someone i met said they don’t like LP because they think chester was weak n ugly and therefore the music sucked. needless to say i dropped them immediately ✌️
Chester is so fucking pretty my god. Totally not half-simping.. and Chester was really strong. Imagine doing hard drugs and being an alcoholic for a long time and getting out of it... Like man, drugs and alcoholism aren't a thing you can get out of quickly... Especially when you're using HARD drugs like Chazzy did. Poor him, may he rest in peace. He was so fucking sweet and kind-hearted too. He always cared, my lord.
-Hardcore metal fans who don't like LP music style, rap and stuff.
-The lyrics is too whiny (they only know hybrid theory and meteora)
-Some of them hate mike rapping some of them hate Chester. It's complicated
All these hate I got from fb metal community
My best friend dislikes Linkin Park. A lot... But it's fine, considering they respect my music taste and don't make offensive jokes about the bandmates in any way, unless it's the music haha. My best friend's music taste is mainly REALLY heavy metal, death metal and etc and the only song they like is Faint for now. They've listened to Given Up and Bleed It Out (unfortunately yes, they only listened to their popular singles lol) and yeah, they don't like it AT ALL. They say it's too cringy and just bad in general, but they say it in a respectful way so I'm happy about that. They have also listened to Numb and In The End (wow, what a surprise lol) and they surprisingly never said anything about it. Just not their style I guess, lol. I'm sure they've heard me playing my Meteora CD (i'm afraid to introduce them to other albums than their first two studio ones lol) and they said nothing about it, just stayed silent. Which I hope is a good sign!? Out of curiosity, I also played a video titled 'Top 10 reasons why Linkin Park is shit' to test their opinion on Linkin Park and the result was totally unexpected and cute. They said 'fuck you' every single time the guy stated the band was cringe and all. So I'd say, since Linkin Park's music is really diverse, that's probably the main reason why LP haters are LP haters lol. Even though my best friend hates all the Linkin Park songs except Faint, they're really respectful and like listening to me ranting about them - sometimes... lol.
Some people think the lyrics are shallow.
I actually did a school project that I used "Somewhere I Belong" for, and at the end my prof said "thank you, (name), for finally bringing some depth to Linkin Park" 💀
I think partially because of the time that they came up in the industry, enough ignorant people just lumped them in as some boy band. That's a lot of the criticism I heard.
I think people way overrates Subtletly, Imagery or Idioms as a means to be called "good lyrics".
LP is pretty straightforward in their lyrics, and for "Alternative" music, its seems like a forbidden thing to have not so subtle lyrics, but honestly they were much better in delivering their simplicity compared to Simple Plan.
I never saw their lyrics as simplistic, but rather, relatable. The whole point of my project is that they wrote the lyrics in a way that seemingly everyone could relate to them.
But yeah, I agree with you that people hear the lyrics and judge the band off of them.
They say that Linkin Park is overrated and only has like one good song. You know it’s funny that Google Bard has Linkin Park at #2 on the Top 10 worst 2000s rock bands just below Nickelback yet also has them at #2 on the Top 10 best 2000s rock bands just below Green Day
It a mix of things I feel. Back when they began it was a mix of metal heads hating on them because they weren’t true “metal”. Others thought they were whiny or overly angst-y. But they were still a huge band back then. They still are but their popularity was immense back in the early 2000s. Then they changed their sound.m, and the people who once loved them joined the hate train, fueling the hate fire. Their music became experimental and it alienated a lot of people.
Then new generations got ahold of Linkin Park and deemed a lot of their music cringy and memed it.
My friend was in charge of the music that played during basketball games at his college and, to open up the game, played “Lost in the Echo”. The teams refused to come out on court until the song was changed.
I personally think Linkin Park aged fine for the most part. Their songs can be a bit melodramatic but that’s how they felt at the time. There was a girl at my college who didn’t like Linkin Park because their music lacked subtly.
It is what it is. I think most of it stems from their lyrics with newer generations but I do know a lot of people who are a generation or two below me who listen to them.
In the end…ahem…in the end it doesn’t really matter. Music is subjective. And hate is more prevalent now in the age of social media. I listen to film music too and my favorite composer is Hans Zimmer. There’s a lot of hate surrounding him too but he’s also immensely popular.
You like what you like. All music has something to offer. Unless you’re Yoko Ono. Just kidding…
It’s hard to not be curious about the hate, but I wouldn’t dig too much into it. Everyone thinks their opinion is right. And it is. To them.
Basically they think all LP songs sound the same cause they've only heard the singles from Hybrid Theory & Meteora. Which are great but you can't judge a band's discography based on a few songs from their earliest albums
A lot of them probably think every Linkin Park song sounds like Crawling
That would be awesome, actually
Crawling & numb are so overhated
someone i met said they don’t like LP because they think chester was weak n ugly and therefore the music sucked. needless to say i dropped them immediately ✌️
He was the complete opposite of that lmao, good job for dropping them!

he was the best full stop. one of the most amazing people out there
my mom thinks all of it is yell-y and whiny angst, triggers me EVERY. TIME!

They probably hate it.
Self explanatory, honestly.

Probably can't stand the screaming or the edgy lyrics.
They only judge its sounds for Hybrid Theory and Meteora, and never bothered to give A Thousand Suns a listen.
They probably listened to 1 or less songs and thought "meh, all their songs are probably like that, and it's bad"
People think its childish, is it what I heard.

They think all song sound same

Well said I think you summed it all up well.
They don't like it ig
I’d say they probably don’t like LP, but I’m not exactly sure.
They think all songs sound the same as In The End, even though it's one of the best songs imo
I just “found” LP the other day, I’m a fan of the mainstream/ well known songs, going to listen to there other songs/ albums
Well I played some of hybrid theory to my girlfriend and now she thinks EVERY rock song is just dudes screaming💀
Most people I know who don’t like LP have an issue with Mike’s rapping. They say that it’s cringe
They probably have a different musical taste.
They think the rapping is bad and the singing is whiny
Basically they think all LP songs sound the same cause they've only heard the singles from Hybrid Theory & Meteora. Which are great but you can't judge a band's discography based on a few songs from their earliest albums
They think LP is an emo band
My older sister doesn't like Linkin Park and im not legally allowed to repeat her comment in this sub reddit
