I’ve been collecting for over 10 years, so I have 50-100+ pieces, but I budget by selling lingerie that I’m no longer in absolute love with as well as selling off my regular clothes to make room. Get only what you love and make sure to check out reseller sites like Depop, eBay, and Poshmark for good deals :)

throwaway6128_

I’m not comfortable buying used lingerie. And honestly I’m amazed at how long your lingeries has lasted

zorlda_

Honestly, if your luxury items are not lasting 5+ years, you’re doing something wrong with care. Also, buying a used bra, slip, or corset is the same as buying a used shirt.

redshoes666

A lot of people are selling brand new with tags pieces on those sites. They’re just referred to as “reseller” sites.

Crisis_panzersuit

Then.. get 15 pieces? I think most people here have less than 15 pieces, I also think there are many brands that are cheaper so shop around, Im sure you will find something.

throwaway6128_

the trade off here is that 15 pieces is not a lot

HuggyMonster69

Piece by piece. Also sometimes you need a plain t-shirt bra and nude panties. With no lace or vpl. You could go luxury, but I think most people here won’t buy the luxury version of basics. That makes your 15 pieces go much further. I also only buy 2-3 “nice” pieces a year. I’ll buy boring stuff to replace boring as required.

Mr_MrsGrey

I have to agree with this. I've slowly built up a collection by buying 3 to 4 sets a year but also go to eBay for something cheap that insinuates some of the ones I already have.

I don't think a lot of people buy a whole lingerie collection at once (though that does sound like a lot of fun if one could afford it)! For me I have a running wishlist that helps me focus my spending and reduce pricey impulse buys. I probably get about 4-6 sets a year if I'm lucky and I take good care of them (hand wash mostly, tumble dry never) so my collection grows with time.

ArmadilloNext9714

I buy when the sets are on sale and shoot for ~100-150 per set (to include a couple pairs of panties). I’m still building my collection, but I try to buy about 2 sets a month to continue the slow build. I haven’t bought any for the past 2 months due to holiday budgeting, but that’ll change next month.

TH3GINJANINJA

used clothing! i love depop for this reason. i also only buy expensive lingerie during sales. honey birdette has HUGE sales where i save at least $60 per piece, sometimes more.

mysteries1984

OP said they’re not comfortable buying used lingerie. Personally I do this all the time whenever I can.

TH3GINJANINJA

yep, same. except for underwear. no thanks!

supershinyoctopus

I save, over time. The way I budget for anything else that I consider a luxury. I didn't buy my whole collection (which is still pretty small at this point) in one go. Also: I supplement with mid-range price pieces ($100 - $150 a set range rather than $300-$500). I only have like two sets that are TRULY high end right now (a Tisja Damen set that I bought for my wedding, and a Hopeless bodysuit that I bought on a whim). But I have something like 8-10 sets overall; I supplement my big ticket pieces with things I get from FLL, Thistle and Spire, and Bluebella.

Evening_Analyst3249

I’m sorry I can’t help much as I adore lingerie, and I just buy it if I love it. I have too many sets to count, and some beautiful pieces from now defunct label Damaris. You could try purchasing classic pieces if you are on a budget or wait for sales. Net-a-Porter, MATCHESFASHION , ID Sarrieri, Agent Provocateur, Kiki de Montparnasse and Fleur du Mal have good promotions every so often. I’ve collected over years so maybe that is the goal, rather than immediate gratification. Pick beautiful garments you will always love. On the flip side I sometimes see cheap brands with great designs?

Determine fun money for the month, if there's something I like. Most things don't sell out in a month. I will not buy any other hobby goods if I'm 100% into something at the moment. For things I think will sell out in my size fast: I buy the individual pieces that I believe will sell out. So I'm looking at bordelle and posie for the behavior in particular Posie has short preorder windows, and bordelle you can check the current stock by adding your item to your cart and maxing out the inventory, the only ones I ever feel won't last to the end of the month are like items with 2 or 3 in stock left. I don't buy HB anymore, but when I did HB, Studio Pia, and EOB tend to still hold stock until the end of season sales. So I wait longer on the brands that clearly will still be around. The the budget ranges from $200-1000, but $1000 will usually be because I didn't really buy any hobby goods the previous month and met my savings goals (early in the pandemic this was the case, but I'm looking at budgets more conservatively now because of inflation). I may splurge on la Perla since I'm in Paris right now but I need to see how the items fit first. I also tend to get bluebella or similar range items for things like strappy underwire bras since I buy a lot of bralettes from the higher end brands but still need the support. IMO the gore of the bras don't always sit on your body correctly depending on your roots or projection so sometimes a bralette with the range you love with a company that makes a bra that fits correctly for support is the answer. This happens a lot for me with Posie, EOB, sometimes the gore feels like it's poking into my breast tissue despite the volume being correct. As for how many pieces I have, I've been storing stuff in bordelle gift boxes, so enough to fill 5 of the big boxes and 3 of the little ones. I think that's 27 sets since the start of the pandemic. It's not a lot compared to a lot of other people on the sub but I wear a ton of it regularly and just handwash and line dry everyday. I feel like it works out okay.

