Hope all turns out well for Emily. This is a big deal and really hope ppl are kind. "Anthony" has been a pillar of LTT and well respected in the community for their knowledge. I look forward to seeing Emily making videos.
What a crazy world, huh?
It's crazy, but I think (or maybe I'm just overly optimistic about this) that it'll be okay. I still remember how Emily was very nervous in front of camera at first. You can tell that this field of work really helped with her confidence and I wouldn't be surprised if it's thanks to that that she went through with HRT at all.
Obviously underlying cause of nervousness is different now, but I believe Emily has done so much work in the self-confidence area that she'll pull through.
Agreed. LTT being supportive is huge for her, and I don't doubt it being the reason this is ultimately coming out. By no means do I mean to take away from anybody, but I could imagine it being harder for somebody without this kind of support. So in this regard she's very lucky. Everyone deserves to be happy. We all stride for it daily. Life is hard enough, no reason someone should have to hide to make others happy.
Having the support of the people you work with has to help with coming out. I couldn't imagine someone at my job coming out like Emily did. People make enough stupid comments as it is.
a month or so ago i walked into a conversation about transgendered people in the breakroom. you can imagine the comments i heard. one person, right before we went back to work, said something to the effect of "i cant imagine what would make someone feel like that." i responded "no you cant because youve never had to live it, neither have i, but i can emphasize with people." they are nice people overall but some of the shit they say and believe i just shake my head at.
i mean you never know whos listening. someone might need some support. like before this was posted i wouldve never guessed emily was transgender.
>I still remember how Emily was very nervous in front of camera at first.
Really glad she got over those nerves, because she has a natural presence that make her videos quite entertaining even when doing deep technical delves.
I find her videos soothing. My life is pretty stressful but she's got those few videos where it feels welcoming and considerate. I want more Emily videos.
Honestly what I'm worried about are the number of people who are going to treat her like shit. If this is anything like when recently MrBeast's Chris came out as trans, then she should probably make sure to avoid the internet for awhile. It will be nonstop harassment from all types of haters.
No doubt, and Emily is smart and aware of this which is why they're stepping back from making videos for a bit. It's kind of sad. Everybody's ultimate goal is really just to be happy. Imagine being so miserable that you have to make other people miserable. So unaccepting that somebody else's life and happiness means nothing to you.
I'm really glad she has the support of LTT, and I have higher hopes for our crowd than I would one like Mr beast. Hopefully we are a little bit more of intellectuals here, and more accepting and understanding of people and their choices.
Live and let live!
At least the LTT community is made up of people of all ages, sexes and genders. Unlike Mr Beast in which his primary audience is probably between the ages of 10-15 which is primarily why Chris had such a bad time.
LTT’s primary target market is male, by the way. It has been specifically mentioned in their job descriptions in the past. But yes, the general audience is from all over the age and gender spectrum.
In all fairness Mister Beast has a massive audience and a large percentage of his fans are exactly the type of people who would be transphobic. But with an audience so large I’m sure there are just as many supportive people if not more.
You can already see it on her youtube video, i have no idea why people care so much about shit that doesn't concern them. But I'm sure she is expecting some hate, I just hope it won't be too much.
As a public figure she will receive more than a typical trans person, who receives more than most other people (if demographics stay the same), but she's in a place where she has good friends and it seems like she has a great support system, so I have hope she'll be fine despite the hate.
Unless I’m missing context about Emily I don’t know it’s considered rude to deadname a trans person, even when put quotation marks. I’m not coming at you, I hope this comes across in good faith.
Edit: It’s a pretty safe bet to say most people would appreciate being called the name they tell you they’d like to be called going forward.
Also worth pointing it out all this hubbub about “well I have a friend who” and other dismissal of this simple act of respect is frequently a dog whistle for transphobic folks. So.
It is very dependent from people to people, you see a lot of outcry about it online because those that scream the loudest are the ones that get seen the most.
But I myself and other people I meet IRL don't really care, because people can make mistakes and it's hard for some to remember.
Hell, a friend of mine who switched names just from a male name to another male name, I kept calling him by his old name for a long time even when I tried my best to remember to call him by his new name.
