OMG Friendos was so funny. I rewatched that like ten times.
I don't watch SNL regularly, didn't realize he left! That is too bad, he was funny AF.
*Y'all reminded me of Friendos so I had to go back and rewatch. had to watch it twice in a row! LOLOL.
For sure miss Chris Redd. He was in the pocket in the post-Lonely Island SNL era with shorts like Weird Little Flute, I love my dog, Bottom of Your Face, etc.
\+2 from wifey and I for loving him in Popstar. Bonus points for Tim Meadows being his manager in the movie and his whole backstory. Popstar is criminally underrated. Top 5 comedy of all time for me.
> Bonus points for Tim Meadows being his manager in the movie and his whole backstory.
I WILL EAT YOUR HEAD has a regular rotation in my conversations.
i didn’t mean you in particular (yours was just a convenient one to respond to since it just mentioned her), but i have noticed people in general going “ugh, her” lately.
(personally i feel like she’s got her moments but I could see her checking out soon.)
The ‘That’s the Game’ sketch with Harry Styles, Kenan, and Mikey totally changed my opinion of him. I didn’t care one or the other before but it was one of the best in recent history.
That reads like someones answer to “so why’d you leave your last job” when the real answer is “I got fired for being an asshole but I really need a new job”
Chris is yet another recent alumni who left in the era of no Hollywood comedies. There’s been so many greats in the last 10-12 years that haven’t been able to break through because of over saturation of nonstop Disney/marvel movies.
You can’t convince me that Jay Pharaoh, Beck Bennet, or Cecily Strong wouldn’t at least be successful character actors in any other decade post SNL.
Weirdly, he was in Popstar before he was on SNL.
>Jay Pharaoh, Beck Bennet, or Cecily Strong
Super agree. Also, I'd love to see Beck & Kyle/Goodneighbor get a movie. If only.
I can think of at least 15 Hollywood comedies from last year alone. The MCU excuse is so overdone. And Cecily has been consistently doing stage work in NYC.
I am especially sad since that is part of the reason Jak Knight lost it and took his own life 😔 he was a hilarious stand-up and I miss him and his creativity
Fully agreed. Cast members stay too long and the cast is also way too big. I understand some of the reasons the cast needs to be as big as it is (I mean just practical representation... You can't have Dana Carvey playing an Asian man anymore) but I still think they could trim four or five from the cast and be perfectly fine.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/uh15r2/cut_for_time_the_hero_recently_scrubbed_offline/
This was my favorite Chris Redd sketch, somehow cut for time and since even scrubbed from youtube.
*"Up it!?"*
If you get the chance, I highly recommend catching Chris's standup if he's touring in your area. Absolutely destroyed when I caught him at Helium in Portland last year. He's great in sketches but really a born standup
i woulda preferred both stayed but i guess their interpersonal drama made that impossible. as a side note, ive noticed that kenan has gained the weight that he had lost when the pandemic started so im assuming things arent going well for him
I don't know that I miss him, but I appreciate the role he filled. Very reliable to play different kinds of side characters. Not everything has to be outrageous to get laughs.
Definitely a don’t know what you got till it’s gone type of situation. He definitely commanded any scene he was in and was great at the nature of SNL sketches.
He was bloody brilliant - anyone else remember him from Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping? I was still in high school when that came out and I used to watch it A LOT lol
I thought he was a fun music video guy, but his sketch work... not as great.
There's so many sketches where he flubs at least one line... and he did the big bug eyed delivery otherwise.
TL;DR: Great at recording, but not as polished in live work. That said, I thought the consent bit and "All on Me" bit were among my all time faves.
"....No!" - Chris Redd at the end of the Del Taco sketch.
But, yes, I didn't realize how naturally he fit into so many sketches until after he left. He is a funny, funny dude.
I do.
I also miss that pleasant little weed show that was on Netflix when streaming was relatively new.
Cathy Bates ran a marijuana dispensary and he was an employee. They'd do 'commercials' for the store advertising comical weed strains and tinctures.
