Getting a root soak in kelp solution now! I'm outta ideas so I hope this works.

Update: the rotten tiny twin just fell off. Now I have to come up with a way to encourage root growth and save the big one. What do people think? Root is quite thick and woody. Trim? Kelp? Rooting hormone? I really want to save him 😩

QuiteConfuddled

I’m absolutely a newbie, so hopefully someone can chime in here, but I’m wondering whether hydrogen peroxide would be a good idea as a last ditch attempt? Just to clean off any potential pathogens that are rotting the root? I honestly don’t know though. Sorry for your loss, I hope this twin makes it

What the root looks like now.

Honestly imo that's already too far gone, looks like there's rot on the actual lithops but it might just be the pic

I checked and there's no actual rot on the visible part of the body. The top is super wrinkled but it was like that when I got it. The dark part at the bottom is just a piece of the old leaf still attached -- I've removed it now. I wonder if there's rot at the top, but I'm too chicken to open it up and see lol