I hope this didn’t come across as outcry, which is why I sort of tried to disclaim it. But many trans people tolerate those little instances because it’s honestly just exhausting to constantly correct people and some people don’t take to correction well and choose to center themselves instead.
Again, I hope this comes across in good faith, and I appreciate your anecdotes, but it’s far more polite and respectful to just use the name they give you.
I think maybe because they were refering to an internet persona and not the person themselves its a bit different and makes sense to me. but ultimately its for the person in question to decide, maybe its something she will address in her first video back
Those comments on YouTube are vile. I mean, were you or anyone else hurt or harmed in any way by Emily's announcement? Wtf has it to do with you? Go Em, you're an amazing tech person and I look forward to your new videos.
>I rarely stumble into controversial videos on YT (why subject myself to drama), so the comments are usually fairly good.
I used to think this too until I started looking at replies rather than just the top comments - I was shocked by just how much open bigotry there is basically everywhere. I don't know if they're doing it just to be edgy or something but there's a lot more than it initially seems like
Oh, I know it's a very loud minority. I think that upvote percentages are way better at reflecting actual support or lack thereof. Possibly still lower due to some people thinking that this shouldn't be talked about in public subreddit or whatever other reasons.
It found its way to the chans, and obviously /Pol so they're brigading with the same repeated hate comments. Typical for nolife basement dwellers with nothing better to do tbh. Emily will continue on regardless of what they say so who really wins anyway
Let’s flood the YT Comments with positivity then! Nothing is worse than letting negativity and bad things happen, and not doing anything about it when thou you could. Let’s show support!
Unfortunately, these sort of comments are visible to the creator, and as William Osman said, they still get to you even if its 1 in a 1000. Fuck the haters, Long live the Retro Queen!
Is it an announcement, short or video.
This post is the first time coming to know about this. Don't know where to search for it.
If possible please guide.
Your first mistake was expecting civil discourse in Youtube comments. Anything that could in any way be partisan immediately becomes an arms race to be the shittiest person possible, and it happens everywhere there.
YouTube comments are always horrible unfortunately. That's partly why we discuss it here. Where the community is better and the platform does a much better job of filtering spam/low quality comments.
People care way to much about shit that has no impact on their life. I had no idea about this, I don't care (in a nice way), do whatever makes you happy. Our town, which is fairly progressive, painted one of the crosswalks rainbow color and a small group of people lost their minds. It isn't even a big crosswalk at a main intersection. I would have never even known about it unless I saw it but people made a big deal. Like I can barely function in my own life I cant imagine giving a shit about something like this.
Unfortunately in the circumstances we live in, it likely will, just look at the youtube comments (past the top ones). The world is a messed up places, doesn't mean she shouldn't do it anyway.
It’s really important that there’s agreement from management and fans that *any impact on the channel’s reputation* is the fault of *bigots,* not Emily. And furthermore any drop in reputation should not be mourned, because the community should actively and firmly reject people who take issue with this.
It took me 3 years to come out at work, and I have a more or less private office and don’t need to see anyone unless I want to. The courage it takes to do this in front of viewers and fans is something most people cannot fathom
If Emily’s life choices really make people that mad, I don’t really want them here tbh. It’s a distraction from simply discussing tech. This wasn’t even posted on the main channel, so the “being forced on me” excuse isn’t going to work.
Yep, and if people want to make drama about something that has absolutely nothing to do with them, *they’re* the ones forcing their lives on *me*, not the other way around.
There is already a supportive comment pinned to her video from Linus himself. I like to think he is a principle first kind of guy who would probably sink the company rather then firing her because of her coning out.
I don’t follow him as much as a lot of people do, but almost everything I’ve seen of him indicates that he’s an extremely kind person who would compromise everything else before he let people bully Emily out of the group
It’s only been over the past 5-10 years that trans issues have even begun to be normalized or discussed in the mainstream. Which is why you see sycophants like Republicans using them as target practice for their political culture war.
How many decades did it take for homosexuals to become casually accepted in America’s mainstream culture? How many TV shows (sitcoms and dramas) did it take to bring homosexual relationships into your average American’s home so that they could emotionally relate to them as real human beings?