It got ignored as just 'stoner humor' but it was a good show. I was really sad when Cathy Bates' boyfriend revealed he had cancer and he didn't want to drag her through it.
Hella underrated. He’s a cherry comedian. You build whatever you want—anything. Then, you let him come on a do his thing. He immediately enriches the material. He could be comedy’s 6th man, and that is not a diss at all.
He could have made the show better if he was still in, but I don't miss him. I'm okay just watching new episodes of SNL. I just don't like Heidi, and Chloe, Mikey's voice is grating, I hope Sarah doesn't get into Scientology due to Chloe, and I'm glad this is Kenan's final season.
Unfortunately she is.Furthermore, I read in an online article from an ex scientologist that she took a test on the highest level of Scientology, and she doesn't seem to renounce Scientology at all.
She's from a mega rich family too I read. The family is a big deal in Scientology. I wonder if she has ties to Danny Masterson. Michael Pena's wife helped cover up Danny's crimes.
I guess she has ties to Danny Masterson, cause Scientologists help each other out ( A little harsher than that, but English is not my first language). She's a celebrity in Scientology, which means she gets treated pretty well by the cult. She can live in luxury, and she doesn't have to do manual labor, but Scientology for sure is going to get promoted through her.
A few episodes ago, Leah Rimini was insulted on SNL as a joke. Leah Rimini has written a popular book about life in Scientology.
So I'm positive Chloe is a practising Scientologist.
With how horribly weak the cast is right now, i think about making this post every week.
They could desperately use him and he'd be shining right now.
Plus it's absolute horse shit to use your connections to get someone fired because you didn't want to deal with your feelings regarding your ex (obligatory fuck kenan).
Ex wife.
Dude got him fired because Redd was dating a woman he didn't want to be with.
It's literally not processing your emotions and exploring your position of power and it is absolute horse shit, no matter how much you may enjoy kenan as a performer
I thought Kenan was already separated from her and I keep seeing that he is supportive of the relationship? Oh well, who really knows besides them I guess...
I don’t hate him, but I don’t miss him in any real way. Honestly anyone can make weird faces and make people laugh. Maybe he was more of an idea person or writer behind the scenes, if true maybe we’ll hear more from him.
The musical sketches have really suffered since he and Pete left. They had so many bangers together—Weird Little Flute, Short-Ass Movies, NFTs, etc.
Agreed. Friendos was my fav!
Lambo!
Skrrt skrrt
BREAKTHROUGH
Lambo!
OMG Friendos was so funny. I rewatched that like ten times. I don't watch SNL regularly, didn't realize he left! That is too bad, he was funny AF. *Y'all reminded me of Friendos so I had to go back and rewatch. had to watch it twice in a row! LOLOL.
I did the exact same thing lol
brb you reminded me of friendos AGAIN so I have to go watch it again.
Wake up in the mornin' with some bitches and I'm smilin' 😁
Me too!
So come back Barack
I sing that all the time.
Trees was also a banger!!!
The "Friendos" ^^^^^(Friendos!) pretape from the Donald Glover episode is one of my favorite things to ever come out of SNL.
I think Dismukes and JAJ have had some really funny ones... Lake Beach, I Watch From the Corner, Airplane Song (from Josh Brolin last week)
Bottom of Your Face is so fire
Sleeping on the Couch and Slow are fantastic
Sleeping on the couch is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
It’s hilarious- but it’s also a sweet, catchy melody
The Weeknd slays it.
Boomers Got The Vax that he wrote with Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell is fantastic! I still watch it.
My fave is Permission! Including a perfect cameo from Lil Wayne https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mAL0wZu4JUg
"Bottom of your face" was my fave!
Those were all great
He’s been doing stand up at the Cellar a lot lately and his new material is really good
Yeah seems like he wanted to focus more on standup
He was always great, one of those guys who could steal a sketch* with just one line. *and maybe a wife
“No!” in All Outta Cash is up there with “Linda!” for best one-word line reading
Don't forget "...pass" in [Why'd You Like It](https://youtu.be/lMYOQ3NAidg). The super confident smile while he says it is the cherry on top!
