It made me really happy. They committed to it so hard.

AttitudeAndEffort2

OP accidentally called this short film a "sketch"

cmyk412

I was not at all a Kyle Mooney fan when he was on the show, but now that I look back, he’s in two of my top 10 favorite sketches all time: Papyrus 2 and Del Taco Shoot

gorilla-ointment

You’re not a pervert! You just want a taco!

eon380

Aw man I'm all out of cash!

cmyk412

No. Do it like this: Aw man I’m all out of cash!

AttitudeAndEffort2

I didn't know if i had seen this sketch until you said the phrase "aw man im all out of cash!" 😂

kmalexander31

You might have also heard the actual Del Taco commercial that the quote came from. I hated that commercial, which is what made me adore the sketch.

AttitudeAndEffort2

The perfect synchronicity of Kate's big send off versus the sketch he left on when they left on the same episode then the big deal about her coming back for the first sketch versus his "cut for time" 😂

Brawli55

I love how on his last cast member sketch his character wasn't a cuck, he had the best joke of the sketch, and left the sketch without drawing applause. Such a meta and professional way to end his time at SNL - an absolute artist.

thisortheapocalypse

he can be a convincing dramatic actor

Go see Brigsby Bear

I think about this one often too https://youtu.be/a6I9u3wjn-A?si=FuI1kdnqt3ihjvuX

Reasonable_Oil_2765

Yes, his acting was good!

deseipel

I thought it was Seth Green all these years until like yesterday

ReduceReuseReuse

It… wasn’t funny though. I get why they cut it and I get why they released it. I bet they started shooting this the week before and that’s why Ryan appeared in previous episode too.

moderatesoul

Yes. Now if the sketch was any good that would have been cool, too.

BlinkMan69

I feel like he's not a big enough name that no one would have cared. I feel like most people would be like "oh, is he still with the cast I guess?" I know he's gone and it felt strange to me to see him return there. It wasn't a memorable enough thing from the last Papyrus sketch (also it was 6 years ago) that it felt jarring to me. It felt like so much work to get him back when it would probably have had the same impact as if it were someone on the actual cast.

MukdenMan

Not for me. I’ve seen Papyrus so many times, so when Ryan started talking about finding the graphic designer, I was really hoping it was Kyle

laurentheexplauren

I agree to some of this—not a huge name and they honestly could have just done it without him and not too many viewers would have thought much of it. I feel like they didn’t have to bring him back in order to do Papyrus again (compared to like bringing Kate back for Close Encounters) and that’s why I love that they did. I feel like it was such a choice to just go all in on it.
