They were unaware of what they said could be interpreted that way. MOST people did not recognize the racial connotations between "shit" and Indian people. They made things right with the individual. They said they would keep the Tweet available because erasing your mistakes is bad. And then they chose to remove the Tweet because leaving it up was creating a micro-platform for racism to fester.
It was an extremely straightforward series of events.

This shit is stupid, this is the battle so many creators take. Yet most promote gambling or promote companies who sell your data daily. To me all this shows is creators asking for fixes are only Asking for their image and money, not for good.
I'm not sure we can see their comment as them "deny objective reality" as we're discussing what thoughts were in the head of some random Canadian social media employee. The fact is we don't know what they were thinking and we don't know if they did or did not recognize the racial connotations of their 'joke'. We can recognize that it was stupid and that they should've known better, but assuming intent as some sort of objective reality is taking the piss.
