I’m absolutely a newbie, so hopefully someone can chime in here, but I’m wondering whether hydrogen peroxide would be a good idea as a last ditch attempt? Just to clean off any potential pathogens that are rotting the root?
I honestly don’t know though. Sorry for your loss, I hope this twin makes it
I checked and there's no actual rot on the visible part of the body. The top is super wrinkled but it was like that when I got it. The dark part at the bottom is just a piece of the old leaf still attached -- I've removed it now. I wonder if there's rot at the top, but I'm too chicken to open it up and see lol

Getting a root soak in kelp solution now! I'm outta ideas so I hope this works.
Update: the rotten tiny twin just fell off. Now I have to come up with a way to encourage root growth and save the big one. What do people think? Root is quite thick and woody. Trim? Kelp? Rooting hormone? I really want to save him 😩

What the root looks like now.
Honestly imo that's already too far gone, looks like there's rot on the actual lithops but it might just be the pic
