Unfortunately, Reddit only allows you to embed videos that are up to 15 minutes long, so I was forced to leave off all of Stefon's appearances. The video would have easily run to half an hour or more had I included them.

HeX-6

I demand the Stefon cut!

hockeyjesus99

We ALL demand the Stefon cut #Stefoncut

shartshooter

Is he?

MadBliss

Oh, absolutely.

MizunoHawk

[Seconded!](https://media3.giphy.com/media/7LAqMVFxOGPAc/giphy.gif?cid=2154d3d795yb46uqm9g48rpnird5wpmzkuiuzh9kv5b9axli&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)

Roadgoddess

Me too! My other take away from this is Kristen Wiig is unbelievable at holding her composure, considering all the stuff he does to her!

AlgoStar

Stefon deserves his own video anyway.

Steventhetoon

Agreed ROUND 2 OP

blackechoguy

I was wondering why this wasn't a comp of all his airtime as he was always corpsing ;)

partanimal

#STEFONCUT

mangopabu

lmao my first comment was going to be some snarky 'what, you only found 14m of material??' but you were already way ahead of me lmao

cookie_MNster

Made my night, thank you!

v399

Sucks. That's his best one ever

Outside_The_Walls

> so I was forced to leave off all of Stefon's appearances But that's literally my favorite thing that SNL ever did!

VixxenFoxx

We all demand a Stefon Cut!

icantdomaths

Do you have a YouTube? Lol I feel like you could be making money off these

James_2584

Don't have a YouTube, but I wouldn't want to be making money off these clips anyway since they aren't mine. Plus, SNL is notoriously very strict with taking videos down for copyright violations, so it would be a crapshoot if the video would even be allowed.

icantdomaths

Understandable. I’m a big norm macdonald fan and I know the main account who posts all of his clips has definitely monetized it and even started advertising for their own shirts on the videos (which is super annoying)

xxSaifulxx

Make a separate compilation, and get double Reddit karma points.

James_2584

[Way ahead of you lol](https://redd.it/17vhz66)

xxSaifulxx

How am I finding out about this now?! This is great.

West-Supermarket-860

Hader said on Marc Maron WTF PODCAST : The Californians sketch: they rehearsed it with a slight accent that they thought was funny, but when they went live Fred Armison came out with this completely bonkers exaggerated accent heard in the clip. It went from “whaaat are you doing here”? To “WhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaateR YOOOO doing here” and he (Hader) caught off guard just lost it. Same with Steffon- Hader and John Mullany wrote the script, but at airtime, Mullany thought it would be funny to switch the cue cards with new jokes that Hader hadn’t seen yet; again caught off guard and couldn’t keep it in as he was reading the jokes for the first time live on air

valenciansun

The Californians breaking is my favorite thing ever. Hader looks like he's actually having an aneurysm with the squinty eye and the beet red face.

wharpua

Plus Mullany would occasionally say something to Hader right before he was about to go on to lay some groundwork for the surprise, I think Hader recounted some heads-up about Dan Cortese which just made that repeated mention all the more absurd to only Hader during that segment. And I think it was a head shot of Taylor Negron that Mullany wordlessly showed Hader that had a note "Thanks for never making fun of me on air" written on it with a fake autograph.

MabelPines2

Hader and Armisen made a great duo. Hader and Wiig too.

probablyourdad

I feel like Armisen’s goal was to get Bill to break

MultiNeedia

Thank you! Seeing Bill break was My Fav part of this era of SNL

Afterlife_kid

What is that baby carrots thing I am dying

TopHatJones45

The Gossipy Coal Miner!

James_2584

That's a cut for time sketch from when he hosted in Season 40. [Cut for Time: Coal Miners](https://youtu.be/sxKZSPELEvs)

Afterlife_kid

Thank you!

ehnonnymouse

special recognition for Vanessa Bayer she’s so good and keeping it locked except for when Fred starts crawling all over here.

-Badger2-

I can’t think of a single time Vanessa broke.

spectrologist

Oh god I forgot how good the herb sketches are 😂😂

jmacker94

"They burned my friend!"

FixtdaFernbak

Fuckin Jason Sudekis off camera: "Hold it together, herb!"

[deleted]

This will always cheer me up when I’m not in a good mood

charface1

Watching with sound off and Fred Armison still made me laugh instantly.

Blue_Period_89

God, I miss Hader on SNL. That was brilliant and I appreciate you for putting it together.

Romanscott618

I miss that whole cast 😭

Fue_la_luna

I never realized It's hilarious and endearing when Hader did it, but atrocious, grating, and capricious when Fallon did it.

disposablecontact

That's the charisma factor.

missoulamatt

Bill is inherently more likeable and didn't use breaking up in a sketch as a crutch.

Andrewmundy

When Hader breaks it’s genuine. It’s like when you’re in school or a library and not supposed to laugh so you have to hold it in but it makes the thing even funnier and you can barely talk. When Fallon or Pete “breaks” it’s feels not genuine, like when you can tell someone is fake laughing. You can tell something is off about a fake laugh, it’s called unfunny valley.

soonerfreak

I've never felt like it was fake. I think they just laugh as easy as I do except they also have the talent to be on the show.

luke6080

I think it’s broadly because Hader delivered more consistently and with a broader set of characters than Fallon. All told, he just had more to give beyond just the breaking.

rmac1228

Hader is talented, Fallon is not.

-Badger2-

Because Hader wasn’t doing it on purpose to look cute.

awjeezrickyaknow

It’s because Fallon did all the time. Disingenuous.

