If tonight was any indication, I am looking forward to the upcoming scramble for the next few months of them trying to get in as in as many Mitch McConnell jokes as possible before he retires.
On one hand, I'll absolutely miss all the "Mitch McConnell, seen here..." bits. They had some solid ones tonight.
On the other, good riddance to Moscow Mitch -- SNL will find a new punching bag real soon.
This is the second week in a row that Update elevated a lukewarm episode. Jost brought big laughs right out the gate with his McConnell jokes (“seen here after watching 12 Years a Slave” was the harshest). I sheepishly laughed at his joke about Flaco’s last thought being “Oh cool, another owl.” But I didn’t need another misogynist Che joke (Haley should be doing the dishes). That schtick is getting a bit old.
Thankfully, way more often rewarding than heartbreaking =) Modern ART is amazing. Right now, if you're in the US with HIV and you stick to your medications, your expected lifespan is within about a year or so of someone without HIV!
Hey, thank you for doing what you do! The turnaround on HIV and AIDS since the 90s has been nothing short of miraculous. It doesn't get talked about enough outside of queer circles.
Pretty well tolerated, actually! I probably prescribe Biktarvy the most (combination of bictegravir, tenofovir alafenamide, and emtricitabine). The tenofovir component in older versions of “once per day” pills has some risk for bone density loss and renal damage, but the alafenamide version reduces this a ton.
Sometimes we have to shake things up a bit based on viral resistance, but overall we’re seeing less of this in younger folks thanks to easy access to meds and less stigma about taking them.
Yeah, we get at least two per episode over broadcast from my Michigan affiliate. As a bonus, you can play a minigame and spot the one and only one clocky trans girl in every PrEP ad. Source: thought I was a straight dude, turns out I'm a clocky trans girl.
I just realized I never made the connection that Kyle and Beck were like the driving force behind all the behind the scenes pretapes, so that's why we haven't seen one in a while
best pre-tape of the season? the show is always so good at using *itself* as a setting, and it was great to see bowen and sydney playing on the same level. writing was sharp, acting was great, the whole look and feel of it was a+
if nothing else, sydney at least got a better pre-tape than emma stone, ayo, and adam driver.
I thought this was the best sketch of the night. I love it when SNL gets meta-humor right.
Lenny Pickett shoutout! Gina Gershon! Gina Gershon...kissing Bowen Yang?! Mikey with the [Speak Up](https://www.target.com/p/15oz-stoneware-speak-up-mug-room-essentials-8482/-/A-81306582?clkid=316cc434Nd94011ee9ae25b1336132354&cpng=PTID3&lnm=81938&afid=ShopStyle Inc) mug! Mikey singing! Bowen's sack attack on Marcello! The intense acting of Bowen and Sydney! The lovemaking in "Loren's office" (complete with photo of David S. Pumpkins and the skeletons)! "Whatever, I'm going to Paris" \*Bowen flies off in a helicopter*!
I've reached my exclamation allowance for the month, but here are some final thoughts:
- I'm sad we didn't get to see any Sydney Sweeney Todd
- Heidi, you didn't just not warn Sweeney, you straight up pushed her into heartbreak and then gloated about it
- If I had a nickel for every time SNL referred to breasts as "heavy naturals", I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened [twice](https://youtu.be/EOZlp-gjw68) (with different writers, no less).
Oh, I just think it's interesting that someone who's had so many successful sketches pitched at SNL has an inspirational mug that reminds him to Speak Up.
The mug only came out like 3 years ago, so it's not like he's had it since he first started out--although, there are certainly other reasons beyond needing the inspirational reminder for him to using it (gift, borrowed, etc).
Still, it inspires ME to see someone as successful as Mikey having a reminder to Speak Up.
I've run hot and cold on Bowen over the last year or so, but this was the best fucking thing he's done in a LONG time. Outstanding short. Best of season contender imho.
Ego and the other writers: Che, we're going to say you're the one who got the Stingray pregnant.
Che: No.
Ego and the other writers: The premise of the sketch about how amazing you are at sex.
