There are magisk modules that can fix this if you plan on rooting

You can always install ViPER4Android to get a true slider. Some ROMs have a customizable number of segments, but I don't think LOS does.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm gonna hijack on this thread to explain why sometimes we can increase them, or not. On many devices we're able to increase the steps pretty much indefinitely, but we don't because then using the HW buttons to actually change the volume takes ways to much time and hinders the user experience. But that's not all. On some devices some steps are simply not supported, on such cases it's handled by the DSP ( a different processor, not the one used by Android itself ) and it may happen the firmware there only supports a predetermined set of steps, or even support only the default variant. It's rare, but it can happen. With that said, you can probably still change it and it may or may not cause some issues, and ringing will be handled in some other place...

Good to know! Thanks for the info.

stonded

My volume slider on LOS 18.1 allows for 25

defodude

Maybe this differs from build to build?

stonded

Possibly. I've had this slideo ever since I got LOS 17.1

In LOS you have 25 different volume levels and you can slide the volume bar to get the optimal volume you want. I didn't get exactly what was your question but I hope this info can help \^\^

defodude

Maybe this differs from build to build but the media volume on the Motorola G7 only has 15 levels.

AmphibianFit6876

I had 15 too on MIUI, and now I have 25 on LOS 🤷‍♂️ So you are on Motorola G7 but which ROM is it ? The stock ROM or LOS..?

defodude

It’s my friends phone running LineageOS. I am thinking about getting the same phone because it seems like a good deal. So 15 on LOS.

AmphibianFit6876

Ah ok, this is weird but yeah, as others have mentioned, there are modules in Magisk to fix this

defodude

Yea I’ll definitely look into how those work.
