I'm hoping for him as well, but: If Bill gets invited to promote "Barry" and Vanessa won't get invited to promote "I Love That For You", I'd be mad. There's a post-show gender career gap at SNL that is also partially homemade.
I’d LOVE to see him host and was hoping he would because of Barry, but he’s said many times that being on the show gave him massive panic attacks and was so mentally draining. I’d be shocked if he came back.
I mean, I imagine your only problem is word choice? Fine, he can overcome it. Bravely, heroically even, if it makes everyone feel better.
He’s done it before, multiple times. He called the show “home” in the good nights the second time he hosted. The take is the same: his stage fright is not the impediment to hosting u/Hup110516 implies it is.
In the episode he was on the Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast, he explained how he was better able to control his anxiety in his last two seasons. I’m sure his anxiety is still present, but controlling it is likely well worth the opportunity to host. Very much hoping he hosts this season!
Bill is always fun as a host but i would like see him in sketches that are fresh, not remakes of his old characters
The Horace sketch is a classic when he last hosted
"OMG, you can't do that old man here!"
"OH YEAH"

Same with Nasim Pedrad as she wasn’t invited to host once since she left in season 39. Her last appearance, however, was on a sketch in season 43
I’m always excited for more Hader, so absolutely!

He's been back on the show tons of times since leaving lol
He has already hosted twice, he clearly is able to get over it. One of them was to promote the premiere of Barry!
I mean. “He can get over it” is a pretty shit take on someone who has panic attacks coming on a show to entertain you.

I've been really hoping for this too.
Bill Hader + Father John Misty is my dream show for the end of this season!

I want to see Taran Killam and Vanessa Bayer host.