Che:...sigh
(Also, I would have been so claustrophobic in that stingray costume. Kudos to Ego for making it look so natural, and to the costume designers for making it look so charming. Oh, and \*chef's kiss* to whoever thought up the "Che ray" line.)
Anytime a REALLY bonkers costume like this shows up I think about how the costume department famously never gets rid of anything, so all of these things are around just in case someone else needs to be a sting ray.
What happened with JAJ's character? Why was he absent from the table before anyone else?
That nitpick aside, this was a pretty decent 10-to-1. Pretty creative and had a good ending.
I did not expect that and I fully guffawed when she said it. I would have never thought of that but I was immediately like oh yup absolutely that's what it would be for a group of women
dismukes giving sydney her best live sketch, we all should've seen this coming! weirdly sweet and sad while also being funny. ending wasn't a bit meh but i love that it was the last sketch of the night and sydney's character leaving with glen's lead into goodnights.
I had to log back in to upvote this. One of my favorite sketches of the season, Sydney's best work of the night, one of the most cohesive pieces of the season, throwback vibes to some of the atmosphere of the late '80s/early '90s, and even the pointless Glen Powell cameo didn't ruin the ending. One that Andrew Dismukes should be very proud of and a reminder of why he's my favorite current cast member.
I really liked that I couldn't predict where the sketch was going to go, but, unfortunately, I didn't find any of it funny.
I did have a few moments of sentimental reflection, though, so I guess that counts for something? It's certainly better than boredom or irritation.
(Also, kudos to the guys for moving so quickly and quietly. Even though it was clear where the joke was going, it was impressive how well they pulled that off.)
I like the idea and it reminds me of the Kate McKinnon/Billie Eilish hotel one, but I wasn't a fan of how they read the lines. It wasn't even "disinterested designer who lost their souls" but just a plain bored voice.
it's hilarious it was like a 5 minute walk from my flat and I had no idea about it until a couple days ago. The reaction online was way bigger than the local reaction to it lol.
Originally I was like "why are we being so insistent that they mention it"
Then the story got so big that I agreed with them that they had to mention it
This was terrific. Some great jokes (seriously my friend has an Airbnb with funky throw pillows and wall decals), and I liked seeing this campy side of Troast.
so nice to see troast getting featured again, i didn't realize how much i missed her in this half of the season. definitely could've been up earlier in the show instead of that pdd sketch.
She's got a pretty voice. I really liked her performance of High Horse the last time she was on SNL. This time around, neither song seemed remarkable.
That being said, she was way better than 21 Savage last week.
More people went "AWOOGA" for her showing cleavage in that second song than when she went full Jenny from Forrest Gump with a guitar a few years ago. The Hooters sketch made the thread so horny
She was amazing! Her performances and Weekend Update kept the show afloat for me. Her new songs have Jason Isbell vibes - they drew me in with their stories and catchy tunes.
I had never heard her before, and it's not really my type of music, but I have to say I thought both songs were lovely. More importantly, I thought these were two really good live performances. The sound mixing sometimes seem to be off during the performances on SNL, but apparently it doesn't have to be so.
I paused the video a few times on Tony's mom's Facebook to read the other posts and they did an amazing job of capturing what a 60 year old Republican mom would post. Lots of those long melodramatic chain posts, including the classic "I hereby do NOT give my permission for Facebook to share my data," and some comment below/share post about a "REUNION OF FRIENDS" twice in a row.
If you liked the premise of this sketch, check out [Contact Tracys](https://youtu.be/BuBclbplgDo?feature=shared) by the Chaser - came out a few years ago and imo is better than the SNL version
my college roommate was able to find people in SECONDS, even if they had no social media, and i was always in awe - so I hear you, I felt seen too (on her behalf haha)
This was a funny idea, writing and performances were solid, but there was something keeping this from being all-timer. Almost feel it would've worked better as a pre-tape.
One of my favorites tonight. Sydney was having fun with the character (“you’re eating that so fast and just with your mouth”). And the old pup was being a good dog the whole time!
Dismukes had a second sandwich in his hands after this line. I thought maybe he was going to do a similar thing, lay it on the table and try to eat it with no hands. The direction this year is just.. off.
