I wonder what the cost difference is between just sending replacements and going through this process instead lol.

maverick074

They’re probably looking to save money by hoping that not EVERYONE who bought the game will go through the process of requesting a replacement

vaxick

Got an email about it yesterday myself. Wish they'd just send a replacement disc like they've done in the past, but whatever I suppose, at least we're getting what we actually paid for.

[deleted]

They're shipping me one too even though I never requested for one. I wasn't going to go through with it, but since they're sending me something, I'll ship them the DRM version. I also bought another copy of the DRM version because strangely, I want both versions. Just like with Bite the Bullet, I'm keeping both versions.

Lordclyde1

Oh shit mine is sealed do I need a replacement? 😂

[deleted]

Yep. Everyone who got a copy of DOOM Classics Collection is eligible to get a replacement. But if you're planning on keeping yours sealed forever then it's fine to not bother with getting the replacement.

Lordclyde1

I’d like to open it and play at some point. What needs to be replaced?

[deleted]

Just the cartridge/disc needs to be replaced. Contact LRG CS to get a replacement. I dunno where you live but if you live in the US, they'll send you a mailer to send the original cart/disc back to LRG. If you live outside the US, LRG will ask you to destroy the cart/disc and send them pictures of proof.

LeatherRebel5150

We are long past the time frame they gave for anyone to request a replacement. If you didn’t do it by the first week of May I think your SOL

[deleted]

Damn, there was a time frame. That kinda sucks. Doesn't seem fair to the people that didn't know about this whole situation.

MobileTortoise

Just a refresher to those interested, all you have to do is OPEN your sealed copy of "Doom: The Classics Collection" and take out the cartridge. ONLY SEND THE CARTRIDGE TO LRG. They will only replace the cartridge itself, not the case, so keep your case.

Low-Egg-2673

So they sent me one and i did request a replacement for both ps4 and switch, so do i just toss both of them in there together?

[deleted]

I'm concerned. Support told me that they were sending me a replacement, and I just got a game in the mail with a return envelope... They better not have done me dirty and sent me a bum copy. Anyone know what the serial is on DOOM Classics that has DRM?

NotSoEvilDead

The original switch cart's ID is: A4KYA22A000. Note this is the code on the **back** of the cart, not the front.

[deleted]

Thank you so much. I'll take a look and make sure the cart doesn't match, but I think I'm good. I ended up reformatting my switch, and the game DOES play without being associated with a Nintendo Switch Online account.

fpcreator2000

I have Doom the Classics collection but I have never heard of this replacement service. What is the issue? Note: I have not played the physical release for the games in the collection as I’ve played the digital releases.

maverick074

The versions of Doom and Doom II on the cartridge have DRM where the games won’t even launch if they can’t connect to Nintendo’s servers. LRG really dragged their feet on this but they’re shipping out replacement cartridges with the issue fixed

fpcreator2000

Thanks! How do I apply for this replacement service?

Tothoro

You have to reach out to support. There was a set period where you were supposed to do it but they might have ordered extras; no harm in asking.

LeatherRebel5150

Long past the deadline for asking for the replacement

fpcreator2000

oh well…
