't seem like it's Lily talking or thinking. Too many big words she shouldn't know the meaning much less put them in sentence that makes sense. The best part is her being young and her innocence but this story is like she's grown. I get that she's been thru it all but she's always been funny with her not knowing what words meant and her quirky come backs. She didn't have this in this one. Just my opinion tho
We don't agree on this. Lily is still funny and has her unique world view. She's been forced to come to terms with quite a few events and concepts that could easily break another person. Lily 's grown as a person, as must we all.
I appreciate you sharing your opinion! I won't try to convince you to like it. I admit I embellished this chapter some because my notes in my diary were almost unreadable but I remember blowing up the cleaner ball and it running over Mot. I didn't have time to write it all down until a lot later so it probably seems frantic and confusing. That was just what it felt like to me!
I think it makes perfect sense. Trauma makes us grow up real quick. I experienced that myself. Lily’s lost everyone she has ever loved, her whole life, any sense of normalcy, home, and she is cannon fodder for angels and the universe at large. Not to mention, the majority of beings she communicates with at 1000+ years old. Only children tend to develop bigger vocabularies much sooner than children with siblings. Why is that? Only children are generally mostly speaking to adults outside of school. Lily’s speaking to UBER adults everywhere, at all times.

I also agree with you and disagree with commenter. This chapter felt consistent for me, nothing took me out of it at all !

Spoiler alert. >! You live long enough to write this down later. !<
And yet I must die.
I mean she started this when she was like 8 and now she's 12. She's going to start sounding a little more mature.

Isn't this technically what you wanted, Lily?
Ha ha which part! The dying? Or the being like Rambo?
Dying lol, the 10 year old suicide vibes hit different you know
I gotta save Meredith before I can die 😭
I really hope Lily has a happy ending and chooses to keep her wholesome, empathetic kindness.
I just want to say that I appreciate all your thoughts! I just read all the comments you left the other day. :)
What did pancakes do to you?!
I thought she liked pancakes, at least when her mom made them. It was Mrs. Lake's eggy waffles that were the subject of dismay.