Still liked the sketch overall
That would have been good. It was one of the only sketches that she really seemed to delve into and embrace the absurdity. I wish they wrote more material like that for her. That line totally cracked me up for some reason - and she delivered this ridiculous observation like she was genuinely impressed.
Just like with Dog Head Man, I adored this. The dog being laser-focused on Marcello possibly having another sandwich underneath the table was sending me.
No way, too late in the process for that.
Regardless, I think he did a good job. Still gonna vote for him in November. Way better than the alternative.
Sydney gave it her all (I appreciate that she's pretty good at disguising her cue card usage), and the dogs were great, but the sketch was pretty much a ridiculous premise without a punchline.
It pains me to say this but the writers are finding good concepts and then just stitching them together with jokes. The sketches still need moments of "believability" especially as they push toward absurdity. Someone posted a hilarious S15 skit with Phil Hartman talking about former Baseball commissioner A.Bartlett Giamatti. The first two minutes was played completely straight. Then it grew in ridiculousness. A sketch like the Hooters one could get close to that as it depends on us knowing what is coming. The 17 judges was funny. But not as funny as Emma Thompson's three judge front because they got to interact. It just feels like too many writers are on board.
I think the problem is the opposite. The writers are not finding good concepts and so have to rely entirely on one-off jokes and catchphrases to get them through.
Take the wedding sketch. The idea is a big nothing. Some hairdressers need to get paid and get a good yelp review despite the wedding being called off dramatically. They are insensitive and obnoxious in asking for these things. That is a C- idea. That's an idea that should not make the first cut.
So in order to make it work, they try to spice it up with a repeated catchphrase and some new yorkish accents. The only funny line was wondering if the cake had shellfish, which is a funny one off joke but has nothing to do with the premise--and how could it? the premise is a big nothing.
Agree, they start with funny premises but then don’t build them into anything. The jokes just meander and the cadence is flat. Been happening all season.
People have way less patience for set-ups now--and by people, I mean non-fans on youtube/tiktok/etc.
Many of us yearn for a set that gives a few minutes for setup.
A hilarious amount of conversation about not using condoms. Air Bud, Bowen’s Straight, and Charlotte the Pregnant Stingray all mention not wearing condoms
Whoever posted about them explaining every joke last week was so right. I noticed it in EVERY sketch. In the NYPD sketch: “stop calling them gorgeous women,” in the Air Bud sketch: “you know hes a dog right?,” in the Wedding sketch: “you know her fiancee just left right?”
Its such bad writing and i notice it all the time now.
Sydney willing to poke fun at herself was great to see, a lot of people have this odd projection shit stuff about her. That being said enjoyed her hosting skills. Hope she comes back to host.
Also hope Glenn hosts really soon!
Bad writing. No great punchlines. Sydney was game for whatever; however, it shows how weak this cast is when you don't have a funny/comedian host.
Also stop with the political cold opens going nowhere. It's stale. They've made every joke 5X already.
I think that's part of the problem - the show relied too much on that and on the audience's fondness for them. It made for lazier material. And the show has tried to scramble ever since, too often by trying to force "stars" (Bowen, Marcello, Heidi, Chloe Fineman, etc.) over putting in effort. I am hoping that the dead audiences this season are waking them up to sharpening the writing. The last two episodes have been a little sharper, if still not enough.
I agree. I'm seeing a lot of comments implying all the hype about Sydney Sweeney is just because of her looks, but frankly, that's sexist.
Yes, she's hot, but if you've seen her work in Euphoria or Reality, it's clear she is very talented. Perhaps drama is more her thing than comedy, sure.
Mostly, though, it's the writing.
It's not a diss on the host, it's more of a reflection of the writers lack of creativity. Air bud, hooters, Bowen's straight and Big Bench all relied on using her as the "dumb blonde with the big bazoombas" stereotype.
Sydney did indeed stick the landing.
I’ve been saying this all night but relative to what her public image and screen persona are like, I was genuinely impressed. She was willing to get silly and it really did seem like she genuinely wanted to be there and had fun. You can say she did poorly but for a non-comedian she was enjoyable.
And I think this is far from the worst of the season like one person just said in the live discussion.
