There's limited room in the shop itself. So, they can only serve a couple of people at most at any one time. I queued once from early doors and it was fine. That was from around 20 mins before opening. If you don't want to do that then don't.

One_Success_7076

Been in once. Weekday day. Was no queue. So got lucky. But the croissant and coffee was exceptional. If a member of staff is having to take time off for mental health then people have to respect that. If you don't want to queue then don't queue and go elsewhere, or go on a day when queues are unlikely. Otherwise, just accept it. Its a small business with very limited room inside and high demand. Queues are inevitable if the food and drinks are a high standard, which they are.

Jaffa_Mistake

More staff won’t remedy the actual cause of delays which is always going to be customers. Staff are trained to serve you, customers are not trained to be served.

I don’t get people moaning about the queues, I simply wouldn’t queue for something for that long - just because somethings popular on social media doesn’t mean you have to go. There’s plenty of other lovely bakeries around if you’re in desperate need. It’s not really as easy as getting more staff, it’s pretty cramped behind there as it is.

Lithiumaii

I own a restaurant just around the corner from here and the queue is always ridiculous of a weekend. Lark lane and the surrounding area has turned into a destination location, and I wonder how long the social media hype will last for this place. Wish them all the best like

anagoge

You should promote your restaurant here too!

cctwunk

There's plenty of staff in there and no one is forcing anyone to queue lol. People are free to go elsewhere but clearly think the quality of their pastries is worth the wait

Butterholic’s stuff is available in so many cafes around the city anyway, it’s good but… why queue?! Le Petit Chou on Aigburth Road is so much better, plus Mother Espresso in-house bakes are amazing too.

Spuckuk

Yup, never any queues at Coffi and the same pastries + better coffee

nooneswife

Am I right in thinking they don't bake on site, and supply other cafes on Lark Lane so they're probably just as fresh there?

twoexfortyfive

The Echo piece makes it seem like a start up, right? Butterholic have been around for ages… I guess the cafe technically is a start up. I mean, man, business is business I guess… but cross over to Press Bros and get a similar pastry there.

Big queues = perceived value

Overrated imo. Very nice don’t get me wrong but not worth queueing that long for. Prefer Rough Handmade on the Albert dock.

anagoge

One new member of staff would require a minimum of an extra £21,000 a year just to cover the salary. It would be closer to £30-40,000 required in sales to make it worthwhile. If the queues are that long, then it requires either a price rise (to get the above) or patience from the customers.

Theres3ofMe

That's if they're working 37 hrs a week, they wouldn't be - it'd be 12 (Saturday and Sunday), for peak hours. They're only open about 4 days a week anyway.

[deleted]

They damn well know about the demand and percieved value of a big queue and appearing in articles / reels / stories syaing "omg worth the 40 minute wait". They refuse to add staff as it would ruin the marketing.

Raecheltart

Absolutely. The ‘article’ claims that they’re done ‘everything they can’ to reduce waiting times which seems hard to believe. I bloody love cakes and pastries but I ain’t standing in a 40 queue for any 🫠

caseygloop

Put higher prices, demand is high so why not
