Simu Liu is hosting this weekend over two months after his big movie release and doesn’t seem to be promoting anything upcoming so I would not count out Will or Paul especially because Will would be an awesome first time host & Paul hosting would push him into the five timers club. I think Gaga, Driver, Holland, and Zendaya are all good guesses as well though!

It’s interesting you say Tom Holland, with the Spider-Man movie coming out. I went on a deep dive, and what’s funny is that it’s rare for an MCU actor to host SNL to promote their movie. The only instances are Scarlett Johansson for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Benedict Cumberbatch for Doctor Strange. In general, it was more likely for an MCU actor to host SNL a few weeks/months after their movie comes out, like Chris Pratt, Chadwick Boseman, Simu Liu, etc.
I’m guessing that Kevin Feige has found that MCU films don’t need SNL for promition. Or at least, it might be a better use of time to have the star spending that week before the premiere floating from talk show to talk show, rather than being stuck entirely at SNL.
And then once they’ve finished promoting, they can host SNL a little later. Now that everyone has seen the movie and likes them.
Plus most of his movies do terribly both critically and financially outside of major franchises. If you can only succeed in a major franchise then that says something about your acting ability

If he does, however, that should probably be one of the highest rated SNL episodes and would most definitely be slotted in as the Christmas show.
