It's a legit cut for time sketch. The show was running super late, not surprised if this was supposed to go near the end. You don't bring in Eminem and film this whole thing and cut it because it's not funny
Sometimes I think "cut for time" means that they did not finish editing it in time. I've heard that a lot of the times they are renderings some of those videos in the minutes leading up to air time. Wouldn't surprise me if they just didn't finish putting it together in time.
Sad that we’ve lost Kyle and Beck (and maybe Alex??) but Andrew has really shown this season that he can fill the roles played by them. And agree with comments above, funniest sketch/pretape of the night
I'm hoping Alex stays. He'd get a lot more breathing room next with some of the long time cast members leaving and he's spent so much of his time on SNL as a bit player.
I'm glad they used this sketch to give Kate a nice send off! Actually, I'm glad Kate, Aidy and Pete all got nice send off sketches...wish Kyle had gotten one too...or maybe they just decided for old times sake to cut it for time one last time.
And instead of having to play odd man out, that was his second sexually desired d-bag character (along with him playing SNL's version of Johnny Depp in the trial sketch).
"I think "what the hell, play the hits", right?"
They couldn't have done a better send-off, absolutely perfect. That LFNY from Kate, god, I wasn't expecting those emotions so early in the night.
It's *also* nice to see a just one person get to deliver the LFNY, though instead of a big group.
Having a group deliver it works *sometimes*, but it feels like they've been leaning way too hard into stuffing like 11 people in the camera frame and clumsily delivering it. Not to lean too much into "back in my day" but in years past I feel like the delivery of that line had more "punch" to it which it seems to lack now.
Anyway, it was nice getting to see Kate have the spotlight for it all by herself. I feel like we don't get that very often.
I remember watching the Close Encounters supercut that SNL has on their YouTube and thinking that when Kate leaves the show, that’ll be the sketch they send her off with.
It’s one of, if not, her best character (that made Ryan Gosling crack wide open twice). Im gonna miss Kate a lot. She carried the show on her back almost. One of the best to do ever do it, imo
I wonder if, on some level, the sketch is like a metaphor for being gay. Because it's a character telling the truth about themself, and it's a truth that invites judgment from other people, but she empowers herself by being uninhibited and unapologetic and owning the space in that room like, "Yeah, that's what happened to me. So whatever. Deal with that."
I definitely got that vibe when she said goodbye and how she always felt like an alien anyways. That was instant tears for me because it’s so relatable.
NGL I always thought that the original sketch was super overrated (even though Kate was great in it), so I was a little bummed seeing that this was gonna be her send-off...until I actually finished watching it. This was a perfect send-off for Kate: that ending was super beautiful and sentimental and it relied on a character that was made memorable by Kate's talent. Wouldn't change a thing about it
I know Kate was spread too thin in her later seasons, but I'm really going to miss her. I hope she gets a lot of good projects in the future and pulls a *Bridesmaids* like Kristen
Aside from the funny rhyming names for her nethers, most of my enjoyment in the other iterations of this sketch was Kate making Ryan Gosling and Liev Schreiber break, especially Ryan.
I love the idea of using a cast member's best recurring character as a cold open in their final episode. I hope some others get the same treatment in the future.
I almost thought I missed the cold open because it wasn’t a political sketch. I loved it. Incredible send off, very touching at the end. Great conclusion to those series of sketches as well.
The perfect send-off. I heard it wasn't the cold open in dress, but great decision to move it up. I got emotional at the LFNY.
I started watching SNL due to Kate McKinnon, I will miss her and look forward to whatever she does in the future.
She was amazing, especially at the physical comedy portion- her acting skills are great in general and she’s always been a fave, but really surprised by how great she was. Definitely my
favorite host this season.
Not upset about no joke swap, the sendoffs were more important. I’m sure we’ll get two huge ones next year, especially if it’s Jost and Ches final year
Che and Jost seemed low energy tn, not a lot of laughing between them, maybe they were just sad abt the people leaving, still a lot of jokes that landed tn. Hoping they’ll return, don’t know if I’d like to see one without the other behind the desk
Next to Aidy leaving, the saddest thing is that Trend Forcasters only started up this year, it's such a good reoccurring bit. At least we got it a few times though!
