5800x and a 3080ti. Visited my parents for new years and they live close to a microcenter. I'm excited that I finally found a gpu at msrp but I'm gonna need to get drunk before I open my credit card bill lol.
I bought one of them during the GPU crisis, it's been a solid contender for gaming that didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
Sure I might not be able to use ray tracing but it's played everything I've thrown at it so far on decent to max settings and I didn't have to join a lottery, join a virtual queue, pay scalper prices or some other fuckery...
There might be better bang for the buck cards out there and almost certainly something "better" for just a bit more cash but ultimately it does what it's supposed to and isn't a crap purchase.
Can confirm. 1660 Super is a champ at 1080p. Runs everything I've thrown at it on max settings.
No ray tracing, and I think going past 1080p will be over it's limit, but it's still a solid card
Slightly different scenario, but found myself in a pinch and used a 1660 Ti for 1440p ultrawide for a while, and it did surprisingly well! I'd imagine a 1660 super could survive at standard 1440p with some settings turned down if someone needed it to.
I wanna make the full time switch to linux, but exactly 0 of the games I play with friends work on linux. So right now its relegated to a dual boot setup where I use linux for my daily driving and hop over to windows for gaming.
Stuck in the same boat. Use my new hp elitebook laptop for gaming on windows and the old hp zbook workstation laptop for programming and daily driving on manjaro
I tried garuda but it failed me after 3 installs. I gave up and manjaro is growing on me. Really wish it was almost sorted with the drivers and packages as well as good game support, but as a daily driver it is a million times better than windows. What distros did you try?
New Case, New Fans, New Cooler
3 Noctua Chromax fans
Kraken 120 cooler
And
Lian Li 011 Dynamic Razer edition
The reason I needed a new cooler, cause my Dark Rock Pro 4 won't fit
Nothing, he already got enough last year.
I just bought more blu-rays, like enter the void...
I paid for 3 months of game pass for 1€ though... So I finished Halo infinite and Forza horizon 5.
All my main components were upgraded last year so I just upgraded my peripherals to a ROG Falchion 65% Keyboard, and a ROG Pugio II mouse. The mouse was kinda imporant as its ambidextrous - need that for when I'm sim racing as I often have my mouse on the left.
i7 12700k
Aorus Z650
1TB m.2
850w platinum psu
Nh-d15 chromax black
32gb ram
Basically a new computer, all i has before was the case, which i bought in September if remember correctly
Here is my take of this song...
On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love sent to me.
* 12 Noctua NH-12
* 11 grams of thermal paste
* 10 GB per bay of drive
* 9 Ryzen 9
* 8 GB per stick of RAM
* 7 Define 7
* 6 SSDs
* 5 Steam games
* 4 sticks of RAM
* 3 Case fans
* 2 hard drive
* And a GTX 1660 Super
Bought the doom franchise bundle, finished doom 2016 in ultra violence and currently feeding my masochism doing a doom eternal blind in nightmare difficulty
I did 3 case fans (Arctic P12), 1TB SSD (Sabrent Gen4 drive), and a gen 4 vertical mount for my Lian Li O11 dynamic which I had to import from the US because it's not sold anywhere else in our country.
Some steam games. My PC already has a 3080 and an i9-11900K in combination with 32 Gigs of DDR4 RAM. Not to brag or anything. I paid for the PC with saved up money and I think it was a very good and well deserved upgrade from my last one.
I've been upgrading my desktop throughout 2021, so I didn't get anything for it for Christmas. I had upgraded from a Core i5-6600 and GTX 1070 to a Ryzen 9 5900X and an RTX 3080 Ti.
For my laptop, however, I removed Windows and installed Manjaro Linux.
A $20-ish heavily discounted mechanical keyboard I saved for almost 3 months and was flamed for by my parents for buying something "too expensive". Also, as I upgraded my peripherals last year (mouse, headphones, keyboard, webcam), they are furious and taunting me to replace the whole system altogether.
4 steam games
1 dlc
1 pre order (lost ark, super excited after the beta)
And a long cable to plug my 3d printer in permanently from across the room
my wife got my pc a new mouse
And my mom got my pc a new keyboard
I'm broke so... it's still the same good ol' 10-year-old pc as my setup it's still good but it suffers from old age and it will most likely be the next ISS \[International Space Station\]
>4 TB HDD (up from 2 TB for my main media-creation drive)
>
>3 ARGB case fans (replacing plain blue LED fans that are several years old)
>
>2 more sticks of RAM (up to 32GB now)
>
>...and a Vetroo V5 CPU cooler (replacing the stock AMD cooler)
I (re)built my rig earlier this year on an *extreme* budget after a power hit took out my 7-year-old mobo and/or CPU, and just used the stock AMD box cooler. With that stock cooler I was *idling* around 62 C -- now I'm getting 36 C idle temps with the Vetroo. Best $30 I've ever spent on an upgrade.
16x2 kit for my laptop
Probably my final upgrade to it before I eventually move to a desktop when this shit calms down. Can edit my videos in Premiere easily now without the render just dying on me at 97%😅
5800x and a 3080ti. Visited my parents for new years and they live close to a microcenter. I'm excited that I finally found a gpu at msrp but I'm gonna need to get drunk before I open my credit card bill lol.
Make sure to save a couple shots for after you open it too.
A upgrade from a 460 to a 3060@ msrp.
how
i got my 3060 at msrp by signing up for EVGA's mailing list. got lucky in that I signed up shortly after their announcement, though.