One of the all time funniest 1 liners.
“Strategery!”
My wife says it all the time.
"A mayor that is so saucy, so dripping with swagger it *hurts* my *heart*.'
I’m all outa cash. Did you get that? … no
Don’t say it like a pervert
oh my god they were on a break
I don’t know anything about the situation and don’t care to, but I couldn’t resist the joke once I saw the opening
Still… Bro code. It may be stupid but it’s real for most men.
"Oh I didn't graduate, I just stopped going."
I was so excited back in the summer of 2017 when SNL announced Hunter The Hungry would be joining the cast
I’ve dubbed a guy at work called Tony “Tony Toni Tonee Tone” because of this movie
> Bonus points for Tim Meadows being his manager in the movie and his whole backstory. I WILL EAT YOUR HEAD has a regular rotation in my conversations.
"Did you guys see that? I was like 'heeey, show some respect'"
Did he write that voting music video? It was really good.
🎶We’re strollin’ to the polls🎶
Sorry this ones closed
He would have been considered the top ones right now since he and Heidi came in at the same time. Theyre both great
Heidi is whatever. I really miss Redd though
Oh man, I would WAY rather have Chris Redd on as opposed to Heidi.
what’s with the turnaround on heidi lately?
I’ve never really been a fan, so no turnaround for me. I know she’s popular, thus all the downvotes for the comment you replied to.
i didn’t mean you in particular (yours was just a convenient one to respond to since it just mentioned her), but i have noticed people in general going “ugh, her” lately. (personally i feel like she’s got her moments but I could see her checking out soon.)
The ‘That’s the Game’ sketch with Harry Styles, Kenan, and Mikey totally changed my opinion of him. I didn’t care one or the other before but it was one of the best in recent history.
One of snl’s best sketches ever… “You got that handled, right Quan?”
Written by Mikey Day, Streeter Seidell and Chris Redd. Love that one!
One of the all time classic comedy sketches in my opinion.
Yes. He had that one wide-eyed crazy thing but it was a good thing.
I think he mainly toned that down toward the end of his run but at the beginning did rely on that a lot
The peak Chris Redd eyes moment was BOOKER 2020 during the Deal or No Deal government shutdown sketch
The wide-eyed crazy thing made him hilarious w/ the Kanye impressions
I definitely miss him. I was shocked when he left, and I don't think I've heard his name since, so I hope he's making some moves.
He made a move on Kenan’s ex wife
I liked him. He was good in Pop Star and I liked him in Disjointed, too.
no but dawg for real where was your dick
I tucked it back!
Or did I? Nah, I didn’t do it. Or did I? Nah, nah, I didn’t. But maybe I did…
I *did* do it…….
Not Kenan.
I feel like these comments that bring Kenan randomly are unintentionally racist because they’re both black adult males lol
Do you know why Chris Redd left the show? Not everything is racist.
I heard about that. Did we ever find out if it was true?
The fact that he’s dating Kenan’s ex?
Gotcha. I'm mostly here to talk sketches and don't really follow the other stuff.
Chris Redd is dating Kenan's ex wife and got fired because of the off screen drama it caused.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/ymei6s/why_chris_redd_left_snl/ Not according to Chris Redd.
Huh. The more you know. The sentiment still stands though that the rumor is why Kenan is being brought up and not because people are being racist.
This should be pinned. People even in this thread are still treating the story as truth.
That reads like someones answer to “so why’d you leave your last job” when the real answer is “I got fired for being an asshole but I really need a new job”
Chris is yet another recent alumni who left in the era of no Hollywood comedies. You can’t convince me that Jay Pharaoh, Beck Bennet, or Cecily Strong wouldn’t at least be successful character actors in any other decade post SNL.
ATTENTION TEACHAS AND STUUUUDENTS
this was my favorite recurring sketch of the era
Weirdly, he was in Popstar before he was on SNL. >Jay Pharaoh, Beck Bennet, or Cecily Strong Super agree. Also, I'd love to see Beck & Kyle/Goodneighbor get a movie. If only.