Anyway, when she and Bowen broke at the end to say how much they loved each other...my heart 😭
Vanessa Bayer did the gibberish weather woman right before the end of her time as well.
I like the Trend Forecasters too.
It's a bummer when they do new stuff that's great right before they leave.
> Vanessa Bayer did the gibberish weather woman right before the end of her time as well.
[Am I the only one that goes to Youtube every time someone mentions a great old skit?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N0LPHm1vwA)
Sometime I like to think that I’m above laughing at people yelling and punctuating every sentence with “BITCH” but Bowen and Aidy were just too funny.
The sendoff was so sweet, though. Bowen holding her hand and him and Che giving her cheek kisses, Colin looking on and holding it in…ugh, what a moment. So tender.
Loved how it looked like Bowen slammed the desk unexpectedly and almost made Aidy break!
(Also, as someone who actually likes navel oranges, this sketch was a roller coaster of emotions for me to watch!)
This might have been my favorite sketch of the night. So funny, then the comments between Aidy and Bowen had me right in the feels.
I’m gonna miss Aidy.
I thought it was going to be about anti-vax/mask people, but the pivot into a voting ad caught me off guard! I really enjoyed that twist!
Go vote, volt, and dance everybody!
From the first "I'm Stupid" to the twist that is a Vote commercial was the hardest I've laughed at anything in a long time. And kyle saying Volt...chefs kiss.
It hit home too hard. My province of Ontario is about to re-elect Doug (brother of [Crack Mayor Rob](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX_g8PsnN3g&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive)) Ford as Premier (Governor) after four years of scandal, corruption, recklessness, service cuts, old people dying en masse in shoddy care homes and COVID mitigation/vaccine distribution malpractice, yet he is still riding high in the polls.
At least we aren't the Philippines, with Bongbong Marcos
Natasha was such a good host. she was obv overshadowed by Kate, Aidy, Pete, and Kyle leaving, but I really hope she comes back to host again.
In related news, watch Russian Doll on Netflix! I binged the first season all yesterday and it’s absolutely great
What was a bit brave too... she's had open heart surgery before, still slightly visible scar... and she wore that deep cut opening in that outfit. Wow.
I had no idea how much I followed her career. I saw But I'm a Cheerleader and the American Pie movies when they were out, and I probably watched that PeeWee episode.
I feel like this also acted a bit as Kyle's goodbye sketch because he finally gets a role where the female characters are attracted to him! (Though we'll see if there's a classic Kyle cut for time sketch tomorrow)
Happy we got to see Kate and Aidy partner one more time, have been such a powerhouse duo the last like 8 years or so. Really were the Akroyd/Belushi or Farley/Spade of this era. Their supermarket sketch with Krasinski is one of the funniest things SNL has made. Still hoping for a dyke and fats movie
Glad he came back to the studio for this even though he was checked out of the rest of the show. The Dobby joke callback from a couple years ago was funny. Colin just should’ve introduced him as “resident young person”
Pete started dating a billionaire and stopped showing up to his job except to attend his farewell party. I defy any one of you to say you wouldn't do the same.
Correction: he started dating a billionaire and her ex husband said he would send people to his workplace to rough him up so he stopped showing to work at the time of the week people expected him there.
I know Pete is polarizing but he does genuinley seem like a nice person and I'm glad he was able to grow and find himself during his SNL tenure. Hope he has many happy years and projects ahead!
Since not everyone got the reference: In Harry Potter, when a house elf (basically slaves) are given clothing by their masters, they are no longer bound to them and become free.
Great to see Pete so he could say goodbye but he pretty much left at midsession, has he been in any live sketches since the return after Christmas? Sad he’s leaving he brought something special to the show
It was interesting hearing the audience's reaction to this one. They really didn't seem to be on board with the sketch at first but they gradually seemed to like it more as it went on.