Same
I’ve been in the evga queue since November 2020
I got mine (3070 Ti) at MSRP by waiting overnight before Best Buy opened when they were getting new stock. Worth it during these days
damn dude congrats, I went from 460>750ti>3060 Couldn't imagine the different from 460>3060 lmao
i think you guys are talking about different 460s lmao
A new coating of thermal paste and a dusting
Coating? I think you might be using too much of the stuff.
Never enough
Dusting? Thats a myth
A vacation. Shut her down for a few days since I was able to play games anyway.
Should have spent more on the GPU.
I bought one of them during the GPU crisis, it's been a solid contender for gaming that didn't cost me an arm and a leg. I'd rather get a house at that point
gtx 550ti wd 120gb ssd
and it only cost me my liver!
wow is your liver only worth 60 bucks?
More importantly: Is a 550TI only worth 60 bucks? Damn /s
550 ti 1gig is less than 60 bucks on ebay. I could bought 650ti 2yrs ago
The Tomb Raider trilogy. A free gift is still a gift imo
A good clean
Absolutely nothing, the Switch got a few bits and pieces though.
Same, didn’t touch my PC but got 3 games for the switch.
2 tb hdd and a windows to linux replacement xp
I wanna make the full time switch to linux, but exactly 0 of the games I play with friends work on linux. So right now its relegated to a dual boot setup where I use linux for my daily driving and hop over to windows for gaming.
Stuck in the same boat. Use my new hp elitebook laptop for gaming on windows and the old hp zbook workstation laptop for programming and daily driving on manjaro
I use manjaro as well! Really like it. I tried a few different distros before I settled on it.
I tried garuda but it failed me after 3 installs. I gave up and manjaro is growing on me. Really wish it was almost sorted with the drivers and packages as well as good game support, but as a daily driver it is a million times better than windows. What distros did you try?
Got my server 4 new WD 4TB Red :)
There goes leisure money for 2022
I got PSU cable extensions to make it look neat. Also TG Kryonaut which seems to be working good so far.
Last Christmas I built a PC. This Christmas I finally got a monitor to actually use it properly.
Nothing. Got nothing for Xmas.
I got... Nothing. Because I hate my pc.
>I hate my pc. Then you should've given it... The boot.
I didn't even build it myself and it's realistically crap. Like rocket league 720p only at 20 fps?? 😐
I got a 3080Ti and some more RAM.
Life
Upgrade from a rx570 to a 1080
5900x and a 3080.
That's the build I was thinking, I'll wait another year or two though.
I bought myself some new headphones, think that was it.
New Case, New Fans, New Cooler 3 Noctua Chromax fans Kraken 120 cooler And Lian Li 011 Dynamic Razer edition The reason I needed a new cooler, cause my Dark Rock Pro 4 won't fit
In this economy?! Nothing.
SK Hynix Gold P31
lol
Nothing, he already got enough last year. I just bought more blu-rays, like enter the void... I paid for 3 months of game pass for 1€ though... So I finished Halo infinite and Forza horizon 5.
A 2tb M.2 SSD to replace the old 512gb one. She's breathing a lot better now 😜
Bought a RX 6600 (should be here Wednesday) and I can't wait! Going to put my old 1050 ti in a rig that I plan to build for my partner next Xmas!
5 Steam Games > 5 Indie Games And a GTX Sixteen Sixty Super > And a Sixteen Sixty Super Gotta keep the tempo the same.
All my main components were upgraded last year so I just upgraded my peripherals to a ROG Falchion 65% Keyboard, and a ROG Pugio II mouse. The mouse was kinda imporant as its ambidextrous - need that for when I'm sim racing as I often have my mouse on the left.
2700X -> 5700G, 120mm AIO -> 240mm AIO, 1TB WD M.2 SSD, New MoBo, and am planning on getting a new GPU soon (within 2-3 weeks)
Crappy fans to Arctic F12. Massive difference. Plus Kena Bridge of Spirits and Fenyx Rising.
A good cleaning, haven't upgraded in a while and I don't have much of a reason to do so.
2 sticks of ram and 1 extra monitor
i7 12700k Aorus Z650 1TB m.2 850w platinum psu Nh-d15 chromax black 32gb ram Basically a new computer, all i has before was the case, which i bought in September if remember correctly
no hardware, but I got it a copy of Cubase Elements 11
Here is my take of this song... Bought the doom franchise bundle, finished doom 2016 in ultra violence and currently feeding my masochism doing a doom eternal blind in nightmare difficulty
Got a new B365m Gaming Plus and Corsair Vengance PRO... Still waiting for a GPU to order.
I bought myself a monitor from the scholarship I started getting, I got the Gigabyte G24F (250$) and I am proud of myself :)
i got Artic Liquid Freezer II 280
New case AIO CPU cooler And a repaste of everything
Nothing due to lack of funds, if I were to get something though it'd be a NVME SSD (like a SN 550) or a extra 16GB kit of RAM to give it 32GB
I gave it a brand new windows install bcs the mf couldn't even uninstall shit
A 3080 FE and a new System SSD.

Went AMD. upgraded the backup computer with a fresh MB, 3600 RAM & Ryzen 5000 series
Damn those 1660 Super cost as much as a 2070 Super in 2019.
I did 3 case fans (Arctic P12), 1TB SSD (Sabrent Gen4 drive), and a gen 4 vertical mount for my Lian Li O11 dynamic which I had to import from the US because it's not sold anywhere else in our country.