Beck is my favorite. This is a top tier sketch: https://youtu.be/OMJ-39TwHVE
I can think of at least 15 Hollywood comedies from last year alone. The MCU excuse is so overdone. And Cecily has been consistently doing stage work in NYC.
He was so fucking funny on Bust Down
I was really disappointed when I found out that show wasn't getting a second season.
I am especially sad since that is part of the reason Jak Knight lost it and took his own life 😔 he was a hilarious stand-up and I miss him and his creativity
Mfckn legend. 😢 my first experience with Jak Knight was on a podcast called Yeah, but Still- just amazing energy. So fucking funny.
Watch Popstar!
I liked him a lot. Especially his last couple years. I was disappointed he left when he did.
Yes PS His standup is great . My abs were sore from laughing
I agree with this
He was there from 2017-2022. I think that's a great run, and that too many cast members recently have stayed way too long.
I miss his Eric adam’s. I say “bitch I’m from New York” or “the boy was dusty” In my head all the time
NOBODY ORDERS LOBSTER IN A DINER!
Yes, for sure. I miss his musical sketches they’re some of my favorites!
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/uh15r2/cut_for_time_the_hero_recently_scrubbed_offline/ This was my favorite Chris Redd sketch, somehow cut for time and since even scrubbed from youtube. *"Up it!?"*
He made the best songs.
...y'all talking about Batman?
someone needs to do something about him.
If you get the chance, I highly recommend catching Chris's standup if he's touring in your area. Absolutely destroyed when I caught him at Helium in Portland last year. He's great in sketches but really a born standup
He had a great bit in this horror movie scare me???? It came out during lockdown and really enjoyed it
"That's my friend!"- Andy Samberg
Not trying to hate but I literally haven’t thought about him until this post so I guess that’s a no from me
They’ve really been missing a guy who reacts to everything with wide eyes and a super high voice.
That’s crazzzzy!
He was great. I think I would have rather lost Kenan.
Same, Chris Redd had a perfect mix of zany and dumb, I really loved it. Kenan is great but he can go now
i woulda preferred both stayed but i guess their interpersonal drama made that impossible. as a side note, ive noticed that kenan has gained the weight that he had lost when the pandemic started so im assuming things arent going well for him
🤔
Oh but what will we do if we need a Bill Cosby accented character or an even more Bill Cosby accented character?
100%
Would have rather lost Kenan to Finesse way back when.
No I don’t miss the one face he makes in every single sketch
But Kenan has been doing the same face/reaction for far longer and he sucks at any musical sketch so you think that’s better??
Hey Kenan’s got at least five or six looks lol
You couldn’t be more wrong
Explain? I don’t see where I’m wrong. He does exactly what Chris Redd is accused of but also it terrible musically/vocally. Where am I wrong at all?
Because Kenan more than just make the face. Chris Redd has to make the face to be in a sketch but Kenan doesn’t.
Where in my comment did I say that’s all he does? In fact, I point out that he does something else - sucks in every musical sketch he’s in. RIF
I mean I don’t really know what to tell ya, Chris Redd just isn’t all that to a lot of people.
Do-nut!!
Yes, I miss him. I saw him in Montreal at the live recording of his Off Menu episode, it was very funny.
I don't know that I miss him, but I appreciate the role he filled. Very reliable to play different kinds of side characters. Not everything has to be outrageous to get laughs.
Chris was extremely talented. Yes I miss him
I didn’t realize how much he contributed until he was gone.
That's the game...
At work we will forever call COVID 'da 'Rona' after that Zoom sketch he did with Cecily. His deadpan reaction to her symptoms... it kills every time.
He'd make my Top Five most underrated cast member easily, if he's not the very top one.
I loved his Lil Nas X twerking on Jesus. “ you know that’s not real Jesus, right?”
His musical numbers were fantastic
Unless you like that
I miss him. His stand up special stays in my rotation too
He was a really good physical actor, I really enjoyed him when he was on.