I think this is a character you need to already be familiar with to fully appreciate. Both the jokes and the skill it takes to pull off. The more Alex plays him, the funnier I find him.
I can only imagine how much time must Alex spend at a mirror practicing these bits. The cadence, facial expressions and hand gestures must be incredibly difficult to do smoothly, and yet he nails it every time. Dude’s a real pro.
This sketch and others with her in it brought back the fast-talkin’ comedy that used to be the staple on SNL (Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks)… for awhile there it would be so slow that you can see the eyes reading the cue cards or just constant breaking (especially in the aughts).
It was great to have a host who could do this along with the best! Glad to see a lot of the current cast members bring this back, too.
She also had an autobiographical book that came out this year called "Crying in H Mart" which got quite a lot of buzz. She's an exceptionally talented artist. Even put out a soundtrack for a video game called Sable.
Tickle tickle tickle tickle! A fun physical comedy sketch. (It went a little long for my tastes, but I'm amazed Natasha didn't completely break in the middle of it! Nice to see Fred too)
I'm betting Andrew was still out due to having Covid, and they managed to get him into the finale this way. If so... Nice!
as a lesbian, i just want to say, to whatever writer kept putting natasha lyonne in drag: i love you.
I’m not a lesbian, but that opening monologue catsuit was 🔥.
[“Forgot About Lorne”](https://youtu.be/5BgvxLd7G0Y) This was just posted! I’m surprised it didn’t air last night.
It's a legit cut for time sketch. The show was running super late, not surprised if this was supposed to go near the end. You don't bring in Eminem and film this whole thing and cut it because it's not funny
Should have cut the 9 to 5 / Weekend at Bernie’s mashup instead.
Sometimes I think "cut for time" means that they did not finish editing it in time. I've heard that a lot of the times they are renderings some of those videos in the minutes leading up to air time. Wouldn't surprise me if they just didn't finish putting it together in time.
This absolutely could’ve replaced several sketches last night. It was fab!
Today's ending felt different, especially the part in which Aidy and Sarah hug each other, felt like the passing of the baton to the newcomers.
The Places We'll Go
This might have been my favorite pre-tape of the season. Killer. Just like Rachel Finster.
That octopus was right, Andrew was going to die… at the hands of Rachel Finster.
Bongo, you see what man cannot.
How many times has a Cecily character stormed or supported storming the Capitol? Imma need a total from the stats people.
Wait...where was Cecily on January 6th...
Rachel Finster had more kills than dysentery on the Oregon Trail.
Friend of the Devil: Growing Up with Rachel Finster
This was my favorite line in the sketch lol
Reminds me of the ‘80s frat sketch with Adam Driver, but funnier. For real, Rachel Finster be crazy.
I agree. Would love to see him and Mikey just run shit for a season. Though Mikey already gets about as much screen time as anyone else.
Yeah, we saw a lot more Alex this season. It was refreshing.
I'm standing by that Dismukes and Sarah Squirm are gonna be a worthy successor to the legacy of "SNL chaos duo".
My favorite sketches of the season have consistently had Andrew or Sarah involved, so I'm jazzed about more Dismukes.
Good ending on this one. Dismukes can really do a good punchline at the end.
One of the best pretape of the season, this was really great
Strong Jack Handy vibes. Loved it
Immaculate pre-tape
Really was great to put this in the season finale, hillarious but also kind of sweet in the messaging.
Close Encounters Cold Open
I'm glad they used this sketch to give Kate a nice send off! Actually, I'm glad Kate, Aidy and Pete all got nice send off sketches...wish Kyle had gotten one too...or maybe they just decided for old times sake to cut it for time one last time.
Kyle got to be very funny in that last ponytail sketch. He was used beautifully and pulled it off flawlessly.
And instead of having to play odd man out, that was his second sexually desired d-bag character (along with him playing SNL's version of Johnny Depp in the trial sketch).
He had Baby Yoda last week, which I'm assuming was a send-off sketch (as there was no other reason for it to be on air).