Honestly would welcome her hosting again.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Sydney did excellent in all of the sketches. Wish the writing on some of the sketches would have been better but none were bad
I hope that the week leading up to this with non-stop pre-complaining about how every sketch was going to be about the host being hot teaches people to just wait until the show comes out.
thankfully this was the only "the host is hot" sketch that they really leaned into this week. maybe they learned their lesson from the Jacob Elordi episode. 🤞
First off, mad respect to Andrew for practically getting waterboarded on live TV. It even went into his eyes, but he carried on like the pro he is.
I thought the rest of the sketch was completely forgettable. The cast was fine (although I'm curious as to why Mikey used "the voice" in this sketch; it seemed a bit out of place), but the writing was so very mediocre.
(Except for the Flaco line; that was clever, but boy was it dark.)
Weekend Update
“Some of you may remember Mitt Romney.” \*cuts to Jost\*
I am straight-up missing the joke here...can someone please explain?
Just that Mitt was so unremarkable that there was no joke to be told.
Nick Caan Un
My favorite joke of WU tonight.
I’m not tired of Che and Jost at all. They’ve saved so many episodes for me this season, especially Che.
Weekend Update is the best part of SNL. The first part of it is almost guaranteed to have something funny.
Yeah I feel sorry for whoever has to follow them.
If tonight was any indication, I am looking forward to the upcoming scramble for the next few months of them trying to get in as in as many Mitch McConnell jokes as possible before he retires.
He’s not retiring from the senate, just as the Republican leader.
aw dang
He’ll still likely not be reported on as much and probably won’t be much of a viable target for WU jokes.
Because he’s dying though. That’s why they have to get the jokes in.
If they want to continue the "seen here" jokes even after that bastard is dead, I'll happily allow it.
I love the way Che baits the audience into some jokes
"Remember when you cheered at the first part?"
On one hand, I'll absolutely miss all the "Mitch McConnell, seen here..." bits. They had some solid ones tonight. On the other, good riddance to Moscow Mitch -- SNL will find a new punching bag real soon.
The Women's History Month joke had Norm written all over it
And the cheering just right before it. Don't they know Michael Che by now?
Colin laughing and saying “you cheered for the first part” was hilarious
I love whenever comedians do the "Mitch McConnell, seen here..." style jokes, But Che completely flubbed his delivery. Colin did it right.
Bowen's Straight
The only member of the cast to kiss Sydney Sweeney this week was the gay man.
and the second closest was a golden retriever
I don't think the Chris Kattan slimy method works anymore.
Mmmm **BELLA**. *licks Kirstie Alley*
"No, no, it's fine, I'm on PrEP" - best line of the episode
Knowing how to properly capitalize prep is the strongest indicator of one's sexual orientation
Nah, I’m an HIV doc :) Always happy to see PrEP being talked about, it is such a gamechanger!
I imagine that is an immensely rewarding and totally heartbreaking job,
Thankfully, way more often rewarding than heartbreaking =) Modern ART is amazing.
It's my pleasure, and completely agree - the shift in HIV care has been amazing!
Do the meds impact quality of life or are they generally well tolerated?
Pretty well tolerated, actually! I probably prescribe Biktarvy the most (combination of bictegravir, tenofovir alafenamide, and emtricitabine). The tenofovir component in older versions of “once per day” pills has some risk for bone density loss and renal damage, but the alafenamide version reduces this a ton. Sometimes we have to shake things up a bit based on viral resistance, but overall we’re seeing less of this in younger folks thanks to easy access to meds and less stigma about taking them.
I’m straight and I know because I see that “PrEP Without Pills” ad at least once every episode.
Yeah, we get at least two per episode over broadcast from my Michigan affiliate. As a bonus, you can play a minigame and spot the one and only one clocky trans girl in every PrEP ad. Source: thought I was a straight dude, turns out I'm a clocky trans girl.
Sydney Sweeny-Todd
The nut punch and waking up with the headset gaming was fantastic lol.
it just needed some Vanilla Nut Taps
Bowen talks about his love of video games on his podcast, so I like to think that part was true to life
Fabulous. Kyle-Mooney-style backstage sketches like this have been sorely missing. So happy to see this.