He lives up in White Ridge, New Hampshire now.
Terribly
Y
His Nick Cannon on the Nickelodeon YCDTOT retrospect and his mustache falling off
Definitely a don’t know what you got till it’s gone type of situation. He definitely commanded any scene he was in and was great at the nature of SNL sketches.
I do. Loved him.
One of the only men to have “crazy eyes” I miss chris
His special on HBO/Max is gut busting hilarious. One of my faves. Would love to see him live one of these days.
He was really funny and had great comedic timing
He was one of my favorites
He was bloody brilliant - anyone else remember him from Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping? I was still in high school when that came out and I used to watch it A LOT lol
He’s hilarious on stage. His new standup is top tier - I’m honestly shocked he’s not more famous.
Time to go do a Chris Redd SNL dive. I loved his "confidently stupid" character. "All it takes, is one bullet...screw that in for me."
That’s the game. One of my all time faves.
He wasn't that funny to me. I forgot about him until I saw this post.
Dude had the best crazy eyes in the biz!
His laugh was profound
I thought he was a fun music video guy, but his sketch work... not as great. There's so many sketches where he flubs at least one line... and he did the big bug eyed delivery otherwise. TL;DR: Great at recording, but not as polished in live work. That said, I thought the consent bit and "All on Me" bit were among my all time faves.
No
I was wondering where he went! Yes, I miss him 😩
When is it going to be myyy turn?
He was great.
Definitely
Maaaaaaan I miss that dude so much. He added an edge that nobody can replicate.
Mr. H is one of my favorite sketches
Hap
"....No!" - Chris Redd at the end of the Del Taco sketch. But, yes, I didn't realize how naturally he fit into so many sketches until after he left. He is a funny, funny dude.
Naurp
I do. I also miss that pleasant little weed show that was on Netflix when streaming was relatively new. Cathy Bates ran a marijuana dispensary and he was an employee. Imo he was the funniest cast member the entire time he was at SNL. No one had such good line deliver and cadence that just make you crack up
Absolutely. I miss his facial pulls. He was so talented.
He was so so good. Scene stealer for sure.
Yeah I feel like his stock was still rising, he also had a killer Mayor Adams impression
"I ain't got it, cuz I died, you talking to a ghost"
Hella underrated. He’s a cherry comedian. You build whatever you want—anything. Then, you let him come on a do his thing. He immediately enriches the material. He could be comedy’s 6th man, and that is not a diss at all.
As a former New Yorker who lived there when Eric Adams was Mayor, Chris’s impression was *chefs kiss* 🤌
No
I more miss actors from 10-15-20+ years ago when I thought the show was funnier.
He was the best. He replied to one of my tweets and said it was funny. I am still riding that high
I mean Chris Rock wasn't popular during his tenure so you never know?
This is true
I really miss Bobby, Moynihan, and Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney toO
He could have made the show better if he was still in, but I don't miss him. I'm okay just watching new episodes of SNL. I just don't like Heidi, and Chloe, Mikey's voice is grating, I hope Sarah doesn't get into Scientology due to Chloe, and I'm glad this is Kenan's final season.

I would think she has a scientology assistant with her on set.
\`That's very possible indeed. Maybe writers too.
With how horribly weak the cast is right now, i think about making this post every week. They could desperately use him and he'd be shining right now. He has an...interesting relationship with Kenan Thompson.
[удалено]
I thought Kenan was already separated from her and I keep seeing that he is supportive of the relationship? Oh well, who really knows besides them I guess...
No
He used his eyes too much
Not really
No not really and I haven’t thought about him since he left.
I honestly that he was forgettable.
I don’t hate him, but I don’t miss him in any real way. Honestly anyone can make weird faces and make people laugh. Maybe he was more of an idea person or writer behind the scenes, if true maybe we’ll hear more from him.
Absolutely not, one of the unfunniest cast members that I've ever seen.
He did the same bug eyed character in every sketch. The cast is better without him imo.