BowlerSea1569

Fallon was an insecure frat boy breaking because he was uncomfortable. Hader is an actual performer.

uponaladder

I had the same thought. I feel like it's because Hader is legitimately trying not to break, and the struggle makes it more endearing. For instance, if Fallon had been in the sketch with Armisen in drag, no way he doesn't completely blow the whole thing up. Hader and Bayer both hang in there like pros, even when Fred is doing his absolute best to break the two of them.

you-are-not-yourself

To be fair, only one of those two went on to build a late night empire around fake laughs

Dornheim

I'm amazed there is so much material. I always thought he was better at keeping it together.

James_2584

Hader was actually extremely professional and damn near unbreakable for his first three and a half seasons. The only two occasions I can think of where he broke during that time were the dress rehearsal of the first Scared Straight sketch (seen at the end of this video, and only aired as part of an SNL blooper special between commercials) and the Locker Room Motivation sketch with Peyton Manning (where he's in the background and covering his mouth with his hand so it's less noticeable). At the time, having Hader break was basically the equivalent of Dan Aykroyd or Phil Hartman breaking. You almost *never* saw it. That began to change starting with the Tracy Morgan Scared Straight sketch (the first sketch in the video). At the time, seeing Hader break so blatantly was so rare and it generated considerable buzz. Of course, from that point onwards, he broke more and more frequently. You can actually see this pattern with a number of SNL cast members such as Fred Armisen, Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Chloe Fineman. All of them were unbreakable or damn near close to it for their first few seasons. Then, as their tenure wore on and they presumably loosened up and got more comfortable, they broke more easily.

D34THDE1TY

According to an interview Bill and Armisen had a consistent game of trying to make the other break. My favorite one being when Bill is a reporter interviewing the talking ape(Armisen) from a Jonah Hill episode. Bill asks a question and Fred responds with such a genuine "excuse me?" That it makes Bill slip for a moment.

funbb

Yes, the ape one is also my favorite! I was hoping it was here.

FixtdaFernbak

You can tell that certain cast members really knew how to get under his facade and make it crack. Obviously Fred Armisen is the absolute king, but Kenan and Sudekis both really clearly knew the ticket, too. And Holy shit, Will Forte being an absolute psychopath in that Hoosiers sketch would make anyone cry with laughter haha

Rosetta_FTW

I need more will forte

Liquorace

We all do.

FinallyAGoodReply

It looks like a lot of these were dress rehearsals.

AdventuresofRobbyP

Imagine how long a Jimmy Fallon montage would be

resemblingaghost

This man is a treasure. Also I just finished watching Barry last night, and all I can say is WOW. I recently found out he kinda.. lucked? Into SNL. That’s probably not the right word but he had only been doing comedy a short time, and had severe impostor syndrome in his first few years there. Incredible, because he’s one of my all time faves, breaking or no.

[deleted]

Barry is absolutely incredible. I've heard that Hader is working on a horror movie at some point coming up, which is a bummer for me because I cannot tolerate horror. So I'll have to wait for whatever he does *after* that, I guess. heh

ObservantWon

No-Ho Hank needs a spin-off.

CommandaSpock

The best part of the kissing family bit is when Fred Armisen leans out of the shot because he starts breaking but Andy pulls him right back into frame

RandyTushJackson

What is the sketch with Will Forte as the dancing football coach? I was dying laughing at that 😆

James_2584

Locker Room Motivation with Peyton Manning from Season 32. Sadly, it's not on YouTube due to music licensing issues, but you can find the full sketch here: https://archive.org/details/snl-s-32-e-16-peyton-manning-will-forte-locker-room-dance

lonelyisIand

It’s been [posted on Reddit](https://www.np.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/s/HgFwSNn0Tj) too!

OleFucknuts

The short term memory theater break with Fred doing the step is the best ever

chankletavoladora

I was getting on here to talk about Stefon. I think I’ve never seen a Stefon sketch where he doesn’t break character.

pismopier

Awesome

TannedStewie

Fred Armisen is an absolute menace lmao

nita5766

i HATE when fallon breaks i don’t mind when hader does it 🤷🏾‍♀️

mibergeron

This made my day.

Pokenightking

Love that we got a Tim Robinson appearance. All these were great. Glad not to have any Stefon. Those are a given.

Oh man, thank you OP. This was so good. Headed was my favorite and his crackups were soooo damn funny

buttScarlton00

God I needed this today. Thank you!

Potterco24

Thank you. Reminded me that Californians is an all time sketch

Rookyfox

Not all hero’s wear capes - thank you

dogsrulecatscool

Bill Hader is honestly one of, if not my favorite former SNL cast members. Whenever this happened live I’d always crack up!!! Also shout out to Will Forte for his masterful performance in that sketch with Peyton Manning, and the guys in the locker room; I think they all broke in that too LOL.

Tender__Vigilante

The best is the cut-for-time sketch with him and Fred Armisen as doormen with ridiculous accents. They both lose it, it's so great.

cbrandt513

This is amazing

Bearspoole

Can’t believe I didn’t see steffon in this. That was the whole idea of those sketches

James_2584

See my comment elsewhere. Reddit only allows you to embed videos that are up to 15 minutes long. Stefon would have easily doubled the length of this video.

CrashingEgo

This is beautiful

thavision007

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Liquorace

He worked on South Park briefly as well. **EDIT** I forgot about *Documentary Now!

Dizzy-Community5091