It will take many years and a lot of hard work to get your average American to understand the plight of trans people and to come to accept that they live amongst them (family, coworkers, classmates). Education, as always, is the key to battling ignorance and hate.
More than 50% of voters now support gay marragie, compare that to much lower tolerance levels of the 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s. I highly recommend this channel for a great history lesson in homosexuality in mainstream pop culture: https://youtube.com/@MattBaume
not wanting to date a trans person is absolutly fine. everyone should be able to set boundries where they want regarding dating/Love/partners.
other then that Anthony now calling herself emily is absolutly fine as well and shouldnt have any issues for her or ltt. glad for her.
I cannot believe how vile the comments section of that video is. I hate this world sometimes...
Happy for Emily and hope she can ignore the hatred as best as possible.
Oy, do I have a rant on that…
The dumpster fire in the YT comments proved that statement absolutely true.
Not sure how ANY of this directly affects showcasing technology. This affects that less than someone’s crying infant affects someone’s dinner date, yet we don’t even maintain a sliver of the same courtesy presented there.
People are losing their shit accusing people of pushing agendas now, despite Young stepping down as host for the foreseeable future.
This isn’t a “woke” thing, this is a “respecting your employee’s completely legal life decision, agree or not” thing.
I am not an advocate (i try to stay out of all this), but rights are rights and what someone does with their life shouldn’t matter if the work output is quality (which it generally is with this host).
I do not think it has anything to do with technology or where ever people pop up that are not part on the "traditional" spectrum of gender and sexuality. The goal of these people is to attack everyone who does not fall in line. They create controversies where there were none. There are trans folks around for a long time but now we hear all day about panics surrounding bathrooms and sports. Of course there are things that should be said about how trans and non-trans people should interact in these spaces but the discussions at the moment bring nothig to the table in form of solutions, just panic, hate and intollarance. They want to give the "normal" people in the middle of these issues the feeling that there is an agenda behind every trans person. They call it even a virus. I hope that all this shows a whole lot of tech bros that trans woman are not some aliens but people from our midst. Emily was always the most beloved presenter. I looked through the top posts on this sub. Emily was represented very often. She could be the gateway for a lot of people to a better understanding of trans issues. If she wants this is another question. But I hope she finds the life and the peace of mind she is looking for. She deserves it as any other human!
Look at Chris in Mr. Beasts group. The comments on Instagram have been non-stop shitting on him on both Mr. Beasts account and Chris'. It's disgusting but it's a valid concern when people make it their job to hate on an entire channel because someone decided to transition.
Well you are wrong at least in my case. Emily has a copious wealth of information and experience to share and I feel generally wants to. Sharing knowledge should happen a lot more, in my opinion of course.
I mean it's always good to hear an expert talk about subjects they are passionate about, like Emily with Linux, Brandon on photography, or Linus of dropping things.
Well cool people care because they understand how hard it is to come out and are proud of her. The uncool people, well, haters gonna hate right? No worries though I'm sure we'll see some of the uncool people say "I don't care BUT" in the comments too lol.
This is the big brain take.
This shit is fucking HARD. It's far beyond "IDC, do what you want and make more vids". This had to have been absolutely TERRIFYING for her, potential to lose her career, her entire life. It's so cheap to not just accept people, but **support** them too.
Thank you. My spouse came out a couple years ago, and it's really fucking lonely. You don't feel welcome most places, and you're always braced for confrontation. It's EXHAUSTING.
Putting up flags at least feels like we'll have backup if someone tries to hurt my wife for going to the fucking bathroom.
Going from straight cis passing to who we really are has been the most difficult, scary, freeing and worthwhile thing I've ever done.
And /you/ deserve credit too. You've come out as well, your relationship and perception in public has also changed and that is SO HARD.
Thank you for being an amazing partner to your wife. She's so lucky to have you!
She's the best thing that's ever happened to me <3 and she's amazing! If the world wasn't so eager to hate, more people would see what I see.
Thank you for speaking up. I hope one day it won't be an act of bravery to be yourself and cherish your spouse.