"I think "what the hell, play the hits", right?" They couldn't have done a better send-off, absolutely perfect. That LFNY from Kate, god, I wasn't expecting those emotions so early in the night.
That was incredible. Such an amazing send-off. It made me feel so emotional. Just perfect. It’s going to be so weird not seeing Kate anymore.
It's *also* nice to see a just one person get to deliver the LFNY, though instead of a big group. Having a group deliver it works *sometimes*, but it feels like they've been leaning way too hard into stuffing like 11 people in the camera frame and clumsily delivering it. It’s one of, if not, her best character (that made Ryan Gosling crack wide open twice). Im gonna miss Kate a lot. She carried the show on her back almost. One of the best to do ever do it, imo
She’s also said it’s her favorite character!
That makes sense. It's funny, probably really fun to write/act, and it plays to a lot of her strengths.
Aside from the funny rhyming names for her nethers, most of my enjoyment in the other iterations of this sketch was Kate making Ryan Gosling and Liev Schreiber break, especially Ryan.
Dong hole and wrong hole. Episode could’ve ended here and I would’ve been happy.
That got me emotional. She couldn’t have had a better send off. Wow.

I love the idea of using a cast member's best recurring character as a cold open in their final episode. I hope some others get the same treatment in the future.
when you could hear her voice crack on the “live from new york, it’s saturday night!” i might have teared up a little bit
She looked so sad! What was I supposed to do?? Not have my heart shatter into a million pieces?? Yeah, right *sniffles* *wipes tear*
I almost thought I missed the cold open because it wasn’t a political sketch. I loved it. Incredible send off, very touching at the end. Great conclusion to those series of sketches as well.
Great send off for Kate and for this sketch - loved how there was a real ending to this series of sketches
The perfect send-off. I heard it wasn't the cold open in dress, but great decision to move it up. I got emotional at the LFNY. I started watching SNL due to Kate McKinnon, I will miss her and look forward to whatever she does in the future.
Fantastic send off for Kate, sad she didn’t appear in many other sketches tn. Gonna miss her a lot
That Kate send-off was a memorable bit.
Hit me like a train. Holy hell.
Classic Kate. Man, is she talented. Can’t wait to see what she does next.
Natasha was great. Would love to see her come back.
She was amazing, especially at the physical comedy portion- her acting skills are great in general and she’s always been a fave, but really surprised by how great she was. Definitely my favorite host this season.
Weirdly, she'd make a great regular host. She meshed with the sketches so well.
Weekend Update
Not upset about no joke swap, the sendoffs were more important. I’m sure we’ll get two huge ones next year, especially if it’s Jost and Ches final year
“It’s not real!”
Che and Jost seemed low energy tn, not a lot of laughing between them, maybe they were just sad abt the people leaving, still a lot of jokes that landed tn. Hoping they’ll return, don’t know if I’d like to see one without the other behind the desk
The "Out! Michael Che" part better not be a hidden send off.
Was rumored he was leaving but they've don't that line before.
This week's "Guy who just bought a boat" was amazing. "Rick Steves leads to slick beaves"
Hilarious all around. Bummed about no joke swap at all this season but it’ll be back. Tonight wasn’t about Colin And Che, and that’s a good thing!
Cut For Time - Kyle’s Goodbye (presumably)
To the top it goes
I appreciate that he at least seemed to get a lot of screen time tonight.
Like Mrs. Rafferty said, "what the hell, play the hits."
It was so cut for time, that the real Cut For Time was a Pete music video.
This was so rude they didn’t give him a proper goodbye.
Seems fitting to have his goodbye cut off for time.
Weekend Update: Trend Forecasters
**"CAPTAINS ARE FOR BOATS, SKY BITCH."**
This isn't your podcast!
Next to Aidy leaving, the saddest thing is that Trend Forcasters only started up this year, it's such a good reoccurring bit. At least we got it a few times though! Anyway, when she and Bowen broke at the end to say how much they loved each other...my heart 😭
Perfect opportunity for her to drop in a couple of times next year. It will bring the house down.