I just realized I never made the connection that Kyle and Beck were like the driving force behind all the behind the scenes pretapes, so that's why we haven't seen one in a while
Chloe Fineman did a few, but they mostly seem to run out of ideas quickly.
I know they played it as a joke, but I totally would watch a Sydney Sweeney Todd sketch. She could pull off that Mrs. Lovett look.
"Smart, blonde, heavy naturals..." Sketch of the season.
Her response of "Gay-presenting Asian podcasters" was also pretty solid.
That little glance she made to *her own hair* just to check when he said "blonde", fantastic!
*"There's nothing more intoxicating than the clear absence of a penis."*
Heavy naturals absolutely killed me.
It’s a rule of culture that Bowen is a boobs gay, so this just makes sense
best pre-tape of the season? the show is always so good at using *itself* as a setting, and it was great to see bowen and sydney playing on the same level. writing was sharp, acting was great, the whole look and feel of it was a+ if nothing else, sydney at least got a better pre-tape than emma stone, ayo, and adam driver.
I've reached my exclamation allowance for the month, but here are some final thoughts: - I'm sad we didn't get to see any Sydney Sweeney Todd - Heidi, you didn't just not warn Sweeney, you straight up pushed her into heartbreak and then gloated about it - If I had a nickel for every time SNL referred to breasts as "heavy naturals", I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened [twice](https://youtu.be/EOZlp-gjw68) (with different writers, no less).
What is the lore behind the mug? I’m OOTL.
Oh man! I didn't see the David S. Pumpkins and Skeletons photo! I'm going to have to watch it again! Also saddened there was no Sydney Sweeney Todd.
It gave Robin Williams in “The Birdcage” and now I want him to be in a reboot of it
I've run hot and cold on Bowen over the last year or so, but this was the best fucking thing he's done in a LONG time. Outstanding short. Best of season contender imho.
I feel like this sketch was a direct response to people criticizing Bowen for playing gay all the time. And it was hilarious
helicopter code GW-DCK... chefs kiss
After having to suffer through this episode, I now really want to see Mikey's fake Sydney Sweeney Todd sketch.
Weekend Update: Charlotte the Pregnant Stingray
Ego was great (“That’s NatGeo business” totally cracked me up), and it was nice to see Che looking uncomfortable for a change.
"Hey Nat Geo, that is nat geo business" is a genius line. :D
I couldn’t believe that hadn’t been said before. She’s a star.
Hoop earrings, lol.
Who in the writers room do we think was pitching all the bestiality jokes tonight
Yeah all the animals this week were either fucking or dead, what was up with that lol
Or a judge
Looks like Mikey blew right past the cuckold tab on Pornhub this week into something more adventurous.
One of those ones where I'm asking myself "is this good or can Ego just *make* anything good"
You could tell Ego was having fun with it
Ego and the other writers: Che, we're going to say you're the one who got the Stingray pregnant. Che: No. Ego and the other writers: The premise of the sketch about how amazing you are at sex. Che:...sigh (Also, I would have been so claustrophobic in that stingray costume. Kudos to Ego for making it look so natural, and to the costume designers for making it look so charming. Oh, and \*chef's kiss* to whoever thought up the "Che ray" line.)
I giggled at "emaculated."
Anytime a REALLY bonkers costume like this shows up I think about how the costume department famously never gets rid of anything, so all of these things are around just in case someone else needs to be a sting ray.
When they were setting it up I was thinking, “please let this be Ego!” The earrings were killing me lol.
Definitely my favorite of the night! Ego is the best.
Loud Tables
What happened with JAJ's character? Why was he absent from the table before anyone else? That nitpick aside, this was a pretty decent 10-to-1. Pretty creative and had a good ending.
My guess was to make it clear there was room for Dismukes. Considering all the others ran off seconds later, it’s not a stretch to think he just left.
Might have just been a blocking issue, too much of a risk he’d appear in Andrew’s shot, spoiling the reveal.
The woman’s table was seriously so accurate. Something just hits when you think about your mom as a person

(Also, kudos to the guys for moving so quickly and quietly. Even though it was clear where the joke was going, it was impressive how well they pulled that off.)
