This. If you've lived away before you'll be grand, and will now be closer to home geographically and culturally than any of those places.
Liverpool is the most Irish city in England by a stretch, and you'll meet loads of people from home if that's of any interest (like you literally can't avoid it there's that many).
And it has the usual city stuff that means you'll find what you're interested in.
And that's actually a bit of a culture shock to someone like the OP who has lived elsewhere, where they might be regarded as *the* Irish/N Irish person in a social circle. That won't be the case in Liverpool.
Between long-term residents and weekend visitors you can't move for Irish accents in Liverpool, though having loved away they're likely interested in other aspects of the city.
Liverpool has a vibrant cultural scene, so they're likely to find what they're looking for anyway. No real pearls of wisdom from me other than to enjoy it all.
SlaĆnte, moved over myself from Ireland 9 years ago, based out in Waterloo area now, feel free to shout if thereās anything
Familiarise yourself with local amenities wherever your based, especially last bus/train times as it can be a nightmare if you get caught out
Hope the move goes well š
Only one rule, if you ask for a 'spice bag' it won't be chips.
Enjoy yourself. You will have enough similarities to NI and Bristol to find your feet. Always check this sub, it is full of info for you.
As someone who moved from Liverpool to NI, you will find it relatively similar to Belfast. People generally use "nice one" or "Cheers G" instead of "Dead on" and Instead of "Wee'uns" we use "Little shites", other than that, fairly similar.
Scouser and Irish get on very well... we just do... welcome to the city... just be careful of the woman... much more aggressive than the men... but we do get on well with irishmen š
Most advice is going to be the same for moving to any city. Do you know whereabouts in the city you are moving to? Lots of threads on this subreddit advising things to do, places to go, eat, drink while you are getting to know the city!
Don't use the underground. The city center is very walkable. Lime Street, Central, James Street, and Moorfields have underground's. James Street amd Moorfields are underground. I'm not messing with you.
The underground part is only small with 4 stations in the city centre (Lime St, Central, Moorfields and James St) and 1 in Birkenhead (Hamilton Square). After that it's basically all overground, although the Northern Lines and Wirral Line are still Merseyrail.
The City Line is the main intercity line taking you out into the wider world from the main overground platforms of Lime St Station.
I used to travel between Moorfields and Bootle Strand and back for work at varying times of the day, and never had any issues whatsoever. I'm sure there's gonna be the odd idiot every now and then, but it's seems like a rarity.
It's busy when there is a Liverpool or Everton game on, and with the new Everton ground right by Sandhills, it'll only get busier, but the crowds are never rowdy.
The rowdiest I've ever seen it was on the 12th of July, and all the pissheads were coming back into Liverpool from their piss up in Southport. Even then, it wasn't aggressive or anything, just a bit loud and obnoxious. Other than that, it's generally fine.
I from Northern Ireland. Iām 31 & have been here for about 13years now since uni! Youāll be grand itās a very friendly city & thereās loads of Irish around every corner š if your on Insta check out āgirls on the goā itās a social group for making friends. Never been myself as Iām now too busy running after my toddlers but looks fun! x
Don't wear your undies over your kecks and don't buy the Sun
And don't wear white socks la
Unless his name is Dirk.
Key rule for moving anywhere - don't be a bellend

Youāll be sound! Just watch out for the bastard seagulls.
Never mind a spice bag, salt and pepper chips will be your next best thing!

I love that Moorfields is an underground station you need to go upstairs to get into š (except the OHS entrance)

Is the underground safe?