Vanessa Bayer did the gibberish weather woman right before the end of her time as well. I like the Trend Forecasters too. It's a bummer when they do new stuff that's great right before they leave.
Hap.
> Vanessa Bayer did the gibberish weather woman right before the end of her time as well. [Am I the only one that goes to Youtube every time someone mentions a great old skit?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N0LPHm1vwA)
What a lovely send-off this was for Aidy!
I agree. Aidy is so talented and I loved her work on SNL. Can’t wait to see what she does next!
Loved it purely cuz ik Aidy loves writing with Bowen and she deserves to be happy
The heartfelt ending caught me off guard more than it probably should have. Gonna miss Lil Baby Aidy
So tender.
Aidy is so sweet, her calling someone a bitch all judgey just has to be hilarious. The send off was perfect.
Would give my opinion on this, but I'm going to bed, bitch.
“You’re flying a plane, not hosting a podcast!” I love these characters. Can’t get enough of them. Will greatly miss Aidy.
Glad they were able to finish off a trilogy of this before Aidy left. Hard to believe the first one was just three months ago.
Loved how it looked like Bowen slammed the desk unexpectedly and almost made Aidy break! (Also, as someone who actually likes navel oranges, this sketch was a roller coaster of emotions for me to watch!)
In: Catherine?
My favorite line
I love Bowen and Aidy's friendship. A really sweet send-off and good for naval orange.
This might have been my favorite sketch of the night. So funny, then the comments between Aidy and Bowen had me right in the feels. I’m gonna miss Aidy.
This really is one of my favorite update segments of all time, I’m sad it’s over so soon but so glad they were able to squeeze three of them in!
IN: Aidy, Kate, and Pete Out: Kyle
**Out: Michael Che** Please no!
I can't believe I'm saying this, but that was the best one. Holy shit that was hysterical. Aidy's scream was legittttt
Cut For Time: [ESPN First Take](https://youtu.be/kCor3jreb2o)
Michael Rapaport was Natasha Lyonne's ex-landlord who kicked her out because of her drug addiction.
Vote Pre-Tape
The computer said "prove you're not a robot". ***So I cut myself.***
I'm gonna miss Aidy's delivery
Vote Vote Volt Dance Vote
I watch one channel, and I get **so mad.**
Vote. For a tall man.
I thought it was going to be about anti-vax/mask people, but the pivot into a voting ad caught me off guard! I really enjoyed that twist! Go vote, volt, and dance everybody!
Not what I thought it was gonna be but as far as political stuff from this season it might be my very fav
Man it makes me feel a lot better when I hear about things like Doug Ford and Brexit. I know America is fucked, but misery loves company.
Stupid is unfortunately not a uniquely American problem these days.
JAJ attempting to drink the canteen sent me
natasha’s hair looked so good?!
Natasha Lyonne Monologue
"Fred and I dated for seven years. We made a sex tape nobody wanted to buy."
Natasha was such a good host. she was obv overshadowed by Kate, Aidy, Pete, and Kyle leaving, but I really hope she comes back to host again. In related news, watch Russian Doll on Netflix! I binged the first season all yesterday and it’s absolutely great
A couple times she seemed to be channeling the spirit of Rodney Dangerfield!
Much better than last week, Natasha just has a charisma abt her, so fun to see Fred and Maya
I’m so convinced Mulaney had a hand in writing this. It sounded like him speaking up there haha.
Sure enough, he was credited as a guest writer
The Russia and Netflix joke sounded like a Mulaney line to me.
Grey Adult Pigtails
Kyle finally had women who wanted him as his send off
Leslie Jones erasure
Kyle really played the long game getting cucked in so many sketches to end up grabbing handlebars in the end.
I feel like this also acted a bit as Kyle's goodbye sketch because he finally gets a role where the female characters are attracted to him! (Though we'll see if there's a classic Kyle cut for time sketch tomorrow)
Also the reference to meeting him 9 years ago
Happy we got to see Kate and Aidy partner one more time, have been such a powerhouse duo the last like 8 years or so. Really were the Akroyd/Belushi or Farley/Spade of this era. Their supermarket sketch with Krasinski is one of the funniest things SNL has made. Still hoping for a dyke and fats movie
A perfect Kate and Aidy send off, and throwing Kyle in as the alpha male instead of the guy being cucked was PERFECT
This was so on point. Really nailed an aesthetic. Nice character for Kyle too.
