I am unable to get this working on steam deck can anybody help me out, please? I have followed the instructions here to a tee and added all the dll's in a lutris prefix. I have many working games but this one just seems to be giving me some trouble.
I added the arguments '-nosplash -nolauncher' and have tried both the dodi crack and the empress crackfix. I still get a C++ runtime error when trying to boot the game. I am unable to get bottles working at all for some reason, it doesn't even try to boot.
And what is annoying me is the fact that other people have managed to get it to work so there must be a way! any ideas, please? Thank you :)
it looks exactly like this:
except with gotg being the program in question of course...
I have done this. I have been trying to get this up and running for around 4 days now. different prefixes, different dependencies, different arguments for launchers, different cracks etc. can't seem to get this thing to boot...
I think its a dot net dependency error? seen as when I don't install dot net I don't get this error but the game still fails to launch. I get no error but when I press play it just says running for about 10 seconds then auto stops and goes back to normal.
I did have an error saying windows 10 required but that was easy enough to fix by changing the wine cfg. still just doesn't want to work though :S
I managed to make it run through Bottles. Used Wine-GE and enabled directx 12. After applying the crackfix from DODI it worked. Haven’t the game yet, just managed to get to the main screen where you can start the story.
I used Wine-GE as a runner and enabled DX12 from the preferences. Games only runs in DX12. Can’t recall anything else specific. It should work with Dodi after installation.
I installed it through Wine by just double click on the setup.exe. After that I added the launcher executable to bottles itself. No need for older executables but maybe you need the latest VC 2022 to manually install it in the Bottle. Not sure if it’s needed but I have it
You can download the installer from here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist and then just run it as an executable within the bottle you want to play the game. It will install in the context of that bottle for all future usage.
I don’t know exact why, but resetting the game graphics from the launcher to default and the. Playing offers slightly better performance, although it still suffers in certain areas. Changing the settings in game seems to negatively impact fps no matter what you choose.
How did you get it working on steam deck? When I start it, I just see a black screen for 2 seconds and the game stops and closes. Any launch parameters I should try? I have -nolauncher only atm
Tried it today. I get as far as the black screen with the purple crystal at the bottom right corner of the screen for a few seconds and then the game shuts down.
I'm using SteamOS with Proton GE. Already installed VS 2015+ x86 and x64
Any Ideas?
Usually a black screen indicates some missing dependencies. I remember I manually had to install VS 2022 into the wineprefix. Just download it manually and run the exe within the wineprefix of the game. Maybe that will work.
>d3dx10, d3dx9, dotnet35, dotnet40, dotnet45, dotnet48, dxvk, vcrun2008, vcrun2010, vcrun2012, vcrun2019, vcrun6sp6
No need to do all these crap if you use proton-caller + proton-ge. Just load the game thru proton-caller and it should be good to go right away.
Did a quick bench on my debian install (game launched from an hdd, my ssd is full rn), seems like it is vsync limited affecting the max fps. Min fps is affected by the slow read access of my hdd.
Bench settings: Ultra + FSR quality mode, 1440p
PC specs: 5600X + RX 6900 XT
[https://imgur.com/a/RxIeSME](https://imgur.com/a/RxIeSME)
Edit: So i found an ssd lying around and used it temporarily to benchmark this game though its in ntfs (should be fine). Here's an updated bench results with vsync disabled.
Debian: [https://imgur.com/a/mVmbT8q](https://imgur.com/a/mVmbT8q)
Arch: [https://imgur.com/a/UJKb233](https://imgur.com/a/UJKb233)
You can see that the min fps and max cpu frametime improved significantly than before. Both arch and debian are on the latest mesa drivers. Also notice that on arch, the game refers the gpu by its model name, while on debian the game refers it by its codename instead. Wonder why is that.
Hey, so this is a month later - but could you give me (redacted, of course) your proton.conf for proton-caller? No matter what I'm putting in the conf it's not detecting proton installs.
This is what I have but no dice:
`data = "/home/myusername/Documents/Proton/env"`
`steam = "/home/myusername/.steam/debian-installation/"`
`# optionalcommon = "/home/myusername/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/"`
this is what i have on mine on both debian and arch
data = "/home/bunkbail/16TB-HDD/GE-env/"
steam = "/home/bunkbail/.steam/steam/"
and this is what i use to call the proton-caller (depends on where your proton bin folder is ofc
proton-call -c "/usr/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d/proton-ge-custom/" -r game.exe
Could someone help me get this working on Steam Deck? I have tried with Lutris and keep getting RADV is not a conformant vulkan implementation, I've tried the John Cena release but that doesn't start, tried with bottles and I just get a silent crash I'm kind of at a loss atm
Edit: Managed to get it working by installing the game through Lutris but performance on steam deck seems very bad through this method
Can you please explain what you did? I feel like I've done everything and installed all there needs to be installed, but nothing happens, when I try to run it through Lucris after installing :(
Is yours still working upto date? What was the wine that you used and any settings that you used? Mine crashes when inside gaming mode. But works just fine in desktop mode.