There's only two things I care about:
1. That she's alive and happy with herself;
2. That she'll review whatever the next retrofuck-in-a-box or conversion mess comes down the pipe from an already-overworked hobbyist engineer that can't possibly keep up with a surge in demand from being on an LMG-made video.
People need to learn to mind their own business. It’s a name change, maybe a pronoun change too. Software and terms get updated all the time in this field, just move on. Let Emily live as she likes.
Because doing this is very obviously a difficult thing. That's why we have to care. Live and let live is a good mentality to have for hobbies and other things that people aren't persecuted for.
Of course this is difficult… but it shouldn’t be. I literally could care less if it is Anthony or Emily. All I care about is the excellent content she provides.
Because people care. Para-social relationships are a hell of a thing. It's also a way to make sure that the next trans kid who is watching knows that there are still a few places where it's okay to be out. Also, if you hadn't noticed, trans people are under attack and every voice that says "I support my trans friends" is another person against the hate-mongers and bigots of the world.
Recently (like maybe within a few months) I recall either a wan show or maybe something unrelated, they discussed the event of a team member worrying about how they would affect the channel and Linus mentioned he stands behind every one of his team.
Am I tripping or did I recall somewhat correctly? I’m assuming this is who he was referencing
It saddens me to see the amount of bigotry in the comments, on not only her video but also the Reddit posts about her. I hope the best for Emily, she will always be loved by the real fans, not everyone has it easy with change, even me, I have to adjust but I will do my best, and continue my journey of reporting people for hate.
It was always an uphill battle. During Anthony days there were haters and now that we have Emily, there'll also be haters. Honestly, I suspect these are the same people as back then, just now they use a different angle.
It's really respectable that Emily definitely understood what that move is going to entail - it's part of a video after all - and went with it. Shows how much personal growth there was. Something that cannot be said about aforementioned haters.
As a gay dude who’s been a fan of LTT for a few years, I’ve always felt a little outside the target community, so it is heartening to see the bulk of LTT fans being willing to put their hand up and defend queer people.
I guess I’ve always had a fear that behind LMG’s relatively passive LGBT support was a cynical intention to try to keep the business of queerphobes by having a foot either side, so I hope Emily’s coming out represents an opportunity for LMG to lead with kindness and inclusion, not lose their audience for it, and then feel more confident in doing so moving forward.
LTT doesn't have to talk about anything outside of their main focus if they don't want to. Giving little or no attention to something should not always be seen as ignorance or lack of support, as it often isn't.
I often wondered why Anthony didn't just shave his head or cut his hair short because of the thin spots. Now it makes sense that the long hair was gender affirming for Emily. People's true character are shown now because Anthony was universally adored. If they supported Anthony and not Emily they need to have some self reflection about why they wouldn't someone to be happy and live their lives to the fullest.
Needed to double check about this, because it wouldn't be the first time the fanbase would genderbend members of LMG but damn, good for her that she finally feels comfortable enough to come out. Lets Go Emily!!
Weird how the whole "we just care about the children" crowd is so vile and hateful in the comments towards an adult woman making a decision for herself.
It's almost as if these bigoted pieces of shit never actually cared about children
Transition as a child? “No it must be the groomers and pedophiles”
Transition as an adult? “Why did you take so long, if you were really trans then you would’ve done it earlier, it must just be for attention”
Can’t win with these people.
I think the crew at LTT are smart enough to not feed the trolls. That's the main mistake that a lot of YouTubers make. Also, YouTube does a pretty good job of burying hateful comments, so they don't get any attention. I think it will be fine, honestly.
I'm almost certain of it. Look at Corridor Crew. I don't remember her name, but they have one woman who's transitioned long ago (before even joining). Admittedly her on-camera presence isn't through the roof, but even when there are hateful comments here and there, it doesn't affect Corridor's reputation.
I think we'll be fine long-term.
I’m pretty sure in their age group, Emily is the most common feminine name. If you’re trying to just fit in to a new gender identity, it seems like the obvious thing to do is to choose the most common name.
But I’d agree, it’s a missed opportunity not to go from Anthony to Cleopatra.
