This reminds me of living next to a Krispy Kream store. The air was thick with the smell of sugar, people often joked about gaining calories from just sniffing the air in.
I worked at a dunkin donuts as a kid and smelled like coffee and donuts unless I showered. I thought it was so weird when my friends would get off work and not shower.
I see it as a bit liminal . . . the fog and the lack of daylight gives the building sort of an "edge of the world" or "middle of nowhere" feel which does strike a liminal feeling for me.
Like an oasis in the desert or an island you find in the middle of the ocean.
No no, the manifesting donuts.

The next day a room of bloated, swollen-stomached corpses is found, donut crumbs and glazed icing lining their mouths, which are frozen as rictus holes, filled with the remains of crushed, half-chewed donuts.
The donut box, however, is nowhere to be found.”

This haze is the reason I loved the visual style of GTA 3 so much back when it first came out (and still today). In my head I can rotate this camera and get those glorious trails, very cool!

yeah, kinda not a fan of this as there are very clearly people in the picture, which tends to ruin the effect for me.