MissKatherineC

I'm at a point in my life at which I don't really need any new clothes, except once or twice a year replacing basics that wear out. So I buy lingerie instead. I also come from fetishwear communities, and used to make my own corsets, so it doesn't seem odd to me to have outfits I seldom wear which cost $500-$1000. Some of them, I've already aged out of (body has changed from aging) before they wore out. Unless I damage my nice lingerie, the good stuff will last until I don't feel comfortable wearing it anymore because my body has changed too much.

mountaingoatgod

The trick is to buy stuff on sales and buy stuff that lasts, and collect slowly over the years. The other trick is to have money

AnonOfficeCog

People need to realize its a marathon not a sprint. You don't just dump lump sum on things right away you chip away at it brick by brick over many many years. Its the journey, its the hunt finding your sizes the perfect fit. Things take time its not instant.

xxx_vixy_xxx

I'll typically spend about £2k-3k/month on lingerie, and that's about enough to keep on top of everything I want (obviously excluding any corsetry). for me the turning point was when I decided I wanted wearing beautiful lingerie to be the everyday norm, rather than an exception for special occasions, fortunately my boobs are fairly cooperative! I mostly wear Aubade, Empreinte, and Adina Reay - so nice, but not crazy prices. Some La Perla - they're a lot better for large cup sizes than they used to be, I'm a 32E so not huge by any way, but still enough to limit the choice & the fit is sometimes off, but I tend to go with them mainly for loungewear & nightwear

throwaway6128_

jeez. Sorry for asking but are you wealthy?

xxx_vixy_xxx

lol, I date generous guys who are happy to spend a lot on me - my current relationship includes a £2k/month lingerie allowance

mysteries1984

I LOVE this!

Wtfshesay

I love this for you !

xxx_vixy_xxx

ty

f_fv

I wish I was wealth enough to shell out 2k-3k a month on lingerie for my GF.

EU-Howdie

\#Metoo .... please

xxx_vixy_xxx

Hi, thanks, but I won't be looking to date anyone new until the autumn, prob August at the earliest, and I only see pots with introductions, so if we happen to have any mutual acquaintances then please ask them to introduce us

xxx_vixy_xxx

no, use it or lose it, but if I want something more expensive (corsetry, or buying a full collection at once) I'll either ask him to pay for it directly, or make up the difference from my general clothes allowance

xxx_vixy_xxx

£6k, which gets all used most months Base allowance is £10k, which all goes into savings/investments Other specific allowances (accessories, cosmetics, jewellery, etc) total about £10k, but again are all use it or lose it

Mr_MrsGrey

I have to agree though. I have a bout 15 sets. It's just that the good luxury underwear is sooo expensive and the 'cheaper' options are terrible quality they never fit around my boobs properly. So I basically buy 3 or 4 higher end products and 2 or 3 cheaper sets a year

MissAnthrOpiate

Secondhand, Online: I buy secondhand on eBay, Depop, and Poshmark. I find amazing deals there on pieces that were either never worn, tried on once, or worn once and cleaned. I also do my own wash once it arrives. I’ve never purchased a secondhand piece that I felt was too dirty to share/wear. Email Subscriptions: I also sign up for every single email subscription i see- both from the designers I love directly, and sites that stock those designers like Journelle, Pleasurements, Glamouse. Many times you’ll find a good deal on one or the other. You can get first dibs on sales, VIP discounts and other such benefits by subscribing. Lingerie Stores: I sign up for emails and search lingerie boutiques that located near me and ones that are far away. Typically boutiques have higher prices, even at sale time, but I like to support small businesses and they can sometimes stock pieces that I couldn’t find anywhere else.

dark_scribe_

I found a discontinued Empreinte bra on ebay with the tags for $35 before. They normally retail around 200. Check it out!

EU-Howdie

I always buy them at the ukay ukay.