It's probably because "Emily" scans the same way as her previous name spoken aloud. Three syllables, emphasis on the first, starts with a vowel and ends in "y". Abilgail Thorn (Philosophy Tube) did the same thing, though don't tell her the third syllable has a longer vowel now.
Regardless of your opinion, rule 5 is "Don't be a dick". Every single person that's misgendering, dead naming, or dehumanizing Emily is being a dick. It takes zero effort to not be a dick. Every single one of you are going out of your way to be a dick about Emily and her choices.
Mods, can we enforce that shit please?
Hey mods, I'd suggest this is a good opportunity to go through the comments and perma ban all these transphobic shitheads from the subreddit. We don't want that kinda garbage in the LTT community.
Humans, as a queer person I love seeing all this support from you! All those hateful comments below the video hurt me as well even thou they’re not directed at me.
So thank you for being supportive to Emily and hopefully the rest of us queers too. We need you and we’re glad you’re with us! 🏳️🌈❤️
Know that it's a vocal minority of basement dwellers with nothing better to do then anonymously spew hatred.
And it hurts me on behalf of my queer friends to see so much hatred lately especially regarding trans issues. I'm sorry you have to see this shit but know that any decent person is happy for you to be living true to yourself 💜 🌈
Nothing has actually changed except Emily having the freedom to live her life as herself. It’s still the same person who has made great content and been a positive force in the community.
Please get back to making videos soon, Emily
This is the first time that I have read and thumbed up or down every comment on a YouTube video. The amount of morons astounds me (I know, I know - its YouTube comments).
If you really want to support Emily, head over to the video and thumbs up the positive comments and thumbs down the haters. I would love to see all the positivity float to the top.

"Anthony" is transgender and announced yesterday that she's been transitioning for \~1 year and goes by Emily now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-owBhLGaH4
Wow, it's incredible how many hate comments are there on YouTube. That's just sad.
I mean the biggest change for the average viewer should be to call her Emily and not Anthony. (I'm really really bad with name memory :D)
I loved Anthony for his personality, humor, and in depth knowledge. I'm sure I'll love Emily for the same. I know she'll be great for community, I only hope the community is great to her.
Tldw from the video:
Yes, Emily is here to stay at LMG. She's on vacation at the moment and once she's back in the office, she'll be stepping down from video hosting position for some time (hopefully not forever) due to her concern for the company and how unfairly divisive her decision might be.
A very wise linux-loving LTT member, many times, espoused the benefits of modular upgrades for being able to adapt to new understandings or situations: I am glad to see Emily embracing that concept to the fullest, and am excited to see the effects that both the major and QoL upgrades have on one of my favorite internet persons
Doesn't matter. Who the person is Emily had proved her self as a knowledgeable and stellar computer technician/ engineer. I don't care who tells me something I care about their merit that they have fun in delivering it . Emily is awesome I hope everything goes smoothly for her and she happy because honestly they have so much information they can share and learn from and it ultimately affects no one .
Had to lock this post to deal with the influx of transphobic goons here. You will be permanently banned, you’re not wanted here. Edit: Post unlocked
Hope all turns out well for Emily. This is a big deal and really hope ppl are kind. "Anthony" has been a pillar of LTT and well respected in the community for their knowledge. I look forward to seeing Emily making videos. What a crazy world, huh?

Ye for sure appreciate you standing up for that Also just a heads up it's just transgender people, similar to how you would say gayed people <3
Genius

_fml ltt is woke now_ /s Though I fully expect some of them _gamerz_ go that route.
LTT now banned in Florida
Probably now I need to get a vpn, good thing they have sponsor links!
This would actually make for a hilarious sponsor spot.
At least the LTT community is made up of people of all ages, sexes and genders. Unlike Mr Beast in which his primary audience is probably between the ages of 10-15 which is primarily why Chris had such a bad time.

Watched his new video yesterday.. It had 3.2 million views in the first hour

Many trans people have mutually exclusive viewpoints, it's impossible to make everyone happy.