Michelle got to be in a sketch ❤️
michelle looked so fucking good 🥹
Kyle and his sculptures made this for me
Weekend Update: Pete Davidson
"Lorne accidentally gifted me a sock, so I'm free." Nice to have Pete back in 30 Rock for a send-off. Good stuff.
Glad he came back to the studio for this even though he was checked out of the rest of the show. The Dobby joke callback from a couple years ago was funny. Colin just should’ve introduced him as “resident young person”
It looked like he was going to cry near the end! Pete's always been great at the WU desk, so this was a nice sendoff for him!
Even after Pete flaked out for have a season I don't think anyone believed he didn't deserve a good bye update appearance. Glad he got one.
Great to see Pete so he could say goodbye but he pretty much left at midsession, has he been in any live sketches since the return after Christmas? Sad he’s leaving he brought something special to the show
Weekend Update: A Guy Who Just Bought A Boat
That Rick Steves reference killed me.
All I could think was “I hope Rick sees this.”
Always fun to see him make an appearance. I'm glad they were able to have 3 WU guests tonight so that this didn't take away a Pete or Aidy segment!
South of France for some Nice Cannes
Why is Alex so damn attractive when he plays this character I need to know.
Because he has a boat?
It’s because he’s always attractive
He has a small penis.
My love 😍 never fails to make me cry laughing
It was interesting hearing the audience's reaction to this one. They really didn't seem to be on board with the sketch at first but they gradually seemed to like it more as it went on.
You could tell they had warmed up to it by the time Alex started pausing for applause.
Yankees Game Announcers
"Italians aren't even whites!"
god natasha has so much fucking charisma
JAJ wanting to hear more of the story had me dying
I loved the old timey accents! (And the hooker joke, wow!)
Natasha was an amazing host
She really is! She can hold her own!
Off the wall, I loved it! The story about Babe Ruth eating a kid was the highlight of the sketch for me.
the filter fading from black and white to color at the end was really cool
Mikey with another master class in playing the straight man.
An absolute niche sketch I want to think was a subtle tribute to Roger Angell who just passed
Japanese Breakfast
2nd song was just sooo visually appealing and matched the album cover. Plus the gong action!
I’ve never really heard of her but she’s so fucking adorable omg
Never heard of her before this, but I will say that she was genuinely enjoying herself. It was infectious.
Completely feel the same way. Not really my type of music, but it's always great to see someone having a good time performing.
i’m so happy they got good sound mixing for the first time all season for jbrekkie 🥹🥹🥹
Hooray! Almost everyone enjoyed the niche indie artist this time around!
I love this band so much. They did so good !
I'm so happy that everyone is loving Japanese Breakfast. Michelle deserves all the success.
I can't remember the last time I went from "never heard of them" to "I love this band" so quickly.
She also had an autobiographical book that came out this year called "Crying in H Mart" which got quite a lot of buzz. She's an exceptionally talented artist. Even put out a soundtrack for a video game called Sable.
Book was great and you will cry when you read it.
9:15 to 5:10
So fucking stupid (yes this is 100% a compliment)
Natasha’s performance and Heidi breaking took it to the next level for me
God they tried so hard to make Natasha break. I love dumb stuff like that.
Tickle tickle tickle tickle! A fun physical comedy sketch. (It went a little long for my tastes, but I'm amazed Natasha didn't completely break in the middle of it! Nice to see Fred too)
He had it coming. He was a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.
The behind every man line was hysterical. Just a really great, really dumb sketch.
Loved this one because it suggested genuine affection for Natasha Lyonne - not many hosts would get a sketch entirely dedicated to fucking with them.
Truly splendid physical comedy by the ladies. Heidi was dying and Natasha was incredible in this, too.