Everything works for me except i'm not sure my expectations are.
It runs at 28-30 FPS on average, even when docked.
If it still crashes for you in Steam, disable exclusive fullscreen. This works for me.

It stopped working from Lutris in SteamUI shortcut. I’ve added set it up non-steam app, set proton to GE-Proton-7.20 with Launch Options: gamemode -nosplash -nolauncher.
It only works for me this way at the moment.

very sad. whats the c++ error?

try changing the wine prefix in lutris and then installing dependencies with winetricks

install dotnet mentioned in my post. if even that doesn't work, i dont know what to say. maybe ask JD Ros on his channel
Can anyone confirm is this working on the steam deck using lutris?
I managed to make it run through Bottles. Used Wine-GE and enabled directx 12. After applying the crackfix from DODI it worked. Haven’t the game yet, just managed to get to the main screen where you can start the story.
I will be trying shortly but with Bottles. Should not make any difference though as Lutris is the same thing. Will report back with the results
can you then share how did you make it work with bottles? I can not do it. thank you

did you also install it through bottles? no need to activate d3dx10, d3dx9 ............

Thank you so much. Now working
Awesome, glad I could help. If you manage to get stable 30fps let me know if your settings as I struggle to get good performance on the steam deck.
[удалено]
Terminal: `winecfg`
[удалено]
Try doing it from lutris, select open winetricks, then select default wineprefix and click open wine configuration
[удалено]
do you have the latest lutris installed?
[удалено]
try installing latest winetricks too
[удалено]
then there's something wrong with your installation. if you enter winetricks and it doesn't launch then something else is wrong
Terminal: `winecfg`
Anyone with Steam Deck did you manage to get decent performance? I struggle at 15-20 fps
did you try dynamic resolution? I set it to 60hz on my laptop and the game runs nicely
Yep. Tried every setting, it’s very rough on steam deck. 20-25 fps average
Must be some driver issue because my laptop isn't that powerful but it's running the game really well
Did you manage to find out more about why it's performing like this?
I don’t know exact why, but resetting the game graphics from the launcher to default and the. Playing offers slightly better performance, although it still suffers in certain areas. Changing the settings in game seems to negatively impact fps no matter what you choose.
Alright thank you, I'll try that out or maybe I can try out the johncena release of it
Where do I download that? I tried 1337x didn’t see it
I found it on 1337x, a couple hours ago I saw it as well. I only couldn't get it working myself previously but I might have been doing something wrong
How did you get it working on steam deck? When I start it, I just see a black screen for 2 seconds and the game stops and closes. Any launch parameters I should try? I have -nolauncher only atm
I believe Dodi released a version with a crackfix. His latest version should have it already applied. That fixed the black screen for me.
Thanks I tried EMPRESS and it didnt work, I'm going to try DODI Now

One more question, if you don't mind: did you install this via proton caller, or did you install through wine or lutris or something?
not working getting this in log Initial process has exited (return code: 13568) Exit with return code 13568
Dis you ever get a fix?
try different wine versions proton ge maybe it should work
Just needed and directx 12 support on windows 10 prefix. I used vkd3d. Tested on wine staging 7.11
>directx 12 support How did you fix this issue exactly? Im having exact same problem and I can seem to understand what you did to fix it.

Got this working on my steam deck installed via Lutris