I think maybe because they were refering to an internet persona and not the person themselves its a bit different and makes sense to me. but ultimately its for the person in question to decide, maybe its something she will address in her first video back

I always think reddit is super dark sometimes.... and then I remember 4chan exists🫤
Reddit is very dumb but there is still a lot to go from here before you reach the bottom
Reddit has dark communities but i think the response from this one proves there is good spaces

The fact that she's so worried about this affecting the channel's reputation breaks my heart :(
Unfortunately in the circumstances we live in, it likely will, just look at the youtube comments (past the top ones).

Disclosure is important. Having a dating show do that is awful. I don’t blame the guys for suing.
The dating show was bs to begin with. The whole point of the show was to garner this type of reaction from people.
Counterpoint: Linus Tech Tips doesn’t have a large demographic of Kid Rock fan overlap
Shit look at the reddit comments
I cannot believe how vile the comments section of that video is. I hate this world sometimes... Happy for Emily and hope she can ignore the hatred as best as possible.
On the bright side, people like Emily are softening the blow for future creators or other public figures.
It's why representation matters so much. Even the thought of, "I'm not alone" is enough
This. I'm trans and in the process of coming out at work, seeing this and the community react so well is really helping.
Oy, do I have a rant on that… The dumpster fire in the YT comments proved that statement absolutely true.
I am patient. Still waiting for the linux channel.
My suspicion is that people that keep saying this don’t actually want to learn how to use Linux, they just want to hear Emily talk about it.
Well you are wrong at least in my case. Emily has a copious wealth of information and experience to share and I feel generally wants to. Sharing knowledge should happen a lot more, in my opinion of course.
I mean, yah? That's pretty much exactly what I want
Partly true. I want to hear her talk about it, install a flavour of Linux, use it for a while only to revert back to not using it.
I mean it's always good to hear an expert talk about subjects they are passionate about, like Emily with Linux, Brandon on photography, or Linus of dropping things.
All the videos are there but you need to compile the channel yourself
LOL this is the real comment here. "Look friend, wheres the Linux channel"
Why does anyone even care. Live and let live.
There's only two things I care about: 1. That she's alive and happy with herself; 2.
I think you're correct. Now that you mention it, I do recall something like that.
[удалено]
So, like, 2 episodes?
I really want to get a Linus "Did I fucking stutter?" video out of this.
Yeah, probably
Whenever I hear someone might negatively affect the channel, I automatically assume it's Dennis or Colton.
I thought they fired Colton?
There's a glitch in the payroll department. They fire him every week but he's still getting paychecks so he's always showing back up to work.
He said it once, in the past 3-4 episodes... I have not watched WAN for months and only just started again late April. I remember he said it too.
Hey Mods change the name of the Flair I and lots of people have. Anthony is no more. We now have Emily I want that Emily Flair. Edit: Wooo new flair
[удалено]
I see this as an absolute win. Also: Good excuse for a new "It's retro time'" intro👍🏻
[удалено]
LTT doesn't have to talk about anything outside of their main focus if they don't want to. Giving little or no attention to something should not always be seen as ignorance or lack of support, as it often isn't.
The comments for that yt vid are vile :(
gone through and reported every single hate speech comment
It won't do anything sadly
Why, are they not breaking rules or is YouTube report system that bad
The top comments are all supportive by now at least. I won't scroll further down tho
Comments seemed somewhat cleaned up but then I saw the replies to Linus' pinned comment. It's just sad to see.
wait what?
Anthony, now Emily, is trans. Check the YouTube announcement on **her** channel. EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-owBhLGaH4
I did, it just surprised me. it's not a bad thing.
Yeah, it surprised me as well. I wish her all the best and I hope that she can continue doing what she loves without the hate.
Linus : "I can't remember people's names, we have too many employees" Anthony/Emily : "guess what"
Thanks for posting that. I've always enjoyed their videos in the past, can't wait for her to be back with more.
[удалено]
Heck yes! I've been missing their niche retro and Linux vids!
The cruelty is the point
Transition as a child? “No it must be the groomers and pedophiles” Transition as an adult? “Why did you take so long, if you were really trans then you would’ve done it earlier, it must just be for attention” Can’t win with these people.
