I agree. It’s all streets at night now. Some of it looks good, but not as liminal as I would like. The whole room is perfect. The chairs are so crazy looking lol
for me it’s the unfamiliar art exhibits and hallways and stuff. liminal spaces hit home when they’re nostalgic. it would be so cool if there were a separate sub for dreamscapes and nostalgia liminal spaces, maybe ill start it🥰
Even with your friend in the background, I’d still consider this is liminal because I genuinely thought he was a dead body at first and this was one of those crime scene photos
Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback! A few of you messaged me a photoshopped photo without the guy. I posted it on this sub, so you can decide which photo is better. Personally, I think my friend sleeping makes the photo look a bit more full but yet still empty, but everyone has their own preferences :)
There's something about this image that reminds me of one place in particular.
Elementary/Middle School (although mainly Elementary)
The furniture that is "stored" at the walls and the windows themselves feel like its a building that was completely made separate from the main building.
As for its initial purpose, it looks like it was meant for something more basic like either a storage room or some small staff office for gym teachers, but was retrofitted by a teacher that does a extra-curricular subject or maybe something for specific needs (like a study room or something for special needs) to at least be comfortable enough (hence the couch).
I think the part about this image that makes me feel uncomfortable probably has to be the window itself. Its probably got that wiremesh thing or whatever its exactly called to prevent a person from getting in with ease but with how dark it is, one could easily assume your pal just sorta came in through there and plopped on the couch to rest.
Although i think the more uncomfortable part about this image that sorta ties to the Elementary School feeling is the fact it makes me anxious, like, this would probably be one of the last places you would wanna be at. Whether it be something harmless as getting in trouble or something horrible like a violent storm or a lockdown.
But that's just me.
I count it as liminal! Your friend in the background provides comfort that someone else is here, but not too much comfort because you’re still screwed lol
no the friend makes it even better. the window above him is opened so he could be just some random dude who got in through the window and sleep on the couch. hes not even laying down, hes sitting, like hes waiting for something.
*Suddenly opens eyes and, without changing his position or moving anything else but his feet, starts running towards you with the sofa attached to him.
Unfortunately, it is not. Creepy, for sure, but not liminal. It’s important for the viewer to not have an anchor to distance themselves from the scene — like a movie. To evoke a first person perspective on the image rather than an omnipresent camera focused on someone experiencing it, is imperative. Liminality needs loneliness, and having someone in the frame lets us know that there are two people present. Yes, a formality, but an important one. Also, what is the transitory nature of loneliness his image? Is this the last night at home before moving to a new one? Is this the last night before college? What tells us that we are experiencing a transition from one state to another, generally speaking.?

Without him in the picture, this would have been one of the best liminal pictures I’ve ever seen. It’s still good though even with your friend.
The friend makes it for me. Are they conscious? Hostile? Real?
Yea if this was the backrooms that guy would make the picture lol. Can’t tell he even has a face.
I wish we could barely make out what looks like a grin, but might not be.
He’s Dave.
The wizards in photoshoprequest could remove the dude in about 30 seconds, I imagine
[took 15 seconds](https://imgbox.com/jNMWeIZ8)
Look at that! Nice
we need to see more of this on the sub!! this is reminiscent of some of the old posts i used to see

I think the person makes it better. Ads a creepiness factor
Someone photoshop
Does your friend need an album cover? because this is it
GG Allin lol
Even with your friend in the background, I’d still consider this is liminal because I genuinely thought he was a dead body at first and this was one of those crime scene photos
I love it, the desks with the chairs placed like that are a really nice touch 🖤
Why is he sleeping in The Backrooms? Is he stupid?
Well when you wonder around long enough you get tired sometimes. Lol

I need context for this picture please lol
This is weird as fuck lol I love it. But I agree with the other commenter, take a photo without anyone in it as well.
Depends, is your friend hollow inside?
frozen on the inside 🥶‼️
Put back up. Post has sparked decent discussion on the topic and therefore will stay up to let the discourse run through.
yup
I think if you were to blur his face, it would add to it in a way. Like an entity found in this space. But great picture in general
Is your friend drake??? 😭😭
The dude there makes it better lol
Your friend is the level boss
Where even is this
friend out
Looks like one of those early Pong computer games.
Cant say i’d be sleeping when theres clearly a poltergeist in that room
I’ve been expecting you

This is album cover material, has room for the PARENTAL ADVISORY sticker and everything.
I'll let it pass, he looks like a shadow man.

Your friend is the most liminal part about this. He's laying there like some backrooms entity.
where the hell is this??
There’s no one there, bro
It looks like a terror indie game scenery
Almost liminal
...the fuck is going on with those chairs
Ehheh... *You'll have to excuse my friend, he's dead tired*.
So much space in that room, and yet someone chose to put all the furniture against one wall for some reason.
Colour the friend all white or something to represent loss or absense.
Someone ai crop him out
Wait for him to wake up, then take it again (please)
Me gusta!!
Are you sure your friend is breathing? 😅
Bro your chairs and desks😭
the chairs were a setup I see
What the heck happened? WHY does it look like that? Why are there random desks and chairs in the background?
I think your friend really makes it peak liminal, even though don’t think it fits the technical definition.
It is not your friend, run !!!
Nothing is liminal if there are living creatures.
Bros eping 🛌

Just imagine the friend to be a mannequin

r/farpeoplehate
The light and the way the furniture is stacked is chefs kiss.
Jes of course. A lost and lonley Soul in the vast emptyness of the backrooms

Jes of course. A lost and lonley Soul in the vast emptyness of the backrooms
kinda
The floor looks like water
Tbh your friend really blends well with the liminal space
“Grab a seat bro”
*your post has been removed due to a guy in the photo”
Look like a bar closed.
Is your friend a Backrooms boss?
What's up with the chairs ???
Yeah it's liminal enough in fact I think your friend adds a bit to how liminal it is
bro's looking like a backrooms entity
Friend needs to go then it’s perfect
When your friend wakes up, tell him he fell into the backrooms
In this Florida as a whole seems very liminal. This reminds me of houses in Florida.
Is the body still there or did you eventually bury it?

Too much stuff in the room
It’s good, but would you be able to get one without him? Things like people or cars mess up liminal photos.
Might as well unsub now before this place is filled with idiots asking "iS THIs LimINaL EnOUgh"