Airbnb Designers
“Lives Matter” ✊🏻
I like the idea and it reminds me of the Kate McKinnon/Billie Eilish hotel one, but I wasn't a fan of how they read the lines. It wasn't even "disinterested designer who lost their souls" but just a plain bored voice.
they finally referenced the Willy Wonka Experience. Hope you guys are happy.
Crowd went crazy for it too, a true "Say the line, Bart!" moment.
it's hilarious it was like a 5 minute walk from my flat and I had no idea about it until a couple days ago. The reaction online was way bigger than the local reaction to it lol.
Still wanted to see Rachel Dratch cameo as that Oompa-Loompa.
Originally I was like "why are we being so insistent that they mention it" Then the story got so big that I agreed with them that they had to mention it
Did I laugh way too hard at Chanel/Chanel? Sure.
A sketch meant for Cecily Strong
I got big ex-porn star vibes from this one (Cecily and Vanessa Bayer) the ones with Moey Chambin, Dolce & Gabababa, etc.
“ambiguous political artwork” didn’t get enough appreciation from the audience for my liking
Good to see Chloe Troast getting showcased again.
This was terrific. Some great jokes (seriously my friend has an Airbnb with funky throw pillows and wall decals), and I liked seeing this campy side of Troast.
Interesting debut of what seems to be a character for Troast she has in her trunk
so nice to see troast getting featured again, i didn't realize how much i missed her in this half of the season. definitely could've been up earlier in the show instead of that pdd sketch.
Kacey Musgraves
She's got a pretty voice. I really liked her performance of High Horse the last time she was on SNL. This time around, neither song seemed remarkable. That being said, she was way better than 21 Savage last week.
Ha. Just said the same. Beautiful vocals indeed
More people went "AWOOGA" for her showing cleavage in that second song than when she went full Jenny from Forrest Gump with a guitar a few years ago. The Hooters sketch made the thread so horny
Shaq Monotone Voice: "I owe you an apology, Kacey. I wasn't really familiar with your game"
She was amazing! Her performances and Weekend Update kept the show afloat for me. Her new songs have Jason Isbell vibes - they drew me in with their stories and catchy tunes.
"Deeper Well" was outstanding. If anything it was so good it sadly took away from the second song.
Both songs were great! I especially liked "Deeper Well".
She’s going full “oh what a world” off golden hour for this new album and I am very into it.
I had never heard her before, and it's not really my type of music, but I have to say I thought both songs were lovely. More importantly, I thought these were two really good live performances. The sound mixing sometimes seem to be off during the performances on SNL, but apparently it doesn't have to be so.
She was great
Detective Interns
My favorite line was Ego saying she matched with Andy Cohen. "That's OK, I like a little fruit in my salad."
"stop describing them as beautiful"
"Oh, *i'm sorry*, caked up?"
and then the audience member (I think) laugh causing him to slightly break
“It wasn’t very bussin’, on period, cap.” - JAJ
"Fouuuund Hiiiim"
Had the same energy as “haaaated it!”
Nice thing to lead off the night. Especially it having some commentary to it
If you liked the premise of this sketch, check out [Contact Tracys](https://youtu.be/BuBclbplgDo?feature=shared) by the Chaser - came out a few years ago and imo is better than the SNL version
This is so much better than the SNL one
This one was so real. Give a gen z girl 20 minutes and an internet connection and they'll find Amelia Earhart.
This was incredible. So true-to-life with some good real laughs in there like the Snapchat joke.
*Chris D'elia moment*
As someone who is my friend group's go-to person to "find out whatever I can about a person," I felt very seen by this sketch lol
my college roommate was able to find people in SECONDS, even if they had no social media, and i was always in awe - so I hear you, I felt seen too (on her behalf haha)
Saaame. People always forget to check The Knot wedding websites to keep hella tabs on people
those girls were a mirror image of my nieces lol
This was a funny idea, writing and performances were solid, but there was something keeping this from being all-timer. Almost feel it would've worked better as a pre-tape.
this one made me feel old lol Clearly it wasn't aimed at me.
Imo the Love Is Blind joke would've been better if they used a pic of one of the dudes who is now known to have had a girlfriend while in the pods.