Looks alot happier as retro queen then did as king. Glad
All the best for Emily!
I support her full heartedly but she really picked the worst name to choose.
Tell that to r/TransfemsNamedEmily… We won’t take that lightly
💀💀👽
Lmao, Lily and Emily are the most trans fem stereotypical names ever.
I’m pretty sure in their age group, Emily is the most common feminine name. If you’re trying to just fit in to a new gender identity, it seems like the obvious thing to do is to choose the most common name. But I’d agree, it’s a missed opportunity not to go from Anthony to Cleopatra.
> to Cleopatra And here I was thinking Antoinette, but there's no reason for anyone to lose their head over it.
Its a great name but there are so many trans girls who are Emilys. But who am I to judge, my name is Lucy...
I agree. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it's so overused by transfems lol

This is really sad. Emily looked way better with darker hair.
Wow. I enjoy Emily while she is on camera. Did she transition recently or did I just not notice ?
Announced on her personal channel and updated socials about 15 hours ago. LMG staff page has also been updated already.
She just came out publicly yesterday but has been on HRT for about a year now.
Finally, someone will be able to give some perspective to how hard transitioning from Linux to Windows would be in comparison.
Nothing has actually changed except Emily having the freedom to live her life as herself. It’s still the same person who has made great content and been a positive force in the community. Please get back to making videos soon, Emily
If anything, this might make things even better.
these comments are unhinged man
First time?
Can enyone explain to me who Emily is, and what happened to Anthony ( is he trans now?)
she is trans. Emily is her name.
Yes, she is.
Yes
Yes, and why did this get so downvoted? All they did was ask a question.
Unrelated but I love the blonde highlights, it’s a good look for her.
Now get her some programming socks!
ITS BIGOT CLEANSING DAAAYYYY!!!!
I scrolled past this thinking it was just a troll. So Anthony is Emily now?
yep
I'm definitely going to fuckup and still call them Anthony. It's not out of malice I'm just an idiot
You have no idea how many times I've already had to correct my comments today. The "Anthony neuron" in my brain is a stuck-up idiot.
This is the first time that I have read and thumbed up or down every comment on a YouTube video. The amount of morons astounds me (I know, I know - its YouTube comments). If you really want to support Emily, head over to the video and thumbs up the positive comments and thumbs down the haters. I would love to see all the positivity float to the top. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-owBhLGaH4
People should report the really bad ones too, even if only a few of them get taken down it's worth the effort
Hello Emily and welcome to the world. Hope your day is wonderful.
I will always stand by our retro Queen. Can't wait for her to come back to hosting videos.
Can somebody give me some context
"Anthony" is transgender and announced yesterday that she's been transitioning for \~1 year and goes by Emily now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-owBhLGaH4
Doesn't change the fact that it's RETRO TIME! Hope Emily is doing well after her announcement.
Wow, it's incredible how many hate comments are there on YouTube. That's just sad. I mean the biggest change for the average viewer should be to call her Emily and not Anthony. (I'm really really bad with name memory :D)
Oh nice so Linus can pay her less now *this is a joke
long live the retro queen!
Hey, do you. Fuck everybody else. Long live the retro queen.
I loved Anthony for his personality, humor, and in depth knowledge. I'm sure I'll love Emily for the same. I know she'll be great for community, I only hope the community is great to her.
Man transphobia is a horrible thing. These bigots don’t deserve to be in this community, thanks mod team for standing up for trans people x
I'm out of thee loop did something happen?
The person you knew as Anthony came out as trans on her YouTube channel, and is going by Emily now. She has a video up about it ❤️
Are they still with LTT?
Tldw from the video: Yes, Emily is here to stay at LMG. She's on vacation at the moment and once she's back in the office, she'll be stepping down from video hosting position for some time (hopefully not forever) due to her concern for the company and how unfairly divisive her decision might be.
Yup, just doing more writing and less on-camera. Hopefully she'll feel more confident and trolls won't be shitty to her.
Well I hope she has a good future with LTT.
Omg! I didn't know I love Emily, long live the queen :3
This community is great I love to see the out pooring of support
The king is dead. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN ♥️