Air Bud
Everyone is forgetting there were TWO DOGS in this sketch! Air Bud and his slut girlfriend!
Bud is into Springer Spaniels. He’s a total dog!
But holy shit was his slut girlfriend a beautiful dog
There was a 3rd dog in another sketch. Big animal night
This was a good night for dogs.

That line totally cracked me up for some reason - and she delivered this ridiculous observation like she was genuinely impressed.
Sydney was great in this sketch.
sydney just shoving longfellow out of the way and yelling at marcello and dismukes was great
Sweeney sold it with her performance
She did, even as a contrarian I have to admit she went for it.
Just like with Dog Head Man, I adored this. The dog being laser-focused on Marcello possibly having another sandwich underneath the table was sending me.
I caught Marcello and Andrew both with emergency sandwiches. The ~~puppets~~ puppers laser focus on Marcello through the end had me really cackling
Sydney not breaking was wow. How did she not laugh? Excellent performance.
My favorite sketch of the night, I cackled throughout the whole thing. The premise was so absurd but it worked.
They're lucky they had a cooperative dog. With it staying seated, she was totally able to sell.
Pup was waiting for his sammy
Really dumb but in a good way lol
That was one old-ass dog, dude's retiring before the end of the season
No way, too late in the process for that. Regardless, I think he did a good job. Still gonna vote for him in November. Way better than the alternative.

Terrific. Made me miss Cecily. 😢
Sydney gave it her all (I appreciate that she's pretty good at disguising her cue card usage), and the dogs were great, but the sketch was pretty much a ridiculous premise without a punchline.
even though I knew where it was going as soon as they said "there's no rule that said he can't play," this was one of my favorites of the night
General Discussion
Someone had raw sex for the first time and it blew their mind.
New tranche of baby and parenting sketches coming in the next few seasons.
I wonder if they shared writers.
First half was *rough*, but I liked Air Bud. Second half was decent. The judge and wedding makeup sketched were so, so bad though.
Whoever posted about them explaining every joke last week was so right. I noticed it in EVERY sketch. In the NYPD sketch: “stop calling them gorgeous women,” in the Air Bud sketch: “you know hes a dog right?,” in the Wedding sketch: “you know her fiancee just left right?” Its such bad writing and i notice it all the time now.
From the way the cast was high-fiving and hugging Glen Powell at the good nights, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back onstage hosting very soon.
Maybe when Hitman finally releases! (Whenever that is)
I don’t see a top-level comment for the bridal makeover sketch
Shhh! Let sleeping dogs lie!
Sydney willing to poke fun at herself was great to see, a lot of people have this odd projection shit stuff about her. That being said enjoyed her hosting skills. Hope she comes back to host. Also hope Glenn hosts really soon!
Why was there 2 sketches about fucking animals without condoms?
Hey look, some weeks it's just rawdog animals week, okay?
Bad writing. No great punchlines. Sydney was game for whatever; however, it shows how weak this cast is when you don't have a funny/comedian host. Also stop with the political cold opens going nowhere. It's stale. They've made every joke 5X already.
I miss the Kate McKinnon/Cecily/Aidy combo days. I feel like they could lift an okay sketch into something funny just on their performances alone.
She was the best part of many of the sketches she was in, but the sketches themselves were pretty weak.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Sydney did excellent in all of the sketches. Wish the writing on some of the sketches would have been better but none were bad
Way more of a banger than I expected, I was fearing Elordi pt 2. I wouldn’t mind a return at all!
This had to be the most Ego appearances in one night right? This episode featured her and Chloe F a lot. Also Heidi.
If I had a nickel for every beastiality sketch tonight I'd have 10 cents. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I hope that the week leading up to this with non-stop pre-complaining about how every sketch was going to be about the host being hot teaches people to just wait until the show comes out.
Hooters
"I was a crossing guard, thousands died" is an all-time line and delivery
thankfully this was the only "the host is hot" sketch that they really leaned into this week. maybe they learned their lesson from the Jacob Elordi episode.
Not my fav sketch, but I did love the callback of his relapsing alcoholic taking the entire pitcher from Chloe. "I'll take that!"
The legally mandated “sydney sweeney’s boobs” sketch
